Considering how many people said that Louisville's recruiting was going to fall apart after Petrino's departure, and that all their recruits were going to get poached, I think it's fair to praise what Koach has done so far.

As I've said before, I avoid using their stats as much as possible, they're frequently broken. However, it is still accurate to say that Nate Harris was not a consistant starter at MLB this season, as Lamar Myles started several times over him.

I guess it is, too. Nate Harris didn't start until injury ended Matt Sanders' career.

Plenty of people saw something wrong with U of L's offer of a greyshirt for a certain player that ended up at UK. But that's neither here nor there- I agree that it is a mitigating factor.

But never in his adult life.

I know for a flaming fact that is not true about Harris. Even if he did 'start' a few early he was pulled pretty durn quick. He didn't own the position till late last year. He also didn't start every game this year, Lamar Myles stole a few. I was wrong about Sharp (who moved around on position, that's what messed me up) and Quarterman, but not Gay or Foster. I know Foster missed for injury, but he still wasn't a starter last year. And Gay started off and on. You listed 11 guys. Only 4 of them could be called consistant 2 year starters. Especially since a few of them didn't even consistantly start this year.

Consistant 2 year starters? Just Brown and Okoye.

It happens. It's tough for the kid, package deal or not. For one thing, signing day is almost here. It's a scramble for him now. I don't think this proves UK is 'classless' or anything like that. I have the same view about this as I did the in Durham's case (minus the timing, but then Brad was pressured to committ early, so maybe that balances.) But I'd be lying if I didn't think about the potshots that were taken when the shoe was on the other foot, and wonder about them now. Some of those even came from Brooks, who basically said 'we don't pull kids' offers.' Which is a stupid thing to say in collegiate athletics, because they would be the first and last to keep to that.

Vaughn was the paintball guy. Of that list, only one had a serious run in while at U of L (Woodard) and that was when I was, what, 2001? Johnelle's tenure, for sure. After that, the only incident at U of L was the paintball thing. Stupid to be sure, but it wasn't quite on the level of most of what you hear about in the crimes and misdemeanors section of the Sports page. Every other guy on your list was/has been clean on campus, and a few really turned themselves around and became positive forces. And felon/convict, does that really apply to everyone on your list?

:thumb: Like I've said before, people deserve second chances. He appears to be taking advantage of his, since he's been out of trouble for a few years now. He grew up in a bad situation, and his sins were as a minor... we shouldn't even KNOW about them. But we do, and they'll haunt him everywhere he goes. Not exactly how our juvenille system is supposed to work, but if he keeps it turned around it will be a source of strength. Good luck to him.

Just sayin'. Lots of people claimed that a lot of the Durham outrage was over the fact that he was a local, and they were roundly answered in the negative.

I think pretty clearly my beef is with the attitude in the thread I linked, not with UK's actions.

What say you? Henry Minor was a package deal. Kentucky offered, he verballed, his buddy verballed. Now that his buddy switched to La Tech, Kentucky pulled his. Just the business of collegiate athletics, IMO but I'm sure many of the UK fans have a different opinion. Don't forget your pitchforks.
