I agree. Aaron had a very good game tonight.

I have a daughter who is a Belfry cheerleader. They meant no disrespect to the Russell team when they lined up the tunnel. It just happens that both teams come out from the same side of the field. As far as what was said to the group of cheerleaders by the Russell boys, I can't repeat it on here for the word filters nor would I for that matter, but it wasn't very gentlemenly or classy at all. One of the Russell coaches stepped in and asked them nicely to move the tunnel over which is when it was moved.

Aaron Chapman is #30. This was his senior year. He is great kid, as well as an athlete. I hope that the Russell kid, #16 I believe, is alright. I read that they think his arm is broken. I hate to hear that.

First off, I would like to congratulate the Russell team on a well played game. Go to Louisville and win it all!!!! Second, to the Belfry Pirates...you have made all Belfry fans proud to be Pirates. You never gave up and took us all the way to the semi-finals when this was supposed to be a down year. You are an awesome group of kids who represented the community with class every where you go. We love each and every one of you. Thanks for another great ride. Third, tonight was 2 ballgames in one. The first half was all Russell, the second all Belfry. It just was a little too late for my Pirates. Good Luck Russell.

I haven't been able to be on the computer the past couple of days due to traveling, but I am soooo ready for gametime. I absolutely got chills to read that the Pirates practiced at Vipperman this week. I can just imagine how emotional that was for the players and coaches. This is going to be a night of great football. I know that this team has come along way since the Pike County Bowl. They have proved everyone wrong who didn't think that Belfry had what it took to replace the players that graduated. I am so proud of the boys on this team. Let's go BELFRY!!!!!

No joking allowed in this thread I see. I will be above the "classless" statement and just say...everyone needs to lighten up a little.

This isn't about the arrogance of anyone, especially fans. It's about two high school football teams trying their best to keep playing football after Friday. Can we agree to leave it at that?

Me and you both. :thumb: I think the only factor that matter to either one of these teams is a trip to Louisville, Dec. 3rd.

Let not go as far as leaving Russell fans out of the trophy engraving. Both sides have fans who have already named the winner and there is no two ways about it. That is what most fans do. They tend to add all the good things about the team together and refuse to believe that there are any weaknesses on their team. I am just glad that the actual players have their eyes open wider than the fans. As fas as the turnovers, it was a factor but not the reason Belfry won. Did Belfry's player hitting the Russell boys not cause the turnovers? As far as that goes...Russell could have stopped Belfry from scoring on those 2 fumbles but failed to do so. So, in reality, Belfry earned those points, it wasn't given to them. Unless your saying that Russell didn't play any defense during those TD's. But, as we all know, that was last year and has absolutely NOTHING to do with this coming Friday. There are 2 new groups of young men on this year's team and this is their year. Let's not try to deminish their accomplishments by rehashing the past. This thread has been going very well and I for one would like to see it stay open until the game on Friday.

I would love to know how you "KNOW" that as a fact. I have personally talked to the players and afraid of Leslie they were not! Saying that Belfry was afraid to play Leslie is like saying that Leslie lost to Sheldon Clark on purpose because Leslie was afraid to play the Pirates... :sssh: Besides, Leslie County wasn't even brought up in this thread by a Belfry fan.

I just hope it ends exactly the same way it did last year. :banana:

I can honestly say that I was quite worried at the end of last year about replacing or at least trying to replace the triple threat that we had in the backfield. I have to give credit to Maynard/Chapman/May for stepping up and stepping up big this year. It would have been easy for them to not be patient and go to another school to play, but their patience and hardwork has paid off tremendously for not only them but the entire Belfry team. Just as I'm sure that your backs have waited their turn and now want to try and reap the rewards from it. This game will be full of hungry young men wanting the gold. I'm just glad to be able to be a very tiny part of it as a fan.

The coach had nothing to do with the episode that is being talked about on here. It wasn't the players at all. Coach Haywood DEMANDS class from his players. This was a very few fans from both schools during warm-ups and tunnel time making bad decisions and show poor judgement as kids often do.

UMM, yeah..ok.. I was talking about last year when I said I had only heard of Gross. I have heard of Clark and I was just wondering.... .aww never mind. :irked:

That is a fair assessment. Matt is getting his fair share of the media attention this year..and it is deserving by all means. Although Chapman was the leading rusher one game ago and still may be, he isn't getting the write ups like Matt is. It may have something to do with Matt being a Sr., while Chapman and May are a junior and soph, respectively.

Thanks for the info. I knew that Gross touched the ball more than anyone else at Vipperman Stadium and that is probably the reason I hadn't heard or remembered anything about Clark. It's funny what one year will do for a kids talent level.

I noticed you left off my #1 from the previous post.. :sssh: :lol: Anyway..I think that this will be a very good game and one for the books. It doesn't get any better than 2 great teams with 2 great coaches. Oh yeah, it does, 2 State Championships (hopefully 3)! I'll make my prediction later in the week.
