When does the BGP All Star Team come out?

Featured Replies

If I remember correctly, it is the 10th.

We are working hard on this project!

When will the BGP All Star team come out? Have I just overlooked it?

I am sure the BGP staff are working hard on this project! They always turn out great stuff, so I'm sure it will worth the wait.

We have been fighting pretty hard over the last two or three spots on the team. We are just about there and the team will be released any day now.

Hope some deserving young men from smaller schools are considered, unlike the AP team. Also that there are other areas of the state with good football besides NKY and Louisville.

As it stands right now 9 of the 36 players on the All BGP team are from 1A or 2A schools.

If you are expecting alot of players from one team, you will probably be disappointed. KY is a big state, and basically there will only be 36 players on the list. 12 offense, 12 defense, and 12 ironmen. In your head, try and comeup with the top 10 at whatever position you have in mind for your class. then do the same for that position for the other 3 classes. Now, pick one or two. 38 very deserving players, are not on the list, so to say that one area is favored over another is incorrect IMO. The BGP list is the pinacle of KY lists. Why? Because there is more debate and knowledge about what goes on in this state, as far as football is concerned, here than there is anywhere else. BGP try's hard to represent ALL parts of the state. It is not in our nature to slight anyone. When questions come up on players and teams, every effort is made to get the most information humanly possible about each. There is no hidden agenda, other than to promote KY high school athletes and athletics. I'm not sure who you root for, or what players you are pulling for but if the player you are looking for is not on the list when it comes out. I can assure you it is not because they were not considered. Alot of people work very hard to try and make this list the best it can be and none of them do it for the wrong reasons. Just my opinion.

Glad to hear it! Yes Ky. is a big state and no I don't expect to see several from the same school, but would enjoy seeing some of the smaller schools represented as well. I think sometimes all state teams (at least in other states I have coached in) are selected by how a young man may project to play beyond High School into college, and not based on his H.S. performance. I know one year in another state we had a kid in our conference (class 2A) who rushed for over 2,000 yards (led the state) and scored 27 td's on a team that made it to the semi finals, and he was not even honorable mention. Why?... 5'5" tall...150 lbs. No colleges interested...no sportswriters voting. It was a shame this young man had the year he did but didn't get any statewide recognition.

Sandman, I'm sure the folks who work on this do a very good job, as this is my first experience with the BGP team, I look forward to seeing it. I'm not looking necessarily for any particular individuals, just have seen a few very good players throughout the state this year and they weren't all 4a or 3a or in major metropolitan areas, and even though some will go on to nice college careers at some level, many will not and this will be the highlight of their athletic life. Having said all that, I look forward to seeing the results!

I've got two just like him and they didn't make the list either, he's in good company.
