1. Elliott - Region Champs

2. Morgan - Know how to win

3. Greenup Co. - Yes, I said Greenup Co. Lost to Eventual Regional Champs but beat Fairview, Ashland, Russell 3 times. Solid Senior Class.

4. Russell - Not a suprise how they finished this past year; they was the same team the year before. A lot of Experience.

5. Rowan Co.;West Carter;East Carter

I'm from nowhere near the 16th region and I think that Ashland has to be somewhere on the list. Thomas, McDavid, and Wilcox, that's enough.

They are all 3 good athletes, but their not basketball players. I've watched them play. They are very good athletes but not basketball players. Well they can be placed at 5th ranking if that will make ya feel better. This is a real weak Ashland team in a long time. A loss of a 6-8 player really hurt this team and they are always able to produce a 6-8 center. Ashland is going through a rocky road right now. They have great tradition but were are discussing about the current team.

I think Elliott will have a fine team, but unless I'm badly mistaken, Russell is the Region Champ, until they are eliminated at either the district or regional level next year.

Aren't opinions great? We all get to have one, and your's is worth no more (or less) than anyone else's.

I totally went brainhead. I apologize. Russell is Region Champs and didn't mean to take nothing away from them. They are going to be a good team in the region but their not the top 3 teams in the region. They played teams at the right time. That is what March is all about, every team has a chance.

I apologize again.

Greenup never beat Ashland????

1. Russell - Defending champs return heart of their team.

2. Elliott - Soph. trio will lead the run and gun Lions.

3. Ashland - Like Russell, they return their top 3 players, will it be good enough?

4. Rowan County - Have some good talent coming back.

5. Morgan County - Coach Perry is consistently re-loading these days after losing talented teams.

Sleeper pick : Rose Hill - They have a good combination of size and quickness. Even though they'll still be young most of their players have gained valuable experience the past 2 years.

1. Elliott Co. - 3 Stars back

2. Morgan Co. - Know how to win

3. Greenup Co. - Experience - Solid Seniors

4. Russell - Region champs, but not the best TEAM in the region

5. Rowan Co.; East Carter; West Carter; Ashland - up for grabs

Is this Respectable?

Who is returning for Greenup County that makes them so high on your list. Ashland is AT LEAST a top 3 team as well as Russell is. Morgan will be solid, but they have a lot of people who are un-proven. To rate them that high at this point is just non-sense.

Greenup beat Russell 3 times this year; Solid Senior Class

Ashland could be 4 spot depends how good Morgan is like you stated - unproven

1. Ashland - I believe this bunch will win the Region and will surprise some teams next year. To me this team is hands down winner of next years Region title, especially with some possible additions:thumb:

2. Elliott County - This young team matured beyond measure this year, and they will feed off of this and grow more as a team next year.

3. Russell - They have possibly the best player in Region next year, but can all pieces of the puzzle fall in place again?

4. Morgan County/Greenup County/Rose Hill/ Boyd County

Sorry, I couldnt leave my Lions off. I believe we might have a surprise or two for next year too.:thumb:

And Russell and Ashland dont have solid senior classes? Vanhoose and Blair are 3-4 year starters on the varsity level and Scott Gill is a freskish athlete on the inside. For Ashland McDavid has started for 4 years(was 6th man as an 8th grader) Wilcox for 3 years and Jeremy Rose and Tyler Salyer will be sparks off the bench(both seniors.) Thomas has been playing varsity since 7th grade too so you could almost count him as a senior.

Greenup always beats Russell in basketball but rarely do they do anything else significant. Last year was the first regional tournament they've made in some time and they got lucky to get past the first round. They lose a couple starters too... I just dont see them being in the top 5 pre-season.

BTW im sticking with my top 5 of :1. Russell - Defending champs return heart of their team.

2. Elliott - Soph. trio will lead the run and gun Lions.

3. Ashland - Like Russell, they return their top 3 players, will it be good enough?

4. Rowan County - Have some good talent coming back.
