  1. I moved from Kentucky many years ago, our kids played sports and now live in Chicago suburbs. I am able to see several games a year in Kentucky (some regular season, 10th region andstate tourneys, 5th/3rd) and watch a fair amount here. Kentucky teams can play with the Illinois and Chicago teams. The best teams in Illinois are not always the Chicago teams but overall the Cook County teams are stronger than the downstate ones. It is sort of like Louisville, Lexington and the rest in Kentucky. The Chicago public league is particularly strong year in and year out. Catholic beat a very strong team in besting Simeon althuogh they are down a bit from last year. The #1 team is Young that just beat Scot County by 3 or 4. Young has 6 Div 1 players. Scot Co. must be playing very well without Mackey to play with Young. I see oak hill beat up Hales Francison that has a very talented team. I wish more Kentucky schools could play the Illinois schools. They would be competitive games.
  2. I suspect we will see a lot of reserves in this game. Remember the Royals have to ride a bus to Pikeville the next day for a game with a top rated Tenn. team. Then Saturday night a bus back to Northern Ky to stay in a hotel and leave for Hawaii Sunday morning. Might be a bit tiring but noone is complaining i am sure. When reserves are better than the opposition in a lopsided game, the score can get out of hand. Coaches are seldom satisfied in any sport with a score large enough as always fearful of a comeback by a team that continues to play hard i.e. Cov Cath. Cant tell kids not to play and when reserves are playing and continue to outplay and outscore opponents this is just part of the game. This happens is every sport regardless of sport or age of the players.
  3. Do you have any stats on the JV game, and what was the score? the Crazies are something else.

  11. Thanks for the analysis. I wonder during the first half especially if the Royals were really ready to play as sounded a bit sloopy.Royals have to be ready each and every night with the schedule they have and teams giving best effort. Coaches cant allow this team to become complacent and think they can win by showing up. That "aint goin happen" Defense in my mind wins big games and seemed as if the defense was not real good until last half of 4th quarter. Sloppy and not executing press.Sparks must have been unconscious but hard to believe anybody can score 41 against the Royals when we are ready to play. A good win though and Cov Cath will be tough as well. Hope the stripes let these two run up and down the floor will be great hard fought game. I hope the refs let them play not like the TC game. Downing is more impressive each game. He is one of those players who knows the game and plays it much like Hamm who is giving solid minutes. Middleton is a competitior as show by coming back and making the free throws in the clutch. Setty needs to get going. Darius when going is tough just seems to find a way to win. The Royals might need to resurrect Tony Browning who last year often provided an emotional spark when we needed it. Not sure who this is but Downing is during it now in his quiet unassuming way.
