The Spiece Tourney in Fort Wayne will be just fine. It will have teams reaching 6 or 7 states or better. By the way, Spiece's teams seem to always play the DS Allstars tough. That comp alone would be worth the trip. Spiece typically get the best Indiana has to offer. I will be at this event! It s the Run N Slam tourney right? I may be headed to the Adidas tourney in Cleveland. It appears to be loaded this year. May schedule a trip to the May Classic if I can learn more about who is in it. Cannot sponsor teams, sorry. Gotta remain neutral for now.

Yep, I believe so. Plays for the Illinois Rising Stars AAU. If I am not mistaken, that team is coached or sponsered by a guy named Paxson. And yes, that would be the teammate of MJ from the Bulls day. I have seen this team play a Louisville team in a tourney I worked. I think I still have the stats from that tourney.

Unreal! We agree again. This just cannot coninue. But your right. Gotta play where coaches can see. Its time to showcase at the 16 under and 17 under level. No, it does not guarantee a scholly, but increases awareness about a players game. It can provide exposure, or you can get "exposed." Shooter, are you going to the Adidas May Classic in Indy or the Adidas Hoops Challenge in Cleveland? I will be at one of them.

DS Allstars I believe won AAU state as usual, but they never play in the nationals thus earning the bid and not using it. Opting instead to go use resources to head to tourneys such as the Adidas Super 64. They generally win state for recreational purposes, not to go to the nationals.

The answer is based on what the programs goals are. In the little picture, they should and more importantly they can. AAU is what originated all the major tourneys you have today. With AAU, all teams can fill out the paperwork and enter. From an exposure standpoint, it does very little today as it once did when you won state and qualified for the nationals. Now you have various levels for given age groups such as D1 or D2 levels. The major shoe events supposedly attracts the best players so that these kids can match up and see where their talent level is. If your looking to play the game and just get better against in-state talent, then absolutely a team should play in the AAU state. If your a program just wanting to create exposure and hype for you players and team, then the state does very little for that. Programs have different agendas, but I disagree that in-state teams should be omitted from certain tourneys to protect a rep is not good.

That's not the point being made. Eddie Ford will not allow other in-state KY teams participate in the tourneys in oversees. He does not wish to lose to other programs or teams that are better. THAT would not look good to him nor the shoe company and it would "expose" his teams.

Do not referee, but do help working with some events. Hint: hmmm, what shoe brand has 3 stripes on them? I tell ya, you just cannot leave it alone with them, :jump: I am stumped on the other program not allowing teams/programs to participate in their events. I should know the answer. In some ways its a shame. You really never get the chance to see your team's value unless you play the BEST. In any case, you can't fool the basketball junkies and recruiters. They know the circuit well. Eyes and colleges find talent regardless of the obstacles some program ops use. It's more like a "hoops talent extortion" rather than "racket".

Do not be surprised that Eddie Ford will not allow your team to play in his events. He is simply trying to represent Kentucky with his players, teams, and program. I have other teams' coaches contacting us and stating they have been shunned too including a 15 under team wanting to play up and wishing to play in his events. The bottomline is if they were allowed play in his event and outperform or even defeat any of his programs then that does not fare well for the Kentucky Hoopstar's rep. But they are not the only program to do so. Other out-of-state grassroots operators do the same. This forces players that want to play in his events to play for him. Its a business you know.

Yes. I follow tourneys in Cincy and go to several majors. What is the Tourney called "King of the South?" Nevermind, I already know. This tourney will have one the best, if not best programs in the country, the Atlanta Celtics. Are you getting your team to the Adidas 64 in Vegas? I also follow major camps Nike, Adidas, and Reebok. I don't think Eddie Ford is going down. I just don't think he gets the best players. I think the Faulkners are solid players, but they are just not the best players in the 15's in Kentucky. The coming classes, 2007, 2008, and 2009 are improving the outlook for KY talent. 2007 is still a bit top-heavy with 2008 being strong and broad in talent, and the class of 2009 appears to be one of the deepest and richest yet.

I would put the East against the West and the East wins. I just think you have a better overall "team" with the East. With the West, you have inconsistant shooting and they live or die off the press, fast-breaks, and points off turnovers. Problem is, the East just don't turn it over. You have mismatches when the East faces the West, but that is usually offset with better ball control and movement from the East side and they generally look as though they shoot a better percentage from the field and don't force nearly as many shots. With practice, that could change for the better for the West, but I doubt it. It just looks as though the West are vying for scholarship points and not the "W". For as long as I can recall, Eddie Ford has been chasing the same players that DS Allstars get. They appear to be gaining ground, but even Eddie Ford does not have the best collection of 15's in the state, much less 16's or 17's. As of today, I would do like this: 1. DS Allstars East 2. Shining Stars 3. DS Allstars West 4. Eddie Ford KY Hoopstars Agree?

Now now. See you don't have to go and spoil it. I agree with you. I have met him and he is certainly a respectful young man. Coach Hicks does utilize him more in the post which was my point. AAU type play allows him to get out on the perimeter more. For Scott County, he seems best when he pops out from the post for those mid range jumpers and spin moves. He still has room to improve and that's a good thing.

Nope. Of course I did not miss Haddix. Haddix seems to excel more in the AAU environment than at Scott County. Yes, he had a solid year, but had he played like that against Henry Clay, we may of had a completely different psynario in this year's Sweet 16 tourney. Haddix still needs to add range to his shot. He has excellent explosion off the floor and can shoot over taller defenders. He plays mostly at the 3 spot from what I could see. If he wants to play D1 ball, he has to learn to create shots off the dribble better. Only becuase at that level, he will not be able to soar over taller defenders like he does when he is in the paint. Solid defender though. Just needs some better handles. Agree?

I believe it was the DS Allstars East team second tourney and they were playing like a team that had been together for months. Van Hoose showed his range, but Novosell showed he could play inside out. They had a solid mixture of athletism and fundamental play. Very unselfish. Loved the passing and chemistry. Most folks would agree, this team "wanted" to play defense. You have to give Vance (sp) some credit on working to get this crew together. The one thing I noticed about his program and players, they all seem to improve over the summer months going into high school. And I think that is what is most important. Portwood looks as though he will come on strong too, if I got the kid pegged right. Scott County has a solid future for the next 2 years with Portwood and Mackey. I am not, but my nephew plays football in the 16th. I was born and raised in Cincy.

No players from the 16th on those list. I am a fan of the 16th, have been for 20 plus years and I always try to shoot straight with it. With Euton, you have a D1 player in the making. And from what I have been told, he has a solid working attitude to get better. That's all it takes.

I have watched Euton. For his size and age, he can play the perimeter. And he is agile as well which places him above the talent in his class. They are 15's with a couple of 14's, notably Euton, playing up. Euton is rated in the top 12 in his class of 2010 on the national level. They are a very solid team that is one of the top 5 Kentucky AAU teams in the 15 under division.

I agree ShooterX3. It was a good tourney and the players mentioned for all tourney team played well. How was the all tourney team selected? I was impressed with the overall play of Novosell. He continues to improve and I expect him to help Lex Cath build on last season's performance. I would expect just about every DS Allstar player to be playing in the Executive Inn Allstar game since KV helps organize that event.

Who will be the team to beat in the 16th Region? Its the same comments, over and over and over again. It looks like one person using several user-names and it looks like a joke. Its actually gotten worse since the season ended.
