1. I agree 100% Bluto, Berea played with the same kind of heart against us last week. As for your QB and RB, I have no idea wether or not Raines left them in but I wouldn't have due to being afraid of an injury if nothing else.

    Pun was intended:thumb:

  2. I was going by the original pdf I wasn't aware that they were playing up, but that still does not change the fact they will be competitive with those teams however I agree they need to prove that they can before being mentioned in the same breath with teams like that

There is no reason to think that MC could not play this year with anyone in the state (with maybe the exception of the B3). The have the speed, size, and numbers to play with anyone.

  3. That is a moot point if they are as good as people say then it should not matter when they play those teams, they should be competive and compete each year I think a lot of people forget that the Harrodsburg Mercer area has been talent rich for many years with players like Dennis Johnson, Craig Yeast, Julius Yeast I could name more but I am not going to. Also Highlands and Cov Catholic will not be in 5a. Mercer's district next year is a little harder but not that much(Lincoln Co, Pulaski Co, South Laurel, Pulaski Southwestern) Look up the allignment for 5a there are some very good teams there but mercer will be right there with them.

Highlands and CCath WILL be in 5A next year...They were granted permission to "play up".

  4. Dunbar's main problem is they lost all of their skill kids from last year except Jerrell Greene who played a little bit and he has been hurt until last week. As a whole there is a new quarterback, fullback, tight end, both wide out receivers, really a new tailback as well but Jerrell did play some last year. Dunbar did not have one kid returning who caught a pass last season and only one I believe who had more than 7 or 8 carries all season (Jerrell Greene) and he has been out all season till the Woodford game.

The defense had a lot of returning starters and that's why they look much better now. Dunbar had about half of the lineman returning and they were hoping that they could carry the team but Dunbar's rushing attack hasn't been what everyone excepted it to be for now.

The problem is not play calling it's execution. I also believe Dunbar has lost the turnover ratio something like 13 give aways to 2 take aways this season. That never helps.

I know Greg Couch very well and he has coached with David Hensley at Dunbar and at East Jessamine and there were years at Dunbar and at East Jessamine where he wasn't there. David Hensley always made the play scripts, David runs the offensive practices and all of the offense that goes on Friday Night he checks out himself in practice during the week. Also, the majority of the time David calls the offense on Friday night when Couch was with him or not.

I know Greg has the "Couch" name and everything but let's be realistic here before coming to East Jessamine David Hensley had been coaching for about 15 years while I think Greg Couch coached 1 at Madison Central. Believe me when I tell everyone the offense has always been run through David Hensley.

For the record I never mentioned Couch one time...I just wasnt sure if DH called the offense.

  5. It certainly appears the administrators of the Mercer school system are trying to cherry pick a state championship...PERIOD.

This statement has nothing to do with the kids, it in no way belittles their efforts and casts no aspersions on their abilities. However, it does take the adults to task for what looks to be, at least from the outside, a thinly veiled attempt to achieve a modicum of athletic success at the expense of ethics, class and sportsmanship. If this is not the case, the general thinking goes, then why not wait until the schools are actually in the same building before merging the athletic teams. MANY county school systems across the state operate more than one high school with separate teams without too much trouble.

As has been stated previously, SOME Mercer fans sound as arrogant as the private school supporters and a few seem loathe to even admit there is a competitive advantage.

Too many times we, as a society, get wrapped up in sports to such an extent that we have forgotten the entire basis of them, the whole reason for the exsistence of sport...to have fun. All too often the emphasis is placed on winning at all costs as opposed to the instillment of a good work ethic, understanding the importance of teamwork, the concepts of good sportsmanship and fair play and, most importantly, having fun.

First, I think that is a riduculous statment...that they would push this to "Cherry Pick" a football championship.

Second, lets say they waited till next year. The new classifications are up and MC is in its new 3 or 4a class and then merge. Well they would be in the class until the next turn...and people would be on hear saying the same things.

  6. David Hensley has pretty much always called the plays. There have been spots over the years where he lets other people do it but not a lot. He makes the offensive script. It was the same when Greg Couch was with him and it was the same for the two seasons Couch wasn't there. For four seasons at EJ and Dunbar points have never been a problem and one season comes along and the blame shouldn't go to the coaching staff. He runs the same plays now as they always did and there isn't a 'Higher Level of Competition" now either.

David Hensley's last year at East Jessamine he beat Woodford 56-6 running the same offense that Dunbar lost to Woodford this week 6-0. Players have to perform.

Good Post...so what do you think the problem at PLD is?

  7. As the newest member of Barbara Walters’ chat show “The View,” Rosie O’Donnell in a discussion of the events of September 11, 2001, stated that “radical Christianity is just as threatening as radical Islam.” She actually received applause from the studio audience upon making this statement.

Most of you have some idea of my views on this topic, I’m interested to know what you all think.

Is old Rosie out in orbit, or is she right on the money?

I dont hear of radical Christians out cutting peoples heads off.

  8. I in no way was slamming the Mercer County BOE. I did not claim that was the main reason and definately not the only reason. I was just saying I bet it was mentioned.

What cost is there to the consolidation? Very little I would speculate at this point. Same amount of kids in the county, same number of buildings being used. Same amount of buses and bus routes. Same amount of teachers. I'm not trying to be smart, but what cost has the quick consolidation created?

There would def be costs in merging everything into one identiity (as in business) and making sure all the infrastructure matches. It sounds easy but I am sure there is major changes that arent skin deep.
