The obvious elephant in the room is Sloan. If JC can successfully contain and slow him down, then they should go on to win this one. If Sloan is able to make plays and stretch the D, I could see this being a high scoring game for both teams. Wayne Co. is a very good team, but I think this years JC team is just on a other level. Looking forward to tomorrow night!

I personally find it amusing to have fans complaining about their team having to travel over 2 hrs for a 3rd round playoff game. Fortunately for our friends in the more central populated areas, they generally seem to compile a decent schedule without having to drive more then an hour to do so. While your stronger programs in the more geographically isolated areas, routinely have to drive 2 plus hours for a regular season game, sometimes even district matchups. Take for instance, Johnson Central. Their non district away games this season on average was 97.75 miles. Their district opponents are an average 85.5 miles with the closest bring 61 miles away. If your team is playing, just be happy. Many coaches and players would love to take your place!

Past years Raceland has had the Tigers number in the playoffs. I think that happens this year as well. When these two get together the environment is usually crazy.

One of the better matchups of the weekend in Class 4A. Last time the Cardinals were able to sneak out a win on the road. Something tells me they’ll be to much at home for the Redhounds. Give me Wayne by a TD.

Best district in this class easily, and maybe the entire state top to bottom in terms of competition. Should be another good one this time around. I’d give a slight edge to Hopkinsville, for the mere fact there at home, and it’s hard to beat a good team twice in one season. Good luck to both teams and may the best team win!

Yea, that’s why I was curious. I haven’t seen anything saying when they become “final”. Glad to see the Belfry game did in fact pay dividends for JC.

When do these rankings become final? I know they don’t accumulate throughout the playoffs. Is it sometime today, Sunday, throughout the week?

It’s unfortunate that with the format of our current RPI system, JC may not be rewarded as they should be. Even if they are to go on the road and beat a tough team like Belfry. Even with that said, I still prefer this system to the old format. The KHSAA has a long way to go in figuring this rating system out, but it’s a step in the right direction IMO.

This was my thinking as well. This system obviously needs work and some tweaking down the road, but I still prefer it to the old system. Holds each team and there schedules more accountable. I hope the KHSAA figures out a way to weigh more on a teams overall strength and success and begins to factor in out of state opponents more accurately.
