Again, I believe I replied to the points in each post. People complained about how unfair it was for Manual so thats who I used for a comparison. No one has yet countered the No 3A comparison I used. You are free to enter any Lou school you wish instead of manual - thats my point as well. Now the debate is over "this plan to stop the public/private split" and that it ruins 4A? - is that correct? If how it ruins 4A is your cries of the 2 best teams arent playing in the final - then thats no debate, as shown elsewhere. If it's something else please state specifically. A ploy to stem the public/private split - perhaps indeed it is ?. But your point is what? Do you want the split?? If yes, say so. If not, then say what you feel should be done instead of this. I havent' seen anything at all from you guys about that point. The unfairness issue keeps getting rehashed... Don't just complain give us something to compare it with - besides the status quo. My response includes Manual only b/c thats who you guys complained about it effecting.:confused: It's no so much I like the system for 3A - I don't know, lets see how this works out. We may have 5 classes next year? I'm looking at it in terms of the WHOLE state - NOT just how it effects MY team, that would be well... selfish and egotistical:p Yeah Ashland has such an easy Eastern 3A bracket - a real cupcake:lol: We've been matched up vs great No Ky teams for years and now we've got great mountain teams along with lex cath. Still can't acknowledge the comparison, eh? :sleep: The Ram debate has been about Manuals "unfair" gauntlet I say it's no worse than the #3/4 stepchildren to CCH & HHS for many years I never said or suggested anyone can/will beat the big 3. I hope:thumb: My debating partner tries to use Lex Cath as a comeback (an obvious new powerhouse -in a DIFFERENT district) He just can't seem to bring himself to acknowledge the very similar comparison between No Ky 3A teams facing CCH & HHS in their district and Manual dilemna of having X & M in their district. That 3A district has more titles than X & M (past 20yrs?) AND the East side of 3A have vastly more titles than Manuals side in 4A I believe. Hence other teams have a MORE difficult time winning a state championship Woody Jr

It sounds like you guys are on the right track:thumb: You can judge your program anyway you like, but until you actually beat them in the playoffs then it would probably help your program more to keep building rather than complain about a ONE year bracket that right now it seems you are not quite talented enough to even undertake -unfair or not. when you are good enough to actually play those 3 tough playoff games THEN arguing the point makes some sense:p Since you repeatedly say I don't know enough about Louisville 4A(Ive lost track of the # and why you feel the need to keep doing so?) it only seems fair to now question you knowledge & awareness of anything "outside" of your lou 4A. You have made zero acknowledgement or understanding of the 3A comparisons noted. WoodyJr

Next year the 2 Lou districts are to be rotated against different opponents is the way it reads to me - is that not correct? If so that would mean you have 2 playoff games against your fellow district opponents - If you qualify for the playoffs. And going back to the No Ky 3A comparison; the #3/4 step children there have the exact same gauntlet as you - and their first 2 playoff games are against teams having won 13 of last 19 titles. technically, the first 2 playoff opponents (potentially) for Manual have not won that many titles - hence your first 2 opponents (say X & M) have NOT been as dominant as HHS & CCH (going by the #'s) Woody jr

Well it seems NOW you are trying to argue about no longer having an all Louisville final - is that right? Thats fine, I have NOT been arguing that point. I don't care if it's an Louisville final. I've said elsewhere that X/T have had great games in the finals, and they've had really great games at all other times- if they're gonna have to beat each other, they can do it in any round. For those wailing that it's not the 2 best teams in the finals, so that somehow lessens the whole thing - you are wrong, Dead WRONG! Every other class has pitted teams from opposite halves of the state in the championship game for eternity??? Surely there is no one out there that thinks the 2 best teams are always situated in opposite halves of the state? Please reveal yourself if you actually believe that:lol: The other 3 classes have had great games year after year - just as good as the 4A overall, that cant really be argued. Sure the B&B final was probably THE greatest, but year in and year out the 2 best teams almost always do NOT meet in 3 of the 4 classes and there has been no hue & cry from the masses - only now from some folks who 'seem" to view 4A as the only real football in KY. It is NOT. So thats my take on the all-Louisville finals issue. it has nothing to do really with your Manual problem Thats why I listed the 3A history - because you were saying the road for individual teams (like manual) was so much harder than for the 3A teams that you stated "can" do it. As far as all these 3A teams that you say "can" do it - Who are these teams? if you looked at my post about the 3A playoffs the last 20 years there isnt a huge difference in tough roads for certain teams. Certainly the traditional #3 and #4 teams in Cov Cath/Highlands district have it tougher than you. I believe thats 13 of 19 titles from the same DISTRICT and 16 of 20 all from the eastern half of the bracket!! Many many other teams have had a harder road for many more years than you guys. Actually before you address this new ONE year bracket perhaps Manual should simply address their utter lack of success up till now in the old set up. It just seems silly for you guys to freak out about this - it's like putting the cart before the horse. You program has not been able to advance in the playoffs under the old system so it seems that Manual fans would be better served to focus all their energies on doing whats necessary to improve the program for next year when you DO NOT have this terrible gauntlet in front of you [besides, history seems to suggest that you "probably" won't even be successful enough to have to play the 2nd playoff game and almost for sure (by history) you won't even have the chance to try and play that 3rd terrible game.] So it seems that you folks are complaining about a hypothetical that in all reality you are not good enough to even attempt- right now that is. re; this game I don't undertstand saving Williams for this game:confused: IF you do win, BC still advances and as last year has an equal chance to advance out of the region. You are just as likely to get a tough draw as a district winner as a loser so if you are saving your 1 pitcher, why use him now when you will advance anyway and might need him to go 1, sit, 1 vs BC for the region Some more enlightened minds can set me straight Im sure Go Cats, Woody Jr

Hummm, I believe Cov Cath and Highlands have 13 of 19 in 3A - not much of a difference if you ask me. And thats 13 of 19 from the SAME DISTRICT - not different districts like your comparison. Add to the equation that except for Boyles marvelous streak including 3 straight 3A crowns (2001,2,3) ONLY 1 3A title has even come from the Western half of the bracket in the last 20 years (BG in 95) :eek: So to recap for those scoring at home (and I certainly hope someone has been scoring:D ) In roughly the last 20 years of KY HS Football: 3A has had 16 of 20 champions from the Eastern half of the bracket and 13 of those were from just 2 teams in the same district. 4A has had 9 champions from their Western half of the bracket [ St.X 6, Male 2, Nelson Co. 1 ] and 12 champions from the Eastern half of their bracket [ Shelby Co. 1, Geo.Rogers Clark 1, the imaginary "eastern" school Trinity 10 ] ....and for those needing it stated that is 18 from just the Big 3 - T, X, & M. So anyone willing to take off their Jeffersonian shades should be able to see that their situation is not that unique that everyone else is going to be quick to feel sorry for you If I'm off by a number or 2 please feel free to point it out but I dont believe the overall issue being addressed here will be changed dramatically Woody Jr

True but it doesnt lessen the gauntlet a struggling 3A team has to face. Thats the basic argument right? and no one has suggested manipulating 3A or other playoffs b/c of how hard the path is - I don tthink? Its not that 3A is better/stronger just that the road through all the eastern powers is maybe tougher on a struggling 3 team than for your 3 games??

apples & orange maybe? a Manual vs. big 3 a struggling 3A team having to face Bell, Rock, Cov Cath, Highlands, Lex Cath How much of a difference challenge wise is it for the underdog in each class? That 3A guantlet for an underdog 3A is just as hard on them as Manual vs the big 3 relatively speaking IMO I have no problem accepting a different opinion but not one who dismisses all the other classes as irrelevant or less than because it's not Louisville 4A

That shows they can be beat. I'm not denying thats tough but the gauntlet through 3A is pretty darn physical too. To flat out complain that your road is so supremely tougher than say Bell, Rock, Cov Cath, Boyle, Lex Cath, et al is in my opinion sort of ignoring everyone elses situation and ny the tone of some posts on here there is an rather arrogant tone that Louisville is the end all be all in Ky HS football. Brohn v Bush was great but theres lots of good tough football played all over. I'm for trying new things and don't feel that KHSAA can run everything based on just 1-2 districts in just one class.
