  1. And the last 2 W's, if I'm not mistaken...he's on sabbatical.
  2. :thumb: I thought I had clarified that point as well, but I remember now that I chose to delete my response and that was part of it. Climate change is real. It's been going on ever since the earth was created. Human beings and CO2 isn't the cause of it. So, when I say I don't believe in climate change, I mean I don't believe climate change is the result of human activity. And, thanks for summing up my own thoughts on this subject better than I could ever hope to.
  3. It really wasn't that complex, but now you know. I thought it was rather simple. It's about actions. What you believe does no harm unless it leads to harmful actions. Remember that the next time I use a seemingly unrelated and extreme example to make a point. Perhaps this example would be more up your alley...There was no harm in the Titans front office believing Vince Young was a franchise QB. But, there was harm in them actually drafting him as such. Apology accepted.
  4. I should clarify. I wouldn't rate him ahead of Eli either. He's finally in a good situation, so he's got a chance to show how good he is. But, a 6-0 start and a few good games don't get him there just yet. He is 27-12 as a starter though. That's pretty good. But, Eli has a Super Bowl...that's better than pretty good.
  5. General Observation Alert: It's funny how a poor receiving group is an excuse for a guys like Jay Cutler, while Kyle Orton was just a bad QB. Ignore the fact that he won games in Chicago with those bad receivers...and that he posted very good numbers last year prior to an ankle sprain with those same receivers. Kyle Orton is a much better QB than people have ever given him credit for. And, that's reason #1 why I initially felt like Denver won in the trade with Chicago...
  6. You mean red, right? Green...er...that could only mean one thing.... Where's General Ross?
  7. You should read up on some of the private defense contractors like Blackwater. It might surprise you.
  8. :thumb: I'm glad you didn't take it any other way than I intended. I think we're in agreement...at least for the most part. We, as humans, need to be responsible, and part of that is taking care of the environment. (For example, we shouldn't dump toxic waste into a river.) However, I do not believe in climate change. I think it's a myth and the people pushing it are using it to push an agenda. What they want has nothing to do with "saving the earth". It's a tool they're using to bring about certain policies that they want implemented. Global warming was first. That was a lie. So, now it's climate change. They've managed to convince a large portion of the world that unless we stop CO2 it will bring about the end of the world. Question: Do you use gasoline and feed people? Or do you use the corn as an alternative fuel source so we can stop something that doesn't exist while people go hungry? This green policy is going to wreck the United States if they push it as far as they want to. Our economy isn't exactly rock solid right now, so what happens when cap-and-trade shuts down the coal industry or drives the price through the roof? People lose jobs...power shortage...insanely high power bills. That's just one example of what it could lead to if somebody with some common sense doesn't stop the insanity. I wonder how many of the "climate changers" will be happy the first time they get a power bill that's about 10 times what it used to be. Or, how many will be happy the first time the United Nations votes that we have to pay Africa a couple hundred billion dollars for loss of dignity, and the president has to raise taxes to try to compensate. Can't see the forest for the trees...and by that time, we sure won't be able to cut one down.
  9. That was not an attack on you. I was illustrating a point that when a person's beliefs lead to actions that are harmful, problems arise. The example of Islamic terrorists clearly accomplishes that goal. I'm truly sorry that the majority of people in the P & R forum aren't intelligent enough to distinguish between the two...but, I expect no less. Besides, it's easier to engage in a meaningless rant than actually address the substance of the post, which nobody has done. :idunno: We're only a trillion dollars in the hole...what could paying another 2 or 3 trillion to Africa for loss of opportunity and dignity due to our fossil fuel burning hurt?
  10. I guessed Philly early in the season last year and they ended up winning it. I stress the term "guessed". I'll take the Phillies again...in 6.
  11. According to Rivals, UGA hasn't finished outside of the top 10 in recruiting dating back to 2002...I can't say about anything before that. Richt has been incredibly consistent with his recruiting, and his teams have been consistently good since he's been there. From '02 through '09, Georgia's average class rank by rivals was 6.4. LSU's was 8, Florida's was 7.6. My guess is that speaks to the consistency produced by continuity on the coaching staff...these other schools had coaching changes and consequently some years where the recruiting slipped a bit. However, if you look at elite recruits...over that same span, despite having the highest average ranking and never finishing outside the top 10, UGA brought in 9 5-star recruits. LSU had 16. Florida had 22. For comparison's sake, Southern Cal had 31 5-star recruits during that span. In fact, over 70% of their commitments are 4-star or higher.
  12. Garbage? You're a hoot. There's no way Richt could overachieve. You've pegged Georgia as a continuous title contender. He can only maintain or disappoint. I'm curious to know how Urban Meyer and Nick Saban have overachieved. Apparently, winning big at Florida and Alabama is unheard of. Richt isn't lucky. That's what he isn't. He doesn't get to play for BCS Titles with two losses...he gets shafted out of a shot at the title because of some dumb tie-breaker rule in 2007. He's like Tuberville. Guy goes undefeated in the SEC and doesn't even get to play for the title. Auburn was stupid for messing up a good thing. They had a good coach and wouldn't leave him alone. Now they'll suffer the consequences.
  13. He just wasn't lucky enough to get to play for a BCS Title in one of multiple loss seasons. In '07 when LSU won the title, Georgia finished in a three way tie for the SEC East championship and was shut out of the SEC Title game, while the Vols got served up to Les Miles. Georgia finished #2 in the polls that year.
  14. Les Miles over Richt? Really? I wouldn't. If you want to talk about underachieving, look at Miles. LSU is and has been absolutely loaded with talent...if you look at recruiting over the past decade, there was a stretch when the Tigers were second only to USC in the amount of talent they stockpiled. Miles gets a pass because of the championship, but they lost two games during that season...to teams that were clearly inferior. It just so happened that he had the not good, but great, fortune of playing in a year when everybody lost, most more than once and managed to get to the big game with two losses. And, the icing on the cake was that tOSU was the lamb sent for the slaughter, so they got a free pass in the big game. There's a lot of luck that goes into winning a BCS Title...LSU loses two games and gets Ohio State in the big game. Auburn goes undefeated and doesn't get an opportunity. Miles is a great coach. Tuberville gets fired. Richt has never had the opportunity to play in the big game either, despite finishing with a better regular season record than the Tigers did in Miles title season. Considering how little control a coach actually has over the title process, I think too much emphasis is placed on it.
  15. :thumb: He's a great coach, IMO. Florida State sure hasn't been the same since he bolted for Georgia...although that would speak more to his ability as offensive coordinator. But, look at their offensive production under Richt in the 90's and what it has been since. Per wikipedia... Under Richt’s direction, Florida State had some of college football's most explosive offenses; in his seven years as offensive coordinator, the Seminoles ranked in the nation’s top five scoring offenses on five occasions, were top twelve in total offense five times, and top twelve in passing offense five times. The 2000 Seminoles offense finished the regular season ranked first nationally in total offense (549.0 yards per game), first in passing offense (384.0 ypg), and third in scoring offense (42.4 points per game). While an assistant coach at Florida State, Richt coached two Heisman Trophy winners, quarterbacks Charlie Ward and Chris Weinke, and was part of two national championships (1993 and 1999). The struggles offensively for FSU began almost immediately upon his departure and haven't been fixed yet (although Ponder has looked better this year). They haven't had a good QB in a long time. The 'Noles used to always have a good QB and some studs at WR.
  16. :thumb: I agree with Brooks. Tebow looks more tentative. It seems like he's not running with that same reckless abandon. But, I also agree that Florida wasn't dominant before that. I just think college football is in a down year...the top three are all undefeated, yet none of them look like #1 teams to me. In the past few years, it seems like there has been a handful of teams in every season better than the top teams of 2009. I believe the Gators miss Percy Harvin more than people expected. He was a special player...just having speed doesn't make you Percy Harvin. Florida has speed. But, they don't have that elite playmaker to lean on. Harvin just had a knack for big plays. Sometimes that's what a team like Florida needs to get kick started.
  17. Kansas City Chiefs... It happened once.
  18. Glad to see him finally join the party...he should be a factor at 205. I wonder if Shogun's brother will join the UFC.
  19. Also, is that Big Nog or his brother scheduled to fight Luiz Cane at UFC 106? I can't remember which one is Rodgrigo and which is Rogerio.
  20. Is Silva and Belfort still fighting at 108? I thought somebody told me that Silva was injured and they weren't fighting in January. If they are, getting that fight and Brock on the same card is definitely worth watching.
  21. UFC needs to revamp their scoring system. The 10-9 round scoring is not the best way to judge MMA fights, IMO. They should judge the fight after it's completed. I told my wife that I bet the judges scored the first three rounds for Machida because Shogun didn't overwhelm him with power, and they were operating on the assumption that you give the champion the benefit of the doubt if there's no big flurry of damage (too bad Rampage didn't get those judges). So, presto, first two rounds go to Machida...third round is the only one of the five that he might have actually won...and the fight is essentially over. By the time it became obvious that Shogun was executing his game plan to perfection and wearing Machida out, it was too late thanks to this dumb scoring system. So, reading online after the fight, I find that two of the three judges scored the first three rounds for Machida. Barring a KO or sub, the fight is over. Also, Yahoo had an article blaming Shogun and his corner for thinking they were ahead and not being aggressive in the last couple of rounds. Was the writer a relative of the judges? There was no blame to be placed on Shogun. He executed his plan to perfection and got robbed of the 205 pound title. It wouldn't have mattered what he did in the last two rounds...the fight was over. At best he could have lost a split decision instead of unanimous. Hopefully, Shogun can KO Machida next time around and leave no doubt.
  22. :thumb: Bend, but don't break. The Vikings may have amassed some yardage and moved between the 20's, but Pittsburgh stoned them in the red zone. Ultimately, that's all that matters.
  23. OK. Dana should make the judges buy the PPV for everybody who wasted their money the first time around. Is that satisfactory?
