  1. I agree and I just don't get it. :confused::confused::confused:

You have to remember, Trinity is just an afterthought school that came around only after the world recognized another school to be "the" Catholic boys school for Louisville. It is only right for Trinity to be shoved back down the hole we came out of "a couple years ago". Kind of funny really.

  2. The privates and large schools arfe a lot like wal-mart, they are putting the little and average schools out of business.
The little schools play in their own class. The average teams (public and private) will NEVER win a title.

The end result will be eventually the rest of the publics will take their ball and go home.

Yep, the publics schools should close down their football programs.

  3. We have much much work to do on D if we are to have a chance for #18. We are still not playing good solid Trinity D and against good teams like HC and X we are in trouble. I hate this because the talent is on the field to be so much better.

    1) I see PRP's first score was set up by a 59 yard kick off return. They started on the Trinity 38. It's much easier to score when you are starting that close.

    2) On PRP's second score they picked up 3 3rd and long conversions. Ouch.

    3) PRP's third score was set up by Trinity's fumbled punt return at the Trinity 24!

When you take all that into consideration, Trinity's special teams set up 2 of PRP's scores. The D gave up one long drive early in the 2nd quarter. I can accept the D's perfomance, but the special teams...

  4. http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071013/SPORTS05/710130551

Fern Creek played without sophomore quarterback Bryan Hynes for the entire game and right tackle Ryan Benzick (6 feet 5, 325 pounds) for the first half ...

Things were so bad for the Tigers that Higgins made them do pushups on the sideline during a timeout with 9:20 left in the second quarter.

"If I could have run them around the football field, I would have done that," said Higgins, whose team will face Male next week to decide the 6-A, District Four title. "They had quit because we were down 28-7 and dropped their heads on the sideline. I refuse to let them do that."

  5. See St. Xavier's response at

    http://www.saintx.com/news/news.asp?ID=2717

Now that is a strong statement indeed. It essentially calls Clark County liars and the article a farce.

I hope Saint Xavier has all the facts in the case, because it's hard to maneuver away from "NO Saint Xavier High School coach has attended ANY middle school football game held in Southern Indiana".

  6. "We're certainly … not going to provide a haven for parochial schools in Kentucky or parochial schools in Indiana -- or any private schools -- to talk to our student-athletes."

    • I read this to say they allow public schools to "talk".

"The student said that a representative from a private school over in Louisville approached him after a game up at Highland Hills and made a comment: 'Hey, you played a good game,' and told him they would be in touch with him," Laughner said.

    • If true, it's illegal. If Saint Xavier made/makes "contact" from this, it's hammer time.

Valentine said the player couldn't recall the adult's name but said the adult identified himself as a St. X coach and was wearing St. X apparel.

    • Coaches from a bunch of schools cruise games in their clothing.

"I will certainly investigate," St. X athletic director Alan Donhoff said yesterday, adding that if he found violations, he "would deal with such involvement swiftly and harshly."

    • Interesting. I see the KHSAA getting involved in this report.

  7. Thursday night will be a first as far as I know; it will be a Varsity/Freshman doubleheader at St. X with the freshman game starting at 5:30 I believe. I think St. X wins them both with the St. X reserves getting some valuable playing time.

That's cool! Will the Butler players have a chance to shower at Saint Xavier so they can watch the varsity?

  8. If it is all about this year, great! This year is not over yet. Or did you forget the "Last Game"? You see, history is important.

I trust you had a great celebration with your umbrellas and brooms. Hang them up in the locker room to remember your great accomplishment (2nd sweep in 4 years). I trust Trinity will go back to work as usual with one goal in mind (6th Title in 7 years). Hope you can make it to the next party. It should be fun!

  9. I guess the only thing that this thread and the game itself proved is that a team with the World's Best linebacker tandem, the State's Best quarterback, a projected 2000-yard rusher, a Two-Time All-State tackle who plays both ways, two State Championshipship track athletes with glue hands at wide receiver, a strong veteran offensive line, and the proclaimed Nation's best high school head coach and staff is capable of shooting itself in the foot and losing to a team of no names. Miracles do happen...and that's why we still play the game. :D

Come December, I wouldn't trade one of ours for one of yours. Hopefully ours will still be playing.

  10. Who is on the Saint Xavier side of the bracket?

District-6-1- Apollo, Daviess County, Graves County, Henderson County, Madisonville-North Hopkins, Marshall County

    • Sorry. It's not going to happen...

District-6-2- Central Hardin, Greenwood, Meade County, Nelson County, North Hardin

    • Nope.

    • Saint Xavier has already taken down Manual. Plus they always seem to lose steam in the playoffs. Butler is way down, and PRP is not going to do either.

District-6-4- Bullitt Central, Fern Creek, Male, Southern

    • Souther or BC... nope. Male, no way.

Who is on Trinity's side of the bracket?

    • Ballard gave Saint Xavier all they wanted without their star RB...

District-6-6- Boone County, Campbell County, Conner, Ryle, Simon Kenton

    • Ryle played for the title last year.

District-6-7- Henry Clay, Lafayette, Paul Dunbar, Tates Creek

    • Henry Clay has the most talent in the state.

District-6-8- George Rogers Clark, Madison Central, Scott County, Shelby County

    • Shelby County has one of the best QB's in the state, but it would be a long shot.

  11. I feel the Rocks played tight the whole game. Kind of like they were pressing, or feeling internal pressure. It was similar to the way Saint Xavier played against Ballard. It was weird.

The Tigers played like they had been through it all before. No big deal, just another game. They gave Trinity zero breaks.

I see Trinity in the final but I’m not sure there will be a rematch.
