Who is it that you think I think is conspiring? All I think is that someone is doing a fantastic job getting a great player publicity and keeping his name on everyone's lips and admiring the strategy. Oh, God! Is there anyone out there who understands that I'm not trying to do any bashing (of the media or Johnson)?

I thought the voting ended on the 25th. Wasn't the regular season over at the end of October? I've been hearing and seeing the rumors for a few weeks.

Who said anything about a conspiracy theory???? And where did I say the voters do or don't see the players. Where did I say the boy didn't deserve this award? And for god sakes, where on earth did you get that I said he has received favored treatment?? You are inserting a lot of assumption and error into your rebuttal. (Next time you argue with me, try arguing about what I actually said.) Yes, I think there is some marketing behind part of this. It is your right to consider what I've said inane and mine to consider your comprehension of what I said inadequate. NOW, let me say this one more time........I am not claiming he is not deserving of the award. I knew somebody would just have to turn this into something that it wasn't, which is why I don't usually post.

I'm not sure if you are referring to my post...... I didn't imply that the media had a motive or that anyone consults with the media but that someone possibly used the media for good marketing and publicity just in time for voting......in other words, a smart strategy by someone on Johnson's side just in case choosing an instate school could help.

Gamer said he thought Burke should win. I don't know who should have won....they are both deserving. What I think is that there are some people behind Johnson that have played this very smart in order to get a lot of publicity.

That's exactly what I was trying to point out.....he didn't commit although reports were appearing everywhere that he did. So if anyone says that he's backing out, it wouldn't be so because HE didn't commit. I am saying that it sort of looks like there's some media savvy folks behind some of this.

I read an article this morning that said Johnson did not commit to UK and that he was going to make an announcement today or Monday. I wonder if the rumors of the past few days about his commitment to UK had any impact on the Mr. Football voting. I'm also wondering if someone isn't playing a good publicity game. What seems odd to me is: 1. Johnson wasn't supposed to announce his choice until the Army All-American Bowl. 2. Immediately after Burke's team wins the semi-final, the commitment rumors start and a news station jumps the gun. 3. The Lexington-Herald runs an article saying that his mother said he would be at UK. 4. NOT one word from Micah Johnson during all this. Plenty from mom and the coach... 5. The Mr. Football announcement was released by AP wire Thursday morning. 6. Following the AP release, there is a story the he has not committed and will make some sort of announcement at 3:00 today or Monday. I have to wonder if all this was in hopes of bettering his chances against Burke in the Mr. Football race by committing to a state school. Now that he's won, he can say that HE didn't make the announcement, etc. I think the AP voters probably just got played or else they just want to make sure he's in the news alot. And before anyone gets mad.....I am NOT trying to say that he is not deserving of the Mr. Football award!

I heard that both Bell's freshmen and JV were undefeated, but I don't think that means much down the road. I've seen plenty of great middle school, freshmen, and JV teams fizzle out. Varsity is a different reality.

That's right, but if you get caught in all the traffic lights in Corbin, it will really slow you down. If you get caught in those AND the lights in Barbourville and Pineville, it can take longer than it should. I'd plan on 45 mins. anyway. I figure traffic will be bad. Just trying to make sure you get there in time. The parking situation gets ugly and people park on the side of the highway.

Bellalumni40 is right. It's a left turn after you exit at Corbin. The school is on the left side of the highway. Should take about an hour after you exit to get there depending on traffic. Maybe MapQuest gave you directions for Bell Central (it's on the right).
