Good one Coach!! A bit of a strange hire, considering the rumored candidates.

Interesting hire. Brown had trouble getting girls to play basketball the year after she left (big time army style, disciplinarian, screamer/yeller), and Jeff had a bad season with her at the helm/only lasted one year - supposedly same issues. Did they call either of those schools?

Guess he did not 'resign' voluntarily despite the indications in the press releases?

She assisted at Manual this past season. Interesting - would they hire a person with no head coaching experience? I had wondered if she played any pro ball over seas - they would surely not want another Monique Reid abandoning ship in December scenario ala FC....

Very true on CSAA talent level on the girls side Pass. Not on the boys side - total opposites.

So where is the young person from retro? I guess SHA is starting to go the Trinity route and deciding that CSAA players are not the 'championship' answer.

CAL supposedly accepting resumes through this week and will begin interviews after Spring Break. Rumored favorites are Browning from Assumption and potentially Marsh (currently at Manual).

He is retiring - spend time with family/relax/etc. Rumor has it Milby will take the job.

I was at the game and the refs were not very good admittedly. But it was not lopsided in "badness." The game was sloppy, the reffing was sloppy, and the outcome was sloppy. But neither team was given an overall advantage by the refs. Ask the Collins fans what they thought of the refs....they will tell you they think they got screwed as well. I sat on the South side up by the band and still heard them voicing their displeasure repeatedly. Teams that are meant to advance take care of their business in tourney time.......ask Oldham County!!!

Heard from a parent that they 5 or 6 qualified applicants and that interviews will start next week.

Someone on another board said her daughter was playing with Holy Cross in a summer scrimmage last week.

Let go last week - no official reason that I've heard, but un-official scoop deals with problems stemming from playing her 8th grade daughter last year on the varsity.

Could have hired a paraprofessional - pass up qualfied applicants for the sake of a teacher with no head coaching experience.

North hired one the assistants - Dan Pfaff. Interesting as they advertised for varsity basketball head coaching experience but hired someone w/o head coaching experience.

Retro who has applied?

On Louis Meadows' newsletter it said Coach Martin told him she had 'stepped down'. Of course, that could be voluntary or involuntary. Curious to hear - they had stuck with her through quite a bit including that brief suspension back in the 2006 range.

Add Assumption - if Joe Voelker of Floyd Central applied, he is clearly the favorite/no contest - not confirmed that he has applied, however. If he did not apply, wide open. PRP - former player Arnika Smith-Williams. Seneca - re-opened all coaching positions as they did with many teaching positions due to being one of the low performing schools under review in Jefferson County - so may be more of a formality. No word on Jtown or Atherton - former should be heavily sought after.

Yes, Assumption's coach either resigned or was let go. JV coach appointed to Interim Head Coach. I assume they will hold off on any search for a replacement until after the season. Obviously, JV coach has an entire season to try to impress/win the job, if that's the case. Nice pics as always PaNDA!!
