I understand she will walk on this year, as bellarmine is losing maybe 4 or 5 seniors next year. either way she is playing. Alright I will leave Richey alone it is just that I know so much more than you think and we do not have the same thoughts about what kind of coach he is and we'll leave it at that. Good luck Amber.

I hear from a very reliable source Grant County senior Amber Billiter will be playing her college basketball at Bellarmine university. This is great news considering no one gave her a chance including the great coach Bert Richey (shows how much he knows he said she couldn't play at the next level) and she is going to play Div2. She had a number of offers to play at other colleges. Congratulations Amber you deserve it. Good luck.

I would also give some credit for the turnaround at grant county to the players, Amber Billiter and Garnett come to mind. I just wish bert would have stayed around so we can see just how good of a coach he is without those two. I think Billiter got a raw deal from him, the injury at the beginning of last year comes to mind and if bert reads this he knows he messed her whole season up. But I think she will go on to play in college in spite of Mr. Richey. If he wasn't so concerned with 20 wins he would have had the girls ready for Walton and went back to regions. And funny he blamed everyone except himself.

Mr. Richey is not the only reason for the turn around at Grant County it has alot to do with the girls who have stayed together since middle school if not earlier. I believe Ms. Garnett singed with a recuriting service to help with her scholarship I don't believe Richey did much of anything to help with that. My feeling is that GC could have been much more successful if he was a better manager of people. I am not trying to use this as a crutch to put Mr. Richey down it is just that there are things I know about him that have hurt a few kids down there. The one player that comes to my mind first is Amber Billiter, I am a scout and I know this young lady can play at the next level and when you watch the games he has no idea how to use her, for whatever his reasons she should be tearing that district up but she is a complete team player first and in my mind he does nothing to help her. When was the last time he practiced post moves with her? maybe once Probably, yet she was the MVP of NKU postcamp this summer. My point is he doen't use the players strength like a good coach would. in closing all I can say is go Grant County beat Simon Kenton.

I haven't seen Bert Richey the Grant Co. coach in action thisyear but he does have a lot of Bobby knight in him. The bad thing is he has a couple of good players in Garnett and Amber Billiter whom he gives no credit.I know for a fact she is being recruited by some smaller colleges and he does nothing to help her or any of the other players. I don't think he really cares about his players just himself. Has anyone else dealt with this coach?

I think Dan Penick has to be on this team for them to have any chance. His rebounding could be all the difference in winning and losing. And he is the best rebounder in the state look it up. By the way Patrick Sparks left his heart in Western KY but that is for another topic. Go Dan!

Dan scores about 15 points and averages almost 14 rebounds which by the way leads the state. I really don't know what some people want out of this kid.As biqzig said he is a great passer and very unselfish. I get the feeling some guys just don't want to give him any credit.I believe he is still looking at going to Bowling Green which is a D-1 school no matter how you slice it.

I agree with EG when Dan gets a better team around him he will blossom into a very nice D-1 player.I compare him to Doellman at Xavier maybe not a star but a very good team player.Just because you are 6'9 and in high school doesn't mean you get every point and every rebound because there are other players out there.Some of you sound like you want Dan to average 30-20 every game.Did Jordan or Magic or Bird do this?no so just give the kid a break.Also he does hustle, Does Griffey look like he hustles all the time?no looks can be deceiving. And in my mind if you get a scholarship D-1 or not you are not a bust because you have made it, there are plenty of kids out there that won't get a scholarship for what ever reason.So Dan you just keep playing hard,and let the chips fall where they mayand that D-1 ticket will be there.
