  1. I was very young but the 1973 Louisville Shawnee team. Wayne Golden,Ronnie Danieils, and others. I believe they had 4 or 5 D-1 players on that team. They played in the Russell Invitational tournament. Beat Davey Wooten and Phil Phratt by 10 I believe. Wurtland also gave them a pretty good game I also think they lost by 10. Mike Gillum, Tim Justice, Mike Sutton,(Nate's dad) Like I said I was very young but I know they won the stae that year also. Does anybody remember that team??
  2. I agree. Like I stated in another forum, Sutton is one of the up and coming young coaches that IMO is gona make someone a great head coach. Nothing against Smith, I just feel if he gets the job that someone will scarf up Coach Sutton. Greenup cant afford to take that chance. He is well beyond his years in knowledge of the game. You can tell by the adjustments made during games. Greenup's had teams If adjustments would have been made in the past could have went allot farther in the post season. Dont let him get away!!! 1.---------- 2.Russell- was beat by the #3 team Region cant be #1 2.Rose Hill- Must beat some top teams in the region to move to #1 3.Boyd County-Beat the #1 team at the time 4.Ashland-Looking better toughness of schedule will help them.
  3. You have to give that to Ashland. They always get a top coach. They have had some real good ones over the years. Its an attractive job for a high school coach. Allot of tradition there.
  4. Greenup County----Randy Ward If you liked that syle or not he was successfull at what he did. Allot of coaches resemble his style in the 16th now.
  5. I agree, they were some good adjustments made at halftime. Sutton did a good job reconizing that the pace needed to be picked up and not fall into their game. The press got the tempo up which was better for Greenup. Nice Call. I hope the adminstration is paying attention. I would hate to see one of the best young and up coming coaches get away. A certain person needs to get out of the stands away from the parents and let the players (especially the seniors) enjoy the rest of the year and quit keeping things stirred up. One would have to be a fool to not see what is going on. This year will be over before you know it. The priorty here should be the kids and them having a possitive experience. From what I can see this is up to the parents at this point. Remember only the CAPTIAN has to go down with a sinking ship.
  6. I just about hit this one. Matt Thomas had a good night. I believe 26 points.
  7. Greenup by 8!!!! They have lost a couple lately but Sutton and Smith got them playing pretty well. I hope they dont go through this all again when coach Hick's tries to come back. Good luck Muskies. :jump:
  8. He may be a year away from "vanilla thunder" we'll see.
  9. Good Job Alex. Im sure your dad is real proud.
  10. Rex may have showed his cards a little early in this one. This was basically a junk type defense. This will allow Rose Hill to be prepared come tournament time. I may have played it more straight up and suprised them in march. The good news for Rose Hill is they didnt play very well and still won. Last year if they didnt play well they got beat by Augusta. This shows they are making big strides. Give fairview credit the had alot to do with them not playing very well. Good game plan by fairview's staff. I think Rex would like to give everyone credit not just him. That is a pretty impressive coaching staff. Not just Rex but Jerry Davis was a head coach in ohio for 25 or 30 years. Jeff Hall is very good and throw in Joe Barker and Dereck Cooksey and Jason Strader they are alot of knowledge there. Rose Hill's staff did a good job. Remember Rose Hill is very very young dont get your expectations to high to early that can cause alot of pressure for a young team. Enjoy the success of every win while the team is going through this transition of becoming a great team.
  11. I believe his brother Darrell already has that one. I love Tall Cotton reminds me of Big Country for some reason. I think vanilla thunder is good and the Blonde Bomber is great. :thumb: :thumb:
  12. Dakotah Euton's running mate Chad Jackson has been tagged with "smooth" as his nick name. I thought this would be a good time for the bluegrass prepsters to get involved in a nickname contest that could be tagged on Dakotah the rest of his career. I thought we may get some good ideals on the reply's and then run a poll and vote. If this work's out mabe we can do it for other player's in our state. We could become the official nickname website for the KHSAA boys and girls basketball. THE BLONDE WEASEL :D
  13. I dont know if I agree it is hard to beat a team three times, you are correct on the other statements made. too many horses. Russell by 20+
  14. Greenup County Zach Gillum Mike Scott Steve Scaggs Mark Quillen Boo Williams
  15. Fairview's guards are small. I think they will have trouble with RH's traps. I think it will be a District type atmosphere. This is the type games RH needs to win to get were they want to be. Fairview will try to keep the score down. RH will try to force tempo, should be an interesting game. fairview will be paying alot of attention to Euton and Jackson, look for Fuller to have alot of open looks. RH 60 Fairview 50
  16. Im proud of the team this whole situation will make them stronger. If they can keep focused then the sky is the limit. They played Russell, (who proved they can play with the showing against Mason Co.) to 2 points on their home floor.
  17. Hick's is very good at player development and skill. I think he has listened to the people around him and got some bad advice on some decisions and it has made the wrong people mad at him. When people start looking for things, well you know, they are not many coaches that would want somebody looking at them under a microscope.
  18. # 3 would be Middleton. He has made great strides this season. He can stroke the three. He also is fairly athletic and jumps well. Gona be a good one.
  19. The Dark haired coach is Sutton. The light haired Coach is Smith. They are taking turns, every other game. They work good togather. As far as their skill, Hicks practices are very intence on teaching skill.
  20. Wolfenbarker is a hard nosed kid who know the game. You are right he is the key to this team being successful. I know that Sutton and Wolfenbarker are close, as well as Wolfenbarker and Hicks, this has to be hard for him. It just seems like the greenup kids always have contraversy around them. Hopefully this will change and they can enjoy the rest of the season.
  21. I think Hick's is using poor judgement being around the parents. This is just keeping things stirred up. He does have some support there but he also has fans that wished he wasnt there. The best thing for the team is for him to disappear until the suspension is over. If he doesnt come back, this is just gona be another distraction for the team. Theyve had enough distractions without having to look up in the stands to see who's mom or dad he is sitting by. I dont think they are many coaches out there that would hang around the team while they were suspended. This is also a distraction to the current coaching staff. Sometimes you just have to put the team first. Its like he is saying look at me Im still here.
