@TheDeuce, I take it all back. I just saw the awful and outdated joke he made. I'm worried about your hire now lol
Which one? Where God lives? 😎

You gotta love that guy Deuce. I am a UL fan but not close to the fan you are and I am excited about this hire. I will be shocked if he doesn't have UL winning next year. He will find a way.
I'm very excited. Cautiously optimistic still, but excited.
He's seemingly the jolt of energy the program needs, and it seems like he just gets it. That's cliche, but it's the truth. He addressed all the elephants in the room, with confidence, which I think was awesome. He knows what Louisville Basketball has been and what it should be and is not shying away from it.
During the players meeting yesterday, one of them was obviously not paying attention, PK stopped and said to him "You're going to look at me when I'm talking to you." Immediately instilling the discipline he requires, that has been absent for two years.
Press conferences don't win games, but you won't find a better first day than that.

Kelsey is already working on roster management and eyeing targets from the portal.
He's done more work in 18 hours than Kenny Payne did in 24 months.

Gotcha, that makes a lot of sense. I was a little confused at first because I thought Kelsey might be exactly what the program needs right now.
He has an edge, and that is also a requirement at Louisville. If he's successful, that will go a LONG way with the fans.

Didn't seem like @TheDeuce was thrilled with this development, but I think I'd rather have him than Lil Pitino.
I've cooled off.
To be honest, my frustration is much more centered around the chaos of the search, rather than it being Kelsey. That's not his fault.
Initially, I love his personality and the fire it seems he has. Seems like he has a tenacious work ethic, which is required. I do think he could win over the fan base eventually with that.

I pity the coach on the franchise that drafts Shedeur because they are going to be instantly on the hot seat that if they don't win the talk will be that Deion will be the next coach.
I don't think that's true.

I think this hire just goes to show how the coaching landscape is right now. Not a lot to choose from and the top choices are happy where they are. I'd say that had a lot to do with why Calipari is back at Kentucky.
You're right. It just sucks. Basketball hasn't been fun around here for a decade. I'm over it.

This is a good hire for UK.

What surprised me from the show was the pretty unanimous agreement that Cal has gotten lazy. That wasn't just from the KSR guys, but also from Cal's buddy Seth Greenberg. And how evidently, other people have tried to talk to Cal about that.
They also said, and it was Drew Franklin specifically who said, that two assistants on Cal's staff are "stealing money." They didn't specify the assistants. Also criticized the staff for not having any representation whatsoever at the Sweet 16 to watch Travis Perry or Malachi Moreno.
In short, it was a discussion that did not paint Calipari and his staff in the most positive light. You really do hate to see it.

Hey @TheDeucedoes Kelsey being a former colleague of Chris Mack at Xavier possibly hurt him or not?
I don't think it's a factor any more than his overall resume is. A lot of Louisville fans really liked Mack, myself included.

Because of how long it is taking?
Everyone has known for at least a year we'd be searching for another coach.
I don't care that Scott Drew said no. That was expected, and that's not a knock on Heird. He took a shot at a "premier" coach and he chose not to come. I'm good with that.
We were led to believe that there was always a "clear #2 that would take the job" in the event Drew said no. That was supposedly Dusty May. Of course we'll never know the specifics of what happened, but as of about noon this past Saturday, everyone at Louisville was convinced May was coming. By that night, he signed a deal with Michigan. It's come to light since then that apparently May wasn't keen on the idea of being in the spotlight like he would be as Louisville's coach. How do we not know that already? What were we doing in the vetting process?
Since then, we've heard an assortment of less than stellar names. It looks like there was no plan in place after Drew, and that simply can't happen. Now we're down to Josh Schertz and Pat Kelsey? That's embarrassing.
Heird's career rests on this hire, and it's not looking good at this point.

I've been trying to give Josh Heird the benefit of the doubt the entire time he's been AD, but he's botched this just about as bad as you possibly could.

Why isn't Jerome Tang in the loop for this hire? I feel like he'd be solid.
He's one we haven't heard much about and I can't figure out why.
