  1. I'll need more evidence.

I think what he is trying to say is that the 'Breds were finally able to work out the kinks that sometimes need to be worked out against inferior competition. They were able to make their passing game more respectable and they have gotten some bodies healthy. They are better now than they were three weeks ago, like most good teams are. Holy Cross may very well be, as well. I just don't see NewCath turning the ball over 6 times and having an 86 yard td run called back. All that and Holy Cross still only beat them by three.

  2. 60 Minutes used to be an important show, but has gone downhill in recent years.

It has hit rock bottom when a college coach using bathroom language is the main story...

Get over it, what collge coach doesn't curse, in any sport? The greatest man that I know, besides my dad, was my college coach. Even he let a few GD's out.

  3. Just got back from the 1st half, as I have to get ready for work. HC didn't show anything until that last drive, Beechwood will fix that in the 2nd half. I don't see how they will beat NCC next week, we are talking NCC here and after a tough game Vs Beechwood. Beechwood had one blocked punt which gave them the ball at about the 5, and almost had another. Nice run 60 yard run by Elliot for a TD as well. Very small Beechwood crowd as well ?

They didn't travel well to Newport Stadium either. Has that been the norm this season???

  4. What's the big deal??? He didn't call out any individual, just stated made an imaginative analogy. I hope UK beats LSU, but his comments don't make me want it anymore. I enjoy when a person can be himself in front of the media. I don't like the TO's of the world, but who's Big Baby hurting with his words? If you look back at UK's season last year, he's pretty spot on.

  5. You can say that this is the 1st big game for HC but what about the defeat against NCC. Everyone so set that HC loses the game in 2nd half. Just wondering if anyone has actually been to HC games and has seen that HC comes out stronger in the 2nd half!!!!!!!!!

Coaching staff at HC may not have the rep that Beechwood has but they have great/strong coaching staff and everyone will see tonight!!!!!!

    HC wins by 7

    GO INDIANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:p

The NewCath game was a big win, but not a big game. This is HC's first game for a championship. If HC comes out flat in the first half against Beechwood, it will not matter if they are a strong second half team, b/c they'll be down by at least 2 tds against the best team that they'll face all year. Beechwood doesn't lose games in the second half. They win an awful lot of them with their adjustments.

  6. This is Holy Cross's first big game in its program's history. Beechwood has been there done that. In addition, I believe that Beechwood has much better coaching and just as much individual talent. The Indians have had a nice season, but Beechwood will make the adjustments that they always make at the half. I stick to my original prediction.

  7. With the new rule changes, you will see a lot of kids from the surrounding Catholic schools entering Highlands as 7th graders next year, should be interesting from an athletic point of view to see who you may have thought would continue on to NCC/Brossart, etc....may be some surprises...

Kids have been doing that for years. I played Jr. High for NewCath with two kids that wound up going to Highlands for high school. It's better for those kids to get into Highlands earlier so they can get acclimated with everything instead of waiting for high school.

  8. Any future chance that NCC will have their own home field? Any land down on Route 8 available??? I know they moved their home baseball field down there and it is very nice.

There is a huge project in the planning stages, but nothing finalized as far as I know. The plans sound good, major face lift for the hill.

  9. I could be wrong also but I think the only game Bankemper did not have a 100 yds was last week against Bellevue and he had 80. Pete Kayiatos has as much break away speed as anyone in NKY, the WR.

With that last statement, we finally agree. Kid's got some wheels.

  10. Last time I checked, a QB was suppose to loft a fade pass! If shutting Bankemper down is holding him to under 150 yds but allowing him to gain over 100, I will take that.

You are right, Beechwood has no break away speed except at the wideout position. Elliot has speed but does not get to use it often in this offense.

I am as objective as they come. BHS is good at the skilled positions and weak on the line this yr. However, the line is getting better just in time for the playoffs.

Danville has to get past a very good Bardstown team and then Mayfield. I remember last yr everybody talking about Danville and look what happened. No team is a lock as the BHS faithful know to well.

I don't believe that Tommy had over a 100 yards, but I may be wrong. The QB had a good game against NewCath, but his passes to have air under them, and I'm not talking about the game winning pass to the WR, who does have break away speed. Beechwood is the best 1A team in the east, but this is not a good Beechwood team by Beechwood standards. Maybe they'll gel and turn into a really good team. I just don't see them being there yet.

  11. I must say I get a kick out of all the posts on here talking about how "down" Beechwood is this year. Not being a fan of theirs by any stretch, but to say they are down is amusing to me. They beat teams by playing solid fundamental football and keeping turnovers to a minimum. They are obviously very well coached and make the necessary adjustments to win games. And I also think they will make the trip to Louisville again this year.

I believe that they will make the trip again as well, but I think it's due to the fact that the East is weak. NewCath is bad this year, they make way too many mental mistakes, Holy Cross is going to be exposed, and the rest of the district is fighting for one spot. I have watched Beechwood for the past 15 years as well as NewCath. I have seen great Beechwood teams that you knew were going to make it to the carpet, and good NewCath teams that you had a good feeling about. I don't see that this year. Beechwood does not have the offense this year that they've had in years past. Tommy is a very hard runner and great back, but they need a change of pace back that can break the long one, ala Scotty Coyle or Brett Brockoeft. This is Danville's title to lose at this point. As to the original point, I feel that Beechwood is no. 5 behind Highlands, CovCath, Boone, and Ryle. There's no shame in that.

  12. I have found out very quickly that some posters just like to argue about anything and everything. As I do agree, that scrimmages and past games do not mean anything having beat a team does have a mental advantage.

As for BHS QB throwing floaters, you need to quit doing that nose candy so you have clear sight of what you are watching. He throws a bullet and has picked every team apart. As for stopping Bankemper, wouldn't happen. No team has done it yet even CCH.

Wow!!! Anyway, if you consider those passes bullets, you haven't seen a bullet. NewCath shut down Bankemper. Beechwood's coaches were smart, went to the spread and that's how they beat NewCath. NewCath's DB's could not cover Beechwood's receivers. The balls that the QB threw had a lot of air under them. Against a team with a decent secondary, ala Boone and Ryle, those balls are picked off. Good to see that you can be objective though:thumb:

  13. He will play DE at Louisville.

Is he explosive enough to play end at that level? He'll be plenty big enough, but will he be able to beat OT's off the line on his pass rush. I work with a guy who's little brother played at St. X Cincinnati last year and is at Boston College this year. They both had the same frame 6'6-6'7 240 lbs, but Alex ran something around a 4.6, which is exceptional for a DE. On top of that his vert, the best marker for explosiveness, was in the high 30"s. That's where I see DE's heading in college, everyone looking for the next Julius Peppers. I think that Zack will fill out into a good Offensive Tackle, or a good DT. I don't see him playing DE, but I may be wrong.

  14. If Ryle is better than Beechwood then how did Ryle lose to Boone who Beechwood beat in a scrimmage? I know, it was a scrimmage and Corey got a little banged up in the beginning of the scrimmage but I watched the BoCo/Ryle game on TV and I think Beechwood would beat both 4A schools.

    1)Highlands

    2)CCH

    3)Beechwood

    4)BoCo

    5)Ryle

    6)Dixie

    7)CampCo

    8)SK

    9)HC

    10)NCC

Beechwood is not that good. They would not beat Ryle, nor Boone. Those schools could take away Bankemper, and Beechwood's QB honestly, isn't super. I watched the NewCath game and didn't come away impressed with either team. The QB's ball floats and against a team like Boone and Ryle, that means int. The scrimmage argument holds no water, and that's coming from a NewCath fan.

  15. 270 soaking wet with a Bike helmet ('80's style), and all those big neck rolls those boys at NCC wear. I think he'll be one heck of a player once it's all said and done. Has a huge frame, I'm sure they'll have him at the dinner table a bunch while at UL.

Easy on the neckrolls. Very few of us ever wanted to wear all of that padding, that came from Mr. Potter being over conscious about players health. It's gotten better, but let me emphasize, we HAD to wear them.
