  1.

Oh yeah hey front row did you hear any stats for Wills agaisnt Ludlow? I watched it on TV I think he was 5-8 or 9 105 yards one TD, and had about 60-70 yards rushing and 1 TD.[/QUOTE]

I caught the replay this weekend. He looked good. Ran well and threw some very accurate passes.

Don't get me wrong, I am a Bellevue fan. I graduated from there many moons ago. The Tigers will need that kind of performance every week from him and not just be a hand-off quarterback.

  2. There are 68 players on the CCMS roster that I have.

CCMS 7th grade team played on Weds. nights throughout the season and beat the other "JV" teams pretty handily. I am told that the CCMS 7th grade will take the same route as CovCath and play in the small school division next year.

68 players?! Wow, how do they find playing time for all these kids? I have heard so many arguements that kids should play there because Red Devils is too compettive that some kids would not even see the field. Well, there are about 18 kids on the senior team and they all get in every game.

  3. There are 25 players wearing two state title rings dressing on Friday though. And another 20 who won the freshman championship last year.

Your not allowed to wear jewelry on the field. So hopeing that all that Bling somehow intimidates Bellevue or shines in their eyes is not going to happen this year.

I like Bellevue's chances in this one.

  4. And? I don't see what your point is. How many state titles has Beechwood won since they lost that game?

Your original point, if I'm not mistaken is that teams are different from year to year. So those titles do not mean much this year.

I know that tradition never graduates, but tradition is not suiting up this Friday.

  5. Saw Ludlow play Taylor early in the season, then Brossart later. Looked like two different teams. Ludlows quaterback has to be the man tonight for them to do anything agaisnt Bellevue.

I think Bellevue will Roll big in this one, but looking forward to seeing their linebacker match up with Bellevues lineman and Buckler, Slater, Sullivan and Livers coming out of the backfield. If the weather is decent I bet even Bellevues quaterback Wills gets in on the action!

    Now don't get carried away.:D

  6. .

So Ludlow definitely believes that they not only can play with Bellevue but can beat them. These two teams have each won 3 games against each other the last 6 years. Bellevue this year I admit is the favorite to win this game, however Coach Hornsby and staff will definitely have a great game plan for this game, and the kids will come out playing hard. If all the kids on the team do their jobs, then I definitely do think Ludlow can pull this one out.

You bring up 3 wins in the last 6 years, but you could also say 1 win in the last 4 years (that sounds less impressive considering that one win came when Bellevue was struggling to a 3-7 or 4-6 losing season). The last two years have not been that close at all.

  7. The reality is that most pollsters have not seen all teams in person and tend to lean towards regions they are familiar with. They have to go by recent performances, expectations, and records. You basically start with a set poll and as teams lose they drop just to be replaced with a team that won.

I have seen Bellevue play. They play tough and probably deserving of a top ten spot.

  8. Buckler put up another big game (228yds) and the Bellevue offense continued to roll. Overall great job by Bellevue,

Brossart is simply not as good as Bellevue. They were poorly coached...1st and goal inside the 5 with 40+ seconds and a timeout left in the first half and could not get it in! Then they went to the hurry up offense with their first team, while Bellevue had it JV team in on defense.

Bellevue will continue to roll the next couple of weeks....Keep the Paddle hanging in those BHS hallways!!

    What does this mean?

  9. Schools also have a responsibility to get these kids noticed by colleges. 6A schools, and traditional state powers (like Highlands, NCC, and Beechwood) are all scouted by recruiters. So, teams like Bellevue, Dayton, Ludlow have to do what they can to get their kids noticed.

So, 300 yards and 4 td's are necessary in some cases. I know the Buckler family and they do not have a problem with Ricky putting up these kind of numbers if schools like Georgetown or Campbellsville will show interest.

BTW, I know somebody is going to say "He has the chance to get injured", but that is all part of playing football.

    Bellevue wins rather handily.

  10. Not to be a homer but Nebraska jr. RB Roy Helu is going to shine this year. He had a nice season last year when he stepped in for Marlon Lucky and this off season he added muscle without losing a step and it shows. He had 16 car. for 152yds and 3 tds against FAU on saturday.

Dont forget about DL Ndamukong Suh. He will be as dominate as any lineman in recent years.

  11. Then he is on a really good team. Hergott, Kolp, Kramer....to name a few of the CCRD off the top of my head....those guys are just great people, not just coaches. They make kids better on all aspects of the game. And they have been doing it for years. I would be very thankful my kid played on that team too.

I have been a Red Devil supporter for a long, long time. I played bor them in the mid 60's. Both my sons played there in there in the later 70's and early

80's (one of whcih went on to play in college). Now my grandson is there. The guys you mentioned know a ton about football. I am glad my grandson is getting such good coaching.

BTW, I can see a senior superbowl match-up of CCRD and BT. The two best backs in the senior division Scruggs and Harris battling it out!

  12. The NKYFL has been producing great talent for decades. I know not all the coaches share my beliefs about playing time (I think every kid should get in the game) but the league is moving in a great direstion. They split the 8 & 9 year old division into two seperate teams. This gets more playing time. They are thinking of doing the same to the junior level too. But it would be a shame to lose the senior division. Some areas do not have middle school programs. So this lets those kids have a team to play for. Plus I the coaching is really good. Many of those senior coaches would be great varsity coaches, but they can't make the early practices due to work. The NKYFL lets us have a place to teach really good football. There are some really good resumes for these coaches out there.

I know that several area varsity coaches donate their time to coaching in the NKYFL. My grandson plays for the Red Devil seniors and they have at least two coaches who currently coach high school as well.

  13. Let me ask you this then. What is a 7th grader at St. Mary's who has never played football before supposed to do?

    Should he:

    1. Play Red Devils where he may not see the field due to its competitive nature.

    2. Get information about the CCYFL and find out that only Campell County Schools students can play.

    3. Not play football because Brossart could use it as a recruiting tool so that he becomes a Mustang in the future.

I vote he SHOULD play for the Red Devils. I have seen many, many middle school games and I will say that the quality of coaching does not even begin to compare with that of the Red Devils organization.

Why knock the Red Devils for being competitive? Score is also kept in the middle school league, right? And they have a playoff?

Brossart would have been well served by steering their future players to the Red Devils. They would save a ton of cost associated with starting up a feeder program all the while benefitting from great coaching.

If you want your kid to learn from the best coaches, have them play for a tradition rich organization, and have them challenged to be the absolute best they can be--then go Red Devils.

If you want your son to get a grass stain on his uniform simply because he signed up, then put him in a T-shirt league, like middle school.
