  1. This is weird to say, but I think they knew Baltimore couldn't go 70 yards or more on them 3 times so they got conservative calling plays and running the clock out. Their receivers were shut down so bad that they put Ray Rice in the slot so they could throw the ball to someone w/o it getting picked or knocked down. Their two corners dominated that game.

Very true. Baltimore might be good if it had decent receivers. The Bengal corners were much better than the Baltimore recievers. I think this was a big difference in the game.

Jim- Lighten up a little and let us enjoy where we're at. I understand that things could implode, that's more the reason why we need to enjoy the best start in 20 years, and 4 wins over our division rivals.

  2. If a LB or DL crushes a QB or a RB he is awesome, but when a WR knocks a LB on his butt he is dirty. It just makes me laugh.

I seriously doubt that Ward earned his reputation on that one hit. I'm just glad to see his peers have voted him dirtiest. I've thought it for years, but wondered if I was just seeing him through my orange and black striped glasses. I guess not.

  3. Am I the only one that thinks Winston Guy should be taken off the starting D? Not just tonite but on third downs he plays to deep in the zone and gives up a lot of ground for recievers to come underneath him, he also trys to go for the big hits instead of securing a tackle, resulting in recievers getting YAC and first downs.

I'm with you Chachi. He did a lot of sitting last night. I think the coaching staff, while enamored with his athletic ability, is getting sick of his poor play and attitude.

  4. ^He does need to wrap up better, buy man he delivers some hits out there. I think we are better with him on the field.

Not me. Brooks agreed with me the 2nd half of the game. I don't even think he delivers many hard hits. All he does is dive at players with his shoulder.

  5. I had the pleasure of being at this one, it was an awesome time and a great win. What a great venue Auburn has.Very nice, but well short of Tuscaloosa. Fans were classy as well. Those who keep talking about a hostile environment have missed the mark. The Auburn fans were pretty quiet until the end of the fourth quarter.

Things must look a lot different on television, we thought that Newton looked pretty dang good. He missed some throws, but looked pretty poised and showed great pocket presence. I believe his main flaw was he tucked and ran too quick, which was probably born out of the early success he had using his legs. Many of the missed throws were longer balls, and he typicall just nearly missed. I'd blame this on timing, which should get better with more reps.

As for Fidler, he's got a great arm, and has a lot of velocity on his passes, but appears to have no touch at all. He missed his receiver on a few very easy short throws, and needs to work on the touch throws.

I see UK using both Fidler and Newton. IMO Harltine will struggle to ever get back on the field for UK from here on out.

Side note: Anyone else sick of the play of Winston Guy? I know I sure am. I don't know if you could tell on tv, but it appears that Coach Brooks may be as well. They went at it, and Brooks benched Guy for most of the second half.

  6. Im still pumped about that last drive. Thats what good teams do and Im not used to seeing that out of the Bengals. I dont think I could have wrote a better ending to that game as a bengals fan.

Carson's starting to shake the rust off.

In our first 3 games, that's actually 2 game winning drives* at the end of the game for CP and the Cincinnati offense.

*should have been in Denver game.

  7. This matchup is turning into a pretty big rivalry game. The reason I say this is it feels as good or better to beat Clay as it does to beat SL!

Great job by Coach Larkey and his staff in preparing the Jags for this game. Both teams came out with different offensive game plans than they usually run. NL ran a lot of the wildcat offense with Wardrup, and Clay came out throwing the ball. It worked for NL, and didn't for Clay.

I hope/pray that the two Clay players that left the game will be alright, but I wouldn't be suprised if Hooker's injury wansn't season ending.

  8. The beginning of my list would look something like this!

    1. Carson Palmer - The greatest to ever play (eventually we hope!)

    2. Greg Cook - The greatest to ever play and be done too quickly

    3. Boomer Esiason - The master of the play action pass

    4. Kenny Anderson - Mr. Consistency

    5. Jon Kitna - Jesus was on his side!

    6. Jeff Blake - Just a nice guy.

    :dancingpa

I respect your list, but of those, here's my ranking of Bengal QB's:

    1. Kenny Anderson - should be in the HOF

    2. Boomer - got us to Super Bowl, best ever at play action

    3. CP - if stays healthy, could take us to the promise land

    4. Shake and Blake - Threw the deep ball as good as anyone

    5. Virgil Carter - I loved to watch him hook up with Issac Curtis

    6. Greg Cook - Could have been great, but injury got him

    7. Jon Kitna - 1 good season

  9. My wife was just at a Shell station where she paid $ 2.47 or so for a gallon of gas and while she was filling up, the attendant came out and up'd the price into the $ 2.60's and said that it would be going up all weekend. What in the world is going on now that justifies this increase? I still say that the oil companies and the banks are the most crooked entities in this country and are a huge part of why we are in the tough economic times that we are.

Please explain this to me.

  10. We did have one personal foul called on us. It was a late hit out of bounds. From where I sat it didn't appear to be a cheap shot....it was on the far side line.

It was a cheap shot, right in front of me. Wardup was slammed to the ground a good 5 yards out of bounds.

I was at the game, watched every down, and must have missed all of the cheap shots. I do think there was hard hitting, and it did get a little chippy, but nothing dirty that I saw. I have to admit, I'm a little shocked at the negative comments about NL and its fans. I expected comments on how physical NL was, and good luck the rest of the season. All the negative comments really shocked me. The game must have appeared different from the other side of the field.
