Nick Partin (2000) Thomas More College
Terry Runion (2004) Thomas More College
David Schoo (2005) Mt. St Joe
Matt Atkins (2006) Kentucky Weslyan
Daniel Runion (2006) Kentucky Weslyan
There are more but those are the ones i recall right off the top of my head.
I can't believe that you forgot Nick Rice. He was an All-American at Thomas More 3 years in a row and at two different positions. He's the best to go through Newport since Adam Brown in my opinion.

You are to funny. It would be a suprise if Dixie didnt KILL NCC. Anytime a 4A school plays a 1A school it shouldnt even be close. You guys crack me up. Go ahead and get exited about playing NCC. If you dont kill them you should be embarassed. Game of the year. To funny. Dixie is good, dont get me wrong but they should be playing other 4A schools to get ready for the season like Highlands is playing Male. Now that is a scrimmage game. Last week you played Connor 3A which is down and this week tiny New Cath. Dont mean to rain on your parade. Go ahead get excited. Go get em Dixie, beat that 1A school. Next year schedule some Ohio big schools or some large schools in Louisville. Give Bishop Brossart a call I heard they needed a scrimmage and maybe Latin School might start a football program. Dont get me wrong, I like Dixie and I know they are going to be good, but come on, do a better job of scheduling scrimmages.
Wow!!! Pretty credible post.

I think most rational parents would agree with you!!
Well, look at it this way...things can only go up from here.
-
A parent as in one!! This one parent has a track record!!! Pretty sad!!!
I don't mean this to be taken offensively, but what could that parent possibly know about his/her child's football ability after two weeks of practice. This isn't NKYFL or the JR. High league. This is high school football, all old achievements mean nothing.
-
Reading the posts and not the thread title...I thought this was a NCC/Dixie scrimmage thread...
Nah, we don't bring up that scrimmage until the polls come out around week 5.
-
Me and my boyz are going, wouldn't miss it. Should be a fun one. I'll let you know.
I heard tickets are on going for $5.50 on EBay. Get'em while they're hot.

Good for Coach C...I think he still has the itch for coaching and this was probably an isolated incident. Don't be so sure he is done with coaching.
He does a great job on NKY Legends....keep it up Coach. :thumb:
This job would have been great, seeing as it is a new program located right by his house.Seriously, this would have been a great job for Coleman to take. I think that if this situation didn't work out, I don't see him coaching again. As a side note, Brossart is having problem with parents already??? They just started practicing.

I think he it won't take too long before he is a big time winner there. I wish him the best of luck. He is a great coach.
Not with the amount of athletes in Gwinnett Co. That's prime pickings right there. The spread will work wonders.
-
HHmmmm? Lex Cath, Trinity, Highlands (of old), Boyle, Bardstown, Male, Owensboro Cath, Pburg I think I've listed enough teams that have been on the carpet as of late! Even teams like St X + Beechwood have opened it up a little at times to spread it out and open up their running games.
Add NewCath to that list.
-
I think Belfry's crowd will be a factor in this game. No way NCC can have any idea of what the crowd will be like at this game - WILD. I'm going with Belfry.
Yeah...NewCath never plays in highly anticipated and heavily attended games. Breaking new ground here.

Let's not get confused here. Coach Schneider is on the Board of Control (BOC) which voted to approve the 6 class proposal that was recommended by the Kentucky Football Coaches Association (KFCA).
I am not sure if Coach Schneider was present at the vote or not but one thing is for sure, he (nor anyone else) voted for no change because the BOC vote was 14-0 to go to 6 classes.
I'm completely ignorant here (and at what makes women tick, but that's another thread). How many representatives are there? Are there one for each region? If that is the case, and only 14 out of 16 reps voted on a very crucial issue and my rep A)didn't attend or B)didn't vote, I'd be very upset. This is going to have huge implications on the state for years to come.

If those two move up, 2A is gonna be loaded!
Already is...but there's always a room for a little more amo.

Is it for sure that it's Harris this year? If so, he finally gets to shoot off his cannon. Kids got an arm. Will he be able to pick up the nuances after basically one year off? I hope that his injuries don't bug him this season.

Doesn't hurt to have a nice reciever on both sides of the QB to keep the Defense guessing but the Jumpers are still lacking another go to reciever "right now!" Key Words..."Right Now"
Point taken. I just remember watching the game last year. The QB is a warrior. All they need to find is a kid that can run routes with soft hands. With Somerset's tradition, they'll find someone. I still see the 'Breds as number one right now, but it's wide open. This may be the most competitive final four of 1A that we've seen in awhile. Mayfield will be there. Danville will be very, very tough to beat. NewCath has a slight advantage over NewCath, and Somerset must beat Pikeville. However, I don't see any blowouts in the "elite" 8 this year.
-
 He's Back
If that's the case, Somerset has as good a chance as anyone to get to Louisville. I felt that they were the best team that NewCath played in the playoffs last year.

I don't think that any of us are forgetting about it. I just think that some of us (with an unbiased viewpoint) have seen Belfry play before--and know that they have a few kids coming back as well.
NCC may very well win this game--but in my humble opinion--this is a very dangerous game for NCC if Belfry has any success running the ball at all. (Ball control could hurt NCC's momentum with a new QB. Especially considering the fact that this will be the first game for a new NCC qb (and I am aware that all available NCC qb's do have more than just a little football skill). The offense line will help NCC--but Belfry is going to play solid, fundamental ball control football.
Belfry has the potential to rough NCC up a little bit. From past dealings--they are a pretty physical team--playing pretty close to home.
I just don't see this as the definite domination that my little brother mak sees . . . . . .
Regardless--I think it will be a great game to start out the year. And it is a definite step up in scheduling for NCC.
From recent NewCath history, they have been stout against the run under Coach Wagner. CovCath, Ryle, nor Beechwood gained much against them last year. However, pass defense in the flats and curl zones has been an achilles heel. They cured that at the end of last season. Belfry would be wise to use play action. NewCath tends to have a lot of pride in it's team speed on defense, and too often overcommits. However, if Harris or Diehl can do 80% of what Sammy did last year, it will be tough for Belfry to defend. It's gonna be a great game. I don't know enough about Belfry to pick a winner.
-
For the rest of you just reading, this is no surprise. CCH is loaded with some great skill players this year (and most years for that matter).
If Coach R can get his offense rolling the future looks extremely bright at CovCath.
He had them rolling last year and then they peaked too early. Funny thing about the spread offense. When you're on your game, and the timing clicks, it's undefendable. If your timing is off a little bit, you're 3 and out without taking any time off of the clock for most of the game. It's very difficult to get that timing back once you lose it. That's what appears to have happened to them last year, whether that had to do with defensive schemes catching up, I don't know.

To go along with the actual thread though.......I think Ncc has the advantage to win it all over Danville, strictly from a preseason standpoint. However, it seems that Danville lost close to nothing after graduation and that sounds pretty scary. IF Mayfield and Danville continue to do what they do best (play football), the Cards might have more than they can handle. BUT lets wait and see how the season goes..............
NewCath lost their top 2 receivers and QB. Danville returns everybody. If Harris or Diehl, whoever it is, can get be about 85% efficient as Diehl last year, NewCath may get past Beechwood. If not, Bankemper and company will be facing Danville...again.

Awesome story, I pray that they reach the "Golden Date". October 2007 right???

NewCath sent Ed Ziegler to Notre Dame after claiming a 2nd place finish in the GCL during the '65 season, if I remember correctly. I would say that that qualifies him as top 10 in NKY all-time.
-
He was the fourth best d line man on ncc's team last year
He wasn't. Sour grapes or something going on there. Only Justin Smith was better. Just be proud of the attention this will bring NewCath football.

Rice was/is a beast and a great person. He really could flip that switch once he hit the field.
