  1. I would have to say the teams in the Eastern part of the state are pretty weak since not one team from the 14th, 15th, or 16th region are even ranked anywhere near the top twenty five in the state. Now that's not to say we don't have some great players here in the mountains because we have some very talented individuals, but overall there is some very stiff competition in the other parts of the state and I don't see the 14, 15, or 16 region teams winning a game in the state tournament unless two of them draw one another. But I've been wrong before so who knows.
  2. I think it would be a little hard for every team in a region to play each other, especially when you have so many tournaments that everyone likes ( and needs) to play in during the season. Besides tournaments most of our schools only play around 18-19 scheduled games if they had to play everyone in their region that would leave no time for playing other schools out of region. Those kids need exposure to other regions. I know its a big difference to our kids in the mountains when they go and play the Bluegrass teams and I think they need that in order to get better and be more competitive. Besides district tourneys are the cornerstone of local basketball rivalries and some of the best games ever are at the first level of tournament time!
  3. What player doesn't feed off of the cheers of his/her fans. Fans can make a difference in the game. ( NOBODY wants to walk into Duke and face the CAMERON CRAZIES. ) We all go to watch these kids for the excitement of the game and the thrill of the possible win, and you can't fault the players for showing a little emotion on the court.
  4. I like watching the 14th, don't get me wrong but in statewide competition has any 14th region team this year beaten (or played in close competition)any of the top 25 ranked teams in the state? I haven't heard of any major upsets as of now, that doesn't mean one can't happen but it just has happend yet.
