  1. I thought it would be neat to look at how things would be shaping up this season if next years alignment were already in place. I used the rankings from the Lexington paper and this is how things would fall. Please forgive if there are errors it wasn't as easy to compile as I thought it would be. I also included the current alignemnt for comparison A 1. Beechwood 77.0 (2nd in A) 2. Mayfield 71.2 (4th in A) 3. Lou. Holy Cross 66.4 (6th in A) 4. Frankfort 57.1 (7th in A) 5. Raceland 54.1 (9th in A) AA 1. Danville 79.1 (1 in A) 2. Bardstown 75.4 (3rd in A) 3. New Cath. 69.5 (5th in A) 4. Trigg Co. 64.8 (5th in 2A) 5. Ft. Campbell 63.3 (7 2A) AAA 1. Lou. Central 75.3 (7th in 3A) 2. Paducah Tilghman 71.5 (9th in 3A) 3. Belfry 66.6 (3rd in 2A) 4. Russell 65.5 (4th in 2A) 5. Breathitt Co. 57.0 (10th in 2A) AAAA 1. Lex. Cath. 80.2 (5th in 3A) 2. Franklin Co. 78.8 (6th in 3A) 3. Western 72.0 (2nd in 2A) 4. Bell Co. 71.3 (10th in 3A) 5. Larue Co. 64.6 (6th in 2A) AAAAA 1. Highlands 87.4 (1 in 3A) 2. Cov. Cath 87.1 2nd in 3A) 3. Bowling Green 87.0 (3rd in 3A) 4. Christian Co. 82.0 (5th in 4A) 5. Warren Central 81.7 (6th in 4A) AAAAAA 1. Male 92.5 (1in 4 A) 2. Lou. Trinity 90.6 (2 in 4A) 3. St. X 89.9 (3 in 4A) 4. Henry Clay 86.3 (4 in 4A) 5. Manual 81.6 (7th in 4A)
  2. It's never too early to start. Who figures to contend for a trip to Richmond from your region? Here is how I see the 12th shaping up. 1. Somerset 2. Danville 3. Monticello 4. Burgin
  3. I can asure everyone that Wilson Sears was aware of the injured players when he made the change. I had several conversations with him during the year in which we discussed that very thing. I think he was unhappy with the direction the program was headed in, the last couple years and decided to make a change. My understanding is that the number of girls involved in the program had drop off. Sometimes a change has to be made just for the sake of change. It gives the program a fresh start. A quality coach in Brown is leaving and a quality coach in Adkins is moving in.
  4. Good news for Cumberland, at a time when they are in the news for all the wrong reasons. Dustin will make a fine player there this is a good example of a player signing at the right level.
  5. One of the classiest coaches in the 12th. Good Luck in th future Jim Brown. http://www.somerset-kentucky.com/sports/local_story_068080952.html?keyword=topstory
  6. Brian Staed of Boyle Co. committed to G-town this week. Danville Advocate Messanger
  7. Looks like SW didn't have the right number of girls games on Friday and Saturday nights. Danville Advocate Messenger
  8. 46th District East Jessamine- A (12-5) My first thought here was A+ but the schedule could be a little tougher. As physical a team as you find in the region. They turn the ball over to much to make me comfortable but when the offense is rolling they score points in bunches. West Jessamine C- (9-10) A few quality wins keeps this from being even lower, inconsistent is the only way to describe them. The team seems to give a great effort but the results just haven’t followed. Harrodsburg D- (5-13) Lack of a quality win makes this a low grade, close games of late keeps it from being an F. Young kids do show promise for the future. Mercer Co. D (8-8) The record would normally warrant a C, but the lack of any wins over high quality teams means they have been playing down to their competition. Burgin D- (3-12) This should be lower but the Bulldogs are not dealing with a great deal of talent. They do play hard and that keeps this from being a failing grade. 45th District Garrard Co. F (3-12) Yes they are young, but a school this size should be able to field a team that can at least keep the score respectable. Too many blow outs in Golden Lion land. Danville B+ (11-3) Recent losses to Lincoln and Boyle combined with a soft schedule keep this just out of the A range. But the Admirals have a real chance to make some noise in the 12th this season. No one else has their athletic ability. Lincoln Co. A- (10-8) The record isn’t great but a top notch schedule will have the Pats ready come tourney time. Their lack of a big man makes them weak in the middle but if the game is played at their pace they can beat anyone. Boyle Co. B (7-9) The losing record is not what the Rebels had in mind when the season started, but injuries and a though schedule took there toll. Don’t look now but wins over Danville, Lincoln, and East Jessamine might mean they are rounding into the team everyone feared before the season started. KSD C (1-13) With a 1-7 record against other Deaf schools this is not the strongest team the Cornels have fielded. 47th District Pulaski Co. F (7-8) Look up out of control in the dictionary and you may see the Maroons looking back at you. The coach just resigned and the players are more interested in fighting than playing. There is too much talent here to be below .500. If the new coach can get them focused they do have the parts to make a run at the end of the year. Rockcastle Co. C (9-10) Life is like a box of chocolates: “You never know what your going to get”. With the transition to a new coach the Rockets took some lumps early but seem to have things headed in the right direction now. Somerset A (12-4) The record is nice but when you take into account the injuries the Bunnies have had this season it really starts to look impressive. Offense is sometimes a problem but the defense keeps them in every game. Casey Co. D+ (6-11) They have what every coach wants a true post player. Guard play and post entry passing keeps them coming up short. If they ever learn their rolls they will get better quickly. 48th District Southwestern A+ (12-7) Hustle and 3pt shooting put this team near the top of the regional standings. Add in a lack of post play, very little depth and a quality schedule and this is may be Coach Schultz best job ever. Wayne Co. F (3-14) Sorry but you can only talk about youth for so long. A school this big shouldn’t have back to back years where they aren’t competitive. McCreary Central C+ (11-4) OK so the schedule is as soft as a feather pillow. The schedule may look like there competing for the TN state title but they are winning games and they have defeated 2 of the other 3 teams in the district. Monticello D (5-12) Only the victory over Wayne early in the year keeps this from being a failing grade. The Trojans must improve in almost every phase of the game.
  9. Legendary basketball mentor said he had "health concerns" JV coach Mark Flynn has been offered the job on an intrim basis but has not yet excepted. All this per the Somerset Commonwealth Journal 1/24/06
  10. 12th 1. Danville 2. Somerset 3. Monticello 4. Burgin 5. Harrodsburgh
  11. By the way South Laurel is about 3 1/2 miles East of I-75
