  1. But it wasn't a funny joke. Russell moves up to 3A with the new classification system that is put in place. So this year according to their enrollment they are a 2A school and next year based on their enrollment and the KHSAA ruling they will be a 3A school.

The school number that Mercer has this year would put them in 4A and they would move up to 5A next year.

    FALSE 3A

  2. I have watched a lot of football this year. Mostly 4A. Have saw Trinity, St X, Male, PRP, Dunbar, Mont Bell, Danville, LCA, Raceland, Lex Cath, Frankfort....and several others.

I can tell you this....Mercer is FAST! Maybe the fastest I've seen....check that....THE FASTEST I have seen with the exception of maybe Male. They are deep. They basically 2 platoon. They play really good solid BASE defense. They dont have to stunt and blitz alot so you dont catch them out of position much. They have 4 running backs who could start on any team in the state. They play with a swagger.

In my opinion..."THIS" Mercer team is a top 5 team in ANY class this year. Dont know about next year...but "THIS" team is just too talented and too deep to not be a contenter in any classification.

I have not seen Russell play...but I think Mercer wins handily.

  3. You know there are a lot of things that KHSAA monitors. Look how they make students sit out a year of sports if they transfer under sertain conditions. If you can't figure out what is going on here you can't think for yourself. By Mercer BGP members own admission the only thing that changed 100% was the establishment of a football team. Why else would that be the only physical 100% change completed at Mercer? Aren't academics first? Sure you can say Harrodsburg school district no longer exists. True. But why has nothing else changed except the establishment of a football team to win a Championship. The KHSAA screwed this up by allowing a school to have an unfair advantage. No one would have said a word had they planned ahead kept two football teams and then merged next year into the proper division. This whole thing was hocky from the get go. The private non private thing is nothing compared to this.

I'm just sick of listening to people try to justify that this merger was above board. Okay I've got it off my chest. I'm done with this subject. Let's play some football.

  4. You pay for the Socio-politcal-economic system where you do business. The more you expect to get out of it, the more you will pay into it.

BTW, while I don't necessarily believe the Bible calls us to create a government to help us become better christians, I do believe it calls on us to end systems that are oppressive. Some people want the government to get rid of abortions, get rid of same sex marriages, get rid of evil people (death penalty), I want the government to get rid of poverty and to end the cycle of poverty that destroys families. It is not okay to simply say pull yourself up by your bootstraps, sometimes the system has to be changed.

To have told an African American (slave) in 1850 that all it took was hard work and they too could be rich was simply not true. To have told an African American in the 1950s that all it took was hard work and they too could be rich was simply not true. Before that could happen, the system had to change.

To tell a third or fourth generation child of poverty that all it takes is hard work and they too can be rich again is simply not true. We have a system that exploits the working poor and sprints to the bottom line and lowest wage to get to more profits. Simple as that.

Just like I can't simply tell EXXON executives and stock holders to be more benevolent, but I can certainly work to change the system in which they operate to try to reduce the exploitation of the poor workers.

I would have to personally disagree with this. I grew up VERY poor...while I do not consider myself rich...I am better off than most.

  5. Therein lies the rub. That never was the government's money -- it was Exxon's money. The government deciding not to take $2.7M from Exxon is not the same as the government giving Exxon $2.7M. Exxon earned the $2.7M not the government. With your kind of thinking I suppose I should thank the government for not taking even more of their money from my paycheck since clearly they have the right to take all of it!

    Well put:thumb:

  6. No...a better idea would be to NOT give our tax dollars to Exon and FUND THE PROGRAMS THAT THE BUSH ADMIN SET UP BUT DOES NOT FUND.

And you actually think that Exon uses that windfall to hire new people and do R&D....thats funny. Corporations are not in business to employ people, they are in the business of making money for their stock holders. No one knows what deal the Bush Admin set up with the energy companies because the energy policies were set up behind closed doors with Cheney. And if you recall, when called in front of Congress, the energy tycoons refused to answer questions under oath, as did Cheny. But that will all change soon.

As a shareholder let me explain how this works. When I make money from some of my business'... I invest it. I usually try to invest it in companies that make MONEY (and pay dividends...lol). The more profit the company makes the higher the stock price becomes. As my portfolio grows...I have extra cash. You know what I do with that money? I usually invest it into one of my existing business' or I START A NEW BUSINESS. When I start a new business guess what I do? I HIRE new workers.

  7. There can be no legitimate doubt that the poor receive far more in return of what they contribute in terms of taxes than does a "rich" person. 100% access for 2% contribution, as opposed to 100% access for 70% contribution ($96,500 income and above) seems pretty obvious to me.

If we truly want to help the poor, we should be making every effort to build an environment conducive to the creation of more wealthy tax payers, not the soaking of those already there, and those on their way. We should be helping the poor man improve his learning, skills and ultimately his station in life... not telling him, "You're okay just the way you are. Vote for me, and I'll get more of what those evil rich guys have for you."

Where in any society has it ever made sense to punish achievement and success, and reward failure?

The fact that 50% of all taxpayers, (who pay less than 3% of all income taxes collected) represent 50% of all potential voters is the 800 pound gorilla in the room here. Democrats recognize this group as their ticket to power, and are willing to pander disinformation to play upon their bitterness, jealousy and envy to get votes. It is disgusting.

History has proven time after time that bitterness, jealousy, envy and coveting another's possessions are not virtues upon which to build a lasting society.

Agreed...I was just making a point to Ace:thumb:

  8. Fiesta

Ohio St / USC-After they handle Notre Dame and UCLA, they'll bolt over Michigan or the SEC winner

    Rose

Michigan / Texas-They'll take care of business in the Big 12 championship

    Orange

    Ga Tech / Louisville

    Sugar

    Florida / W.Virginia

Notre Dame, Arkansas, Wisconsin, Rutgers, LSU, Oklahoma, BCollege, Boise St are all on the outside looking in...

No way the BEast gets two BCS bids.

  9. The Liberty Bowl wants them badly.

I think that is the basement for bowls for UK.

The ceiling is probably the Music City.

If they beat Tennessee, then that cahnges somewhat to possibly include the Outback.

If I were guessing UK is headed to Memphis.

I would agree with the exception...if we beat TN then we would def be going to at least the Outback. We would finish tied for 2nd in the SEC east with TN and get the tie-break.

  10. One interesting point...That is the most points scored by LM in 3 years. Last time LM scored 40 points was the '03 season against LA-Lafy:rolleyes:

As a matter of fact...only 4 times since 1999. And two of those were against LA-Lafy, once against Utah St. and once against Tulane. Great Company. lol

  11. Many of the boys I coached in basketball had never been on and interstate and some will never likely be on an interstate, much less a plane. I would say they get very little benefit except necessary usage - while the wealthy use that government spending to make money and they use it alot.

It is not a matter of saying the poor don't get benefits, but to suggest that the wealthy do not get a good return on their investment in the infrastructure of this country is just plain silly. It is the infrastructure and the tax system that has allowed them to make money. Their/Your whomevers only complaint is that they want to make MORE or they want to KEEP MORE - Why? Don't they have enough?

I would venture to say that the poor benefit more from public transit than "the rich".

  12. When you say he gets no benefits you mean that he doesn't use the highway, or didn't use the education system (or at least rely on it for educated workers), or doesn't use airports, or the police or fire protection or the American defense system to keep him safe from terrorists, or he won't receive Soc. Sec., or his corporation didn't receive any incentives, or their were no tariffs placed on imports so he could keep his prices high, or good gosh I don't have time to list all the benefits that he uses that the poor do not. He gets way more benefit than the poor.

Does the poor not use the highways, education system, airports, police, fire, defense system, social security (who I would argue that the poor get the most benefit).

These other...as you call "benefits" are not benefits. They are rights that are given to EVERYONE. Just because someone never gets to use them doesnt mean they are only afforded to the RICH. You say it as if the poor dont have the opportunity.

  13. You probably need to actually read my post before you reply. No body hates the chief........in fact I said "that's what we all srtive for. But your conception that everyone can invest is ridiculous. You need to get out more. Take a ride to Over The Rhine tonight, roll down and window and ask someone on the street who their stock broker is. Let me know how that works out for ya. LOL

What does that have to do with being ABLE too? Let me ask you this WHY CAN'T they invest?
