I wonder why anyone would start with their #3 in a best of 3 series?
Could it possibly be that their top two couldn't pitch? I know Estill just won the 24th over the weekend.
SL has too much offensive firepower to lose this one. Estill has a few bats, but they drop off in a major way after the first 4-5 hitters.
22 from Estil has a very good bat, is he going to play somewhere in college?

Good to hear from you. Haven't seen you in a while.
I've been on the road. I'm planning on going to this game tonight.
-
The games are at North Laurel aren't they?
Yes, I believe tonight at 7.

My company had a meeting last week at the conference center in Georgetown, which is where the Bengals train. There was 10-15 HBO people doing their initial examination of the facilities figuring out camera locations, lighting, etc.

I remember Burger Beer, the radio ad on the Reds broadcasts said "Burger Beer, made with Artesian water..."
I'm told that you can still get Hudepohl on tap at a few dives in Cincy.

I had it today and thought it was great. A bit pricey, but I'll go back.

Exacta Box: Dunkirk, Friesan Fire, Mr. Hot Stuff.

Does he have any real qualifications other than "ex-UK player?"
Jim, We're talkig about running a basketball facility, not exactly rocket science. Lighten up, Frances!

I'm still on the fence about this issue. I do think that gym capacity, parking, etc. should be considered before allowing a school to host.
Does the arena have plenty of parking now? I thought they were having to shuttle people to an off site lot?

I've been to Fenway. It is hands down my favorite MLB Park. I rank it 1, Wrigley 2, Yankee Stadium 3, and Camden Yard 4th.

I don't know about Laurel Co. but I've known more than one princpal to hire who they want with no imput at all from the site base. With the right coach (one that stays awhile) there is no reason South and North can't have successful football programs.
It is the principal's hire. SBDMC has nothing to do with the hiring of coaches.

I wouldn't want my 16 year old daughter being coached/mentored by someone who thinks it is ok to pose nude.
-
I have a "gut" feeling that this thing doesn't end well for Pitino.
-
I definately believe the coach was turned in over the girl not being allowed to try out. I also think that the coach should be fired.

First one in a year or more.

I remember this day like it was yesterday. I grew up in Ohio, between Cincinnati and Dayton. I was with a friend at our club house, and the sky went black. We looked up and saw a funnell cloud and ran into the house. We got underneath our pool table, and the storm passed. I also remember the sound. It honestly sounded like a train was passing our house. Unbelievably loud. We didn't suffer much damage, but about 20-30 minutes later the town of Xenia was wiped out.

Wonder where he'll move to now?

Absolutely. After all, didn't Pat Forde base an entire article on why this could be a bad hire? That was the talk 2 years ago about why they didn't talk to Calipari then. They did their homework and now have their guy. Like I said before, I bought into some of the talk and have been a little leery, but I do believe that they are very comfortable with this hire, so I will bite. They knew this would be the talk, ... Mitch knew it, Calipari knew it and they dealt with those issues up front and head on. The best defense is a good offense and I think they did a very good job of going on the attack first.
I don't understand Woodsider's dislike of Mitch either. EVERY athletic program at UK (except basketball, but now most seem to think with this hire they are on the right track) is in better shape now then before he got here. He showed really backbone when he stood by Brooks and for good reason. The athletic program is one of the few in the entire country that is entirely self funded, ... they give money back to the university for other scholarships not athletic related (over $1 million last year per Lee Todd). He admitted that he made a mistake when he hired Gillispie, recognized the mistake, corrected it, and moved forward.
I think we are very fortunate to have him as our athletic director at UK. :thumb:
And that mistake was caused by Donavon's accepting the job verbally, and leaving Mitch (and UK) at the Altar.

"Mom and Dad, I'd like you to meet the woman I'm going to marry."
"Tell us about her, son."
"Well, she has no jail record. I've had her tested for STDs and she came back clean. I even had her checked TWICE! I called all of her former teachers to make sure she never cheated on any tests. I asked her former neighbors if she ever threw rocks at their dogs. I verified that her breasts are real."
"Uh huh."
:puke:

What's wrong with answering a question before it comes up? I liked the fact that he took it head on.
As for Woodsider's dislike of Mitch, I don't get it. He's a class act that cares greatly about the welfare of ALL of UK's student athletes. UK is extremely fortunate to have him.

Let the South Laurel basketball job come open and you'll see how creative they are in Laurel Co.
They give lip service to football in Laurel Co. and that is about it.
I really don't think that would matter.
-
I thought they could hire a head coach, and promise to find a position for him, but the problem comes in finding positions for any assistant coaches.
-
I believe this wasn't all Mitch Barnhart — you guys are blind if you believe that. There is no way this guy went solo on this and did all the decision making by himself. No way, no how.
He did make the decision. He got counsel from a few others, but he did make the call.
-
I don't recall Donovan giving as much thought to it as Calipari did. It was obviously a difficult decision, and if he took this much time to think about it and came anyway, I don't see it being the same situation.
Most of this was media hype. The decision was made around noon today.
Heading to Destin - Any Advice?
in BGP Break Room
Posted
We have a place in Destin and try and get down there 4-5 times per year. Needless to say, we love it down there.
Our hands down favorite restaurant is The Red Bar http://theredbar.com, which is in Grayton Beach, about a 20 minute drive. They only have 4-5 items on the menu each night, but I promise you the food is excellent, and it's one of the more reasonably priced places around.
I'd also reccomend breakfast at Another Broken Egg. They have a few locations (one in Destin, one on 30A towards Grayton Beach, and one in the lobby of the Sandestin Hilton.
Mcguires Pub, which someone else mentioned, is very good, but a bit pricey.
Finally, we really like AJ's for their blackened grouper. AJ's is down by the fishing docks. After dinner you can step outside and walk around the marina and over to a new little shopping area nearby.
If you have any other Destin questions, feel free to PM me. Enjoy your trip...
