I agree First! Maddie Bartley was huge defensively and knocked down 2 big threes! Seygan Robins just did what great players do--THEY MAKE GREAT PLAYS!

Mercer will win this by 10 or more. I just don't think Elkins will be enough to contain all that Mercer has to offer. They look like a small college team out there. I would assume Boyle will run thier offense until they get the shot they want. In other words thier best defense could be thier offense. I still think Mercer will be too much. May be close early but as Mercer does in most games they wear you down! It should be a great HS atmosphere!

Predicitions for tonights game with Mercer traveling to Wayne County. Mercer is #1 in state and undefeated! Can Wayne knock them off or will Mercer continue to roll! Should be a good game and I would think an awesome atmosphere!

Mercer looked pretty good last night considering they have 2 of top 7 players out with an injury. They were up 22pts in 3rd qtr before Franklin made a late run. Seygan Robins continues to impress! Emmy Souder is also coming on for Mercer! Fun game to watch last night! The Stewart girl from Franklin is a very nice player as well.

He plays 9-10 players on a regular basis and dresses like 12 kids so who are you all talking about? Who is he suppose to put in? They only have one senior and the rest are primarily sophomores.

Lol! Mercer has beaten some teams by sizeable amounts but most of those they played everyone. Mercer's schedule is really tough and they are out sized by most teams. THey will be much better by the end of the season with the schedule they are playing. They may have played some starters in some 4th qtr games but most of those are sophomores. It is crazy how people will complain about scores in girls games but never do that with boys scores! Mercer has a really good team and YOUNG at that!

I don't have a problem with Joe Hall-I agree he is 80 or so and will butcher some names--I am not blaming him at all--why in the world would he be presenting the girls--I bet he did not attend one girls game all year! Why not bring back a former Miss Basketball to present? The concept of the entire night was awesome but it lasted 4 hours with a live auction right in the middle of it! Surely they could cut that down to about 2 hours! Girls basketball has come a long way--Greenwell-Duke, Boley--Notre Dame, Epps, Rogers-UK, Morris, Rich-UK, Hammond-UL--There are many others over the years--boys can't even come close to that! Money drives the bus though!

Of course it is well deserved but I bothers me that Joe B. Hall did not know her name! He kept calling her Marci! That tells me he has no clue about girls basketball! Donna Murphy presented an award, they should have let her present the girls since she was the 1st Miss Basketball! Just get the feeling that it is way about boys and they are just letting the girls tag along! Just saying! Also girls in the past 4 years have at least won the majority vs. Indiana while the boys are getting handled! Sorry to complain but when a girl gets the highest honor you can get you would think they organization presenting could at least get her name correct! Now I feel better!

I was at the game and you may want to get your facts straight! The kid ran in front of the Mercer fans with the flag! Yeah a water bottle was thrown but could not tell from who? Coach Shope did go across to talk to the kid but Boyle Principal is the one who threw the kid out! Also saw some Boyle adults giving him high five after he ran over to the Mercer student section. If it was at Boyle they would have done the same thing! Good game, good atmosphere! Like I said earlier Mercer may not be able to win the region but they will be a tough out for someone! I would not want to play them first round of the region! Also Mercer did not run on the Boyle side with the spirit pole or whatever that was they had! I was fine when the Boyle kid ran down his sideline but crossed the like when he went in front of Mercer students! That could have escalated and ruined what was a good high school basketball game! good luck to both teams down the stretch!

I didn't say he did not have talent! I said a "mess"! Talent does not mean anything unless you have good guidance! "Attitude reflects leadership!" Also Drew Davis has not played high school basketball since basically his 8th grade year and has been limited at best! I am just saying Mercer is a well coached dangerous team! I think Boyle is a dangerous team as well!

This is a big game tomorrow but not season changing either way for either team! Boyle is probably a favorite but Mercer can beat them! I know one thing Mercer may not be in the top 4 but I sure would not want to play them the first round of the region! They will be dangerous with nothing to lose! Regardless of schedule there is more hype or positive energy in their program than I have seen in years! Cook deserves shot at COY based on the mess he inherited! Should be a great high school atmosphere tomorrow night!

What about Mercer County freshman class of Seygan Robins around 15ppg already has offer from Central Florida and has attention of UK and UL. They also have a few other freshman like Emma Davis, Faith Lake, Lexy Lake and Emmy Souder all are Freshman and get significant playing time on a team that is 18-3 and in top 20! I wonder if there is a better freshman class on one team in the state? Bright future!

What about Seygan Robins from Mercer? She was the only freshman listed in the Lexington Herald top 25 players which is voted on by coaches!

I never said one time anything against the Bell kid, it was actually a Boyle County resident and fan that mentioned to me about him now living with a teammate! I am just going by what I heard and more than anything the inconsistent nature of KHSAA on how they rule on each one of these. I hope they all get eligible if it is in best interest of the kid--if it will help Bell, Carson, Dow and whomever else get a college scholarship then I am all for it! I also don't think Mercer people are upset or jealous or whatever because when have they really had a transfer of this magnitude anyway? I think Coach Cook will do a great job with or without transfers and I agree with BC23 that the 12th will be exciting either way! I would probably have more of an issue with the way SW gets transfers that Boyle or Mercer!

It is frustrating because if his mother feels it is in his best interest to come to Mercer and sign over legal guardianship to the Hagers' then it should be a no-brainer! How did the kid from PC get eligible at SW? How is it that the kid from Butler transferred to Boyle and apparently his dad has already moved back to Louisville and he is living with a teammate? How is Ronnie Carson getting eligible at Scott County? (maybe he isn't, but heard he was) Way too inconsistent on these rulings! Let him play!

What about all the young girls Mercer County has? Seygan Robins will be a freshman and I think she scored about 80 plus points in the 12th Regional Tournament. They also played several other 8th and 9th graders in big games!

Anyone have any info on when they will hire the next boys coach at Mercer? Who are the finalists, or have they gotten that far?

The scrimmage on June 8th at Mercer will be at 6:00pm. There will be 15 juniors scrimmaging on the 7th at Eastern and I think 15 more juniors on the 8th at Mercer.

:confused:Jesse, I will make sure adn tell him not to double your daughter even though I doubt he will listen!! I am not sure if they can be a top five team or not. 1. Lincoln Co. 2. Casey, 3. Wayne, 4. Southwestern 5. Somerset 6. Monticello It is my understanding also that they have no seniors. Where do they fit in and also East has a transfer from LCA that makes them a contender--So Mercer will have their work cut out for them just to win the district. :confused:

When a player decides to quit for whatever reason I think the coach should give the player a couple of days to truly decide. Kids make mistakes and make rash decisions. Parents should encourage the kids to stick it out regardless of how bad it gets at least for that season. It really needs to be between the player and the coach and not everyone else. It should not matter how much of an impact player they are--if they are an impact player and they want to quit then they would probably cost your team in the long run. I have actually had parents tell me they were mad at the coach for letting their daughter quit??? That is crazy!! Kids have too many options these days and basketball requires work and if it gets too hard it is too easy to walk away!!:walk:
