  1. So you are using numbers that almost made him MVP in 2017 to compare lol just because his numbers last year were not at an MVP level, doesn't mean it was a bad year. Once again the majority of starting major league baseball players would definitely take that season. Hence the backlash you have gotten by saying he was bad. He was not bad, he simply wasnt at an MVP level last season. Then you mention the start of this season is irrelevant because even in his MVP type years when he has finished in top 10 of voting he has gotten off to very slow starts. So using the start of this season carries very little weight in your argument. Now if you want to say his production last year didnt meet the financial aspects of what he is getting paid. Then you wouldn't get much push back. But as someone else mentioned most stars, when they get those huge contracts. Don't meet the value of the contract during its last few years. Just like guys like Bryce Harper, and probably even Mike Trout. While Trout is putting up historical numbers since he has been in the league, which led to his new rich contract. Most likely the last few years of his contract he won't be at the same amazing level as what got him that contract. So he may be playing good still at that time, but doesnt mean it would no longer be good enough to match his pay. Votto last year was not bad, he just simply wasn't MVP level like last year. However, the majority of players would have loved to have had his year last year. So it doesnt mean he was bad like you two keep saying. Just means he maybe didnt produce to the level of his contract, which eventually happens to all star players at the end of their contracts. So if you want to say he didnt produce to his contract last year, then no argument here.
  2. I'm pretty sure his rep was burning out young starting pitchers by keeping them in to long. So Bell is more the exact opposite right now.
  3. It's pretty simple compared to the majority of baseball players who played last year he still had a better year than most. A year where most players would love to have those numbers. Yes his homeruns and RBIs were down. But yet still top 3 in OBP, and you all seem to keep ignoring the fact he was in top 40 in both batting average and OPS. So basically he was better than 85% of all MLB baseball players last year in batting average. So by Votto standards he set for himself yes it was a down year. For the standard of a MLB player, he was still better than most. Which you all do realize the great job he does getting on base. Was the big reason why Gennett, and Suarez RBIs numbers were way up last year. Yet you all seem to focus on only one area. Not to mention the guys in front of Votto last year like Hamilton usually werent even able to get on base enough for him to get as many chances to hit them in. Like Votto gave the guys behind him by getting on base. In baseball the end goal is not to get out, if more players on the team also didnt get out like Votto then you also score that way too. What Votto has done is one of the big reasons why usually offense is not problem for the reds each year. Usually it is mainly the pitchers being the problem. So yes Votto usually does start slow, and usually does pick it up. Then especially even if he ends up with exact same numbers as last year, then he did a very good job for the offense. Especially since Bell has him hitting first or second a lot this year. Which the goal of that is for him to be on base, once he starts warming up.
  4. Well I guess three times of mentioning it wasn't enough. So the 4th time I have said he also was in the top 40 in all of baseball in batting average, and also top 40 in OPS. So there are 30 teams in baseball correct? 9 batters in the every day lineup every day. So 30 times 9 is 270. So he was in the top 40 out of 270 players. So he was in the top 15% of all baseball players in batting average last year. Better than 85% of all batters last year in baseball in batting average. But yeah ok he was bad. By his standards it was not a good year. For the standard of all MLB players he had a season the majority of players would have wanted to have.
  5. I am pretty sure I already addressed last years stats twice already, all you simply need to do is read it. However, to save you the time of going back and looking at the last two previous post in the last 2 hours. Votto was 3rd in all of baseball last year in OBP. Meaning he was doing what a hitter is suppose to do, and that is not getting out. He was 3rd best in baseball at doing that. Then he was in the top 40 of all players in baseball in batting average and OPS. So yeah his slow starts has always ended up being a good season by the end of the year. Was it great like most of his years, no. Was it still a good season, and not bad like you all claim, no. The majority of players in baseball would take the year he had last year still.
  6. Ok I looked at last year. 3rd in all of baseball in on base percentage, meaning he was getting out less than basically everyone in baseball. Then he was in the top 40 of all baseball in both batting average and OPS. So hmmm that doesn't seem to be like a bad season to me. In fact I think the majority of every starting baseball player in MLB would take that type of season every year.
  7. So he was pretty bad last year? He was 3rd in all of baseball in on base percentage and he was in the top 40 in all of baseball in batting average and OPS last year. Just because by Votto's standards it wasn't as good as some of his best years, doesn't mean it was a bad year at all. It seems to be more of what you wanting to believe than what really was. Just like this year Votto's slow start is similar to basically every first month or so of his career. Then he usually always has shown he will end up being one of the better hitters in baseball for the season when it is all said and done.
  8. What has it been like 6 years in a row where people freak out about Votto during first month of the season? I mean literally every year the stuff you are saying is the same stuff people have said for probably the last 6 years after the first month of the year. Saying he has lost it, he sucks, they just don't see him turning it around. Then guess what every single time has he turned it around, and been one of the best batters in baseball. So this isn't the first time he has started off a year cold compared to what his season average would end up being. So until we see this actually continue for a whole season, definitely way to early and way off base to act like he has lost it when it is normal for him to start off very slow.
  9. Agreed. I would be very surprised if he doesn't end up at Memphis. I would guess that UK probably was hoping he wouldn't reclassify, because their chances probably would have been better in 2020 than they are for this season.
  10. My guess is he ends up at Memphis. I think Johnny Juzang commits to UK in the next day or two and that probably all but ends UK's chances for Hampton because of the all of a sudden crowded backcourt. Hopefully I am wrong and they land both somehow.
  11. The main issue myself and a lot of others had was that they wouldn't have had to trade the whole draft to get a top QB this year. Next year they most likely will have to trade almost the whole draft and some of the year after that to move up to get one of the top guys. A lot of the mock drafts seem to think the Bengals will draft top 5 next year, meaning people think they will be worst than last year. Which I just don't see happening, the Bengals were horrible last year and injured and all that and still won 6 games and didn't even draft in the top 10. I think the Bengals will be better than people think and possibly make the playoffs. However, still no chance to truly compete once in the playoffs due to QB play. Unless Dalton does show it was more Marvin for his poor play in big games, and he steps up and does better. So I believe the Bengals will be drafting anywhere between 15 and 23 next year. Meaning they most likely will have to give up a crap ton to move up to get a top guy, unless they want to take a chance and get lucky like the Redskins did this year a guy falls to them. So that is the biggest reason myself and if you listen to Mo Egger at all are upset. Yeah they could still get a top QB next year, but next year they most likely will have to give up a lot to make it happen. When this year, it really wouldn't have cost them anything.
  12. I am hoping the Bengals plan is if Dalton shows he is still just average Andy even with a new HC. That next year they go all out to go get a top QB, even if it means giving up a lot of picks to get their guy. There may not be to many teams in the QB market next year at the top of the draft too, especially if Winston and Carr make strides this year for their teams. So the opportunity should be there to get one of the top 4 guys coming out next year in Tua, Herbert, Fromm, and Eason. There might be a chance there could be 5 top QB's next year to choose from depending on how Jalen Hurts does this year. Oklahoma just took two guys in Mayfield and Murray who were more thought of as 3rd or 4th round guys going into their last seasons, and turned them into the top overall picks. Hurts if he shows that same improvement in his passing, he may be a guy who could also sneak his way into top QB conversation.
  13. That is fine. I'm just saying if you all going to pound your chest about how you OSU fans know what you all are talking about with OSU. I just wanted to remind you all that a non OSU fan told you all about JT Barrett not being the right guy for you all before you all even wanted to believe it lol. I'm just having some fun and wanted to remind you all of that, because you all have been right on with most OSU since then .
  14. I'm sorry but you all lost like 10 points for you all defending JT Barrett a few years ago and saying he should be the starter. When myself a non OSU fan was saying OSU would have been better off with Cardale Jones starting, but yet you OSU fans disagreed and wanted to tell me how great JT Barrett was. Even though I told you all you would never win anything big with him! So you all still are trying to gain points for all the points you all lost with that lol. You all called it on this though for sure. If he wasn't trying to be a starter next year. Then this is very smart to go to OSU to sit the bench, and have a chance to get a ring.
  15. Dalton after 2015 probably gets a 2nd rounder. Dalton after the last three years probably would get a 4th round pick, or maybe a 3rd if a team is desperate because their starter got hurt. As for you thoughts on 25+ other teams not wanting to give up a 2nd round pick for Rosen. Well lets take a deeper look. AFC East: (Dolphins only team really needing a QB) Pats weren't going to give up a 2nd round pick to get a backup for them. Bills just drafted their guy last year. Jets drafted their guy last year too. Dolphins have an opening for a starter. AFC North (Bengals only team that doesn't have an elite QB, or just drafted a future franchise QB) Steelers just extended Big Ben and drafted Rudolph last year. Ravens drafted Lamar Jackson last year in 1st. Browns drafted Mayfield Bengals have a guy going into year 9 who has had one year that would be considered better than average. A guy who has played bad in big moments. AFC South (No one in the division looking for a QB) Colts have Luck Titans still holding out hope on Mariotta Texans just drafted Watson Jags already traded for their QB. AFC West (Raiders could have been a possibility) Denver had a 1st round talent fall to them in the 2nd, so no need to trade. Oakland has Carr, but could have been a possibility Chiefs have Mahomes enough said. Chargers a possibility but depends on how much longer they think Rivers can go. NFC East (No teams in need of one since Redskins got Haskins) Eagles drafted Wentz just 3 years ago Dallas drafed Prascott just 3 years ago Giants used the 6th overall on a QB. Redskins got Haskins NFC North (No team in need of one) Green Bay has Rodgers Detroit has Stafford Bears just drafted their guy 2 years ago Vikings just gave out a huge contract for a QB last year NFC South (Tampa could have been a possibility) Falcons have Ryan Saints Brees Bucs have Winston but could have been a possibility Carolina has Newton NFC West (No one was looking for one) 49ers have their guy Rams have their guy Cardinals obviously just drafted Murray Seattle has Wilson So looking at that there may have only been 5 teams at most that realistically would even consider giving up a 2nd rounder for him. The Dolphins, Bengals, Chargers, Raiders, Bucs. All these other teams have their franchise QB sets already. So it's more like only 4 other teams weren't willing to give up a 2nd rounder for him. Now if the 2nd round would have been completed, then you may have seen other teams eventually start offering once 3rd and 4th round started.
  16. At the end of the day and I am very guilty of this myself. We are judging this draft based off what we have seen with Lewis over the last 16 years. We have zero idea how Taylor will use these guys he drafted. He may use them in ways Lewis never did. So to be fair I do think we need to see how Taylor tends to use his draft picks. Sample may be a guy after we see how they use him, that makes us realize why they drafted him when they did.
  17. I would feel disappointed still because they could have had Rosen for a second rounder instead of Finley lol. I get what you are saying though. Most people are hung up on who they took in the second round. At the end of the day it was a pretty solid draft. Probably no stars, but a lot of guys who should be solid. I think they believe Sample will end up being like the TE Kittle for San Fransisco who was one of the top TEs in football last year. Kittle in college was a blocking TE and literally had about the same amount of receptions as Sample did in college.
  18. Hasn't the show also been about the Night King and the white walkers since the beginning? Every season talked about winter is coming leading up to this. So they had to at least build this all up to start this season, since the whole series was leading up to this battle. I do think a few others probably should have died though. Imo no way Sam should have survived, since he was also out there in the battle. The dude can't fight and yet somehow he survived lol. It will be interesting to see how this wrap it up though.
  19. Between seeing this movie and now game of thrones. Just wow!
  20. Mel Kiper gave the Bengals one of his best grades in the draft with an A-.
  21. Hey at this point I just have to accept it and hope with an offensive minded coach maybe it would also mean a better Dalton.
  22. The Bengals could have a real shot to be a top 5 running team in the NFL this year imo. Which should open up the play action and give them shots down field. Hopefully these new coaches can get him to hit that deep ball better with it. Could be an explosive offense if so.
  23. Overall solid first draft for Taylor. No need to discuss my feelings on qb anymore. So here is hoping the system Taylor uses brings out something new and great with Dalton and they can win a title together. Dalton is a great person, he is a person you want to see win. So hopefully he proves me wrong and leads this team to a title. Imo they have done a very good job putting pieces around him again and fixing the line. Should have a strong running game. So that should help him and the passing game too.
  24. See I feel like the Bengals will be better than people think. I mean the Bengals were horrible last year and all kinds of injuries and still won 6 games and didnt draft top 10. For them to have the 4th pick they will have to win only 3 or 4 games and I don't see that happening. As much as I want them to move on from Dalton. There is talent on this team and he is an average qb. So they will always be at worst a 6 win team and at best a 10 win team just never good enough to get over the top and never bad enough to have a top pick. That's why I was disappointed they didnt take advantage of how it played out this year. Obviously if they got Tua that be awesome. I am honestly a big Fromm guy and I hope he has a fall like a Haskins or Lock and they get him. But I think we will see 4 qbs taken in the top 10 next year, and the Bengals won't be in position to get him or any of them.
