  1. Feb. 12, 2006- North College Hill's Bill Walker puts up 50 and 25 against Holmes. Was in attendance for this game and it was quite a show.
  2. haha yea....covcath definetly comes up with some of the most original chants...still like the Holmes chant from last year against Holy Cross of "WHo is Bibbins" ...he finished the game with 5 points i think and fouled out
  3. Who all does Conner return? I know they return the three good underclassmen pitchers right? Harkins, Wigger, and ??? (name escapes me right now)
  4. Agreed Boone can beat anyone with Dietz on the mound, but without him they're a very average team. Holmes has beaten them the past two seasons. Boone can surprise some teams though with Dietz...only question is will their offense be good enough to give him some support.
  5. Also as far as Humphrey and Bleser are concerned, ill take Bleser as the best in nky. Won the regional championship out-battling curley who is probably one of the top 5 pitchers in the state and also contributed at the plate. 9-1 sounds nice, but who were the 9 wins against? Bleser has more impressive wins imo. Both are good, but Bleser is better.
  6. Not gonna be the best jr's, but one that everyone will hear about from Holmes this year is Jon Smith. I believe he hit around .380 last year as a soph.
  7. Every team's fans say this..definetly overrated...but as you said it does get to everyone so why stop saying it? :thumb: :thumb:
  8. How is/was/will Holmes be overrated? You have to be kidding me. They return everyone next year. Think about all of the adversity they had to overcome this year...any team who has to deal with all that is going to lose a couple games on the way. Next year they will have senior leadership, something they lacked this year. That early end to their season really hit these boys hard. You will see a completely different team next year. You definetly have to include them as one of the top teams next year. The sophomores who will be juniors next year won the AAU state championship this past summer. This team included Braeon Avery, Terrence Clark, Arrez Henderson, and Josh NElson, all of whom started...throw in Austin Hill and Duran Jefferson and you have a dangerous team...but keep doubting them. :thumb: :thumb:
  9. I still dont see why Holmes doesnt get turf...with all the alumni between them and HC, im sure they could find the money somewhere
  10. Ryle will be just as good as last year and they beat boone last year. IMO It will be Boone and Ryle fighting it out for the 1-2 with Dixie, Holmes, and Sk battling for the 3-4. As far as Holmes goes, they are really gonna be turning the corner next year and getting over that hump. They return too much not to make noise in nky. Holmes returns 9 on offense including their whole o-line and 8 on defense including the whole d line and secondary. 17 out of 22 starters returning is going to win you a couple more ball games. Coach Trosper and his staff are really doing some nice things down there. Heard they had a starting o lineman squat 605 when they maxed out the other day.
  11. Duran was in his first year at qb last year since his freshman year and still had over 1000 yard passing and 350 went to Hill...thats not too bad...Austin will get to show how good his OVERALL game is this year both blocking and catching
  12. Dont listen to what you hear...he'll still be there and i know that for a fact... he isnt going anywhere
  13. Who is coming in as the favorite and who should surprise some people? I personally think Ryle will be the heavy favorite with all the talent that they return and the addition of Ryan Luster in both o and d will certainly be a major help. The team to watch I think is Holmes. They have been down the past couple years but if they are going to be good any year, this is the year. They return 9 starters on offense including Duran Jefferson who will be one of the biggest threats in nky next year as well as Austin Hill and Rashad Palmer at wideouts and Rodney Covington at runningback. But the x-factor of this group will be returning 4 out of 5 starters on the o-line. Defensively the whole d-line and secondary are back and also return Justin Young at linebacker who was second in nky last year in tackles. This team will turn some heads next year if they can stay focused and work together as a TEAM. Personally I think nky 4a will be wide open but the top 4 teams will be Ryle, Dixie, Boone, and Holmes in no particular order.
  14. Mike sharp of Holmes may be one of the strongest o lineman in nky next year..kid squats 605 and benches 300 +...also has a nice frame, about 6'2 230
  15. Holy Cross will definetly be a contender next year but i dont see them being able to compete with holmes and covcath...they will probably be in the same boat that highlands was in this year
  16. I agree...covcath will be the dawgs toughest test and it will be a great game next year, I just think Holmes returns too much for the colonels. And like you said maybe after a week or two, holmes will return to the top position. Also im unsure of the tranfer's name but he's a 6'4 freshman who is also playing football and is a qb/lb so you know the kid has some athleticism.
  17. As far as size being a problem, Josh Nelson (6'4) who was only a sophomore this year is the same size as Greg Rice and has the POTENTIAL to play like him... and Terrence Clark is the other big man and he is around 6'4, 6'5. So size wont be a factor especially in nky next year. They have always been smaller. Also if im not mistaken, austin, duran and the other seniors of next year dont play aau anymore...they go to blue chip camps instead to work on their games and play in high school summer leagues with the school. The only ones that i know of playin aau are henderson, nelson, braeon avery, and terrence clark...their aau team won the state championship this past summer for their age group. All 4 started...so the junior class of next year is just as strong as the seniors (duran, austin, etc.) Also as far as the transfer's name, im not quite sure. I just know he's a freshman and will also be playing football. HE is a quarterback and linebacker in football as well.
  18. Here is a list of Holmes strongest players for each lift Squat- Mike Sharp (605..new record at Holmes) Bench- Tommy Britton (330) Power Clean- Thomas Benton (285) Dead Lift- Several players over 500
  19. With all of the boys being seniors next year, and having that extra year of maturity and experience and maybe the loss of one ego, I dont see that being a factor. After the way their season ended this year, they know wat needs to be done . Not even three days after getting knocked out of the region, duran, austin, arrez and several other players were already back in the gym working on their game which is a definite good sign. These boys know what needs to be done to return to the top. Also, the transfer has been at Holmes half the year but was ineligible this year because he came so late. He may not even contribute at the varsity level next year since he's only a freshman i believe this year, but he definetly has a nice frame and could help them out off the bench maybe in a 8th man role.
  20. Holmes pitching will be kind of weak this year but their starting rotation could have looked like this had nobody left... Jonathon Swanson (now at scott) Ryan Gribble (threw 3 no hitters as a freshman, trying out for Florence Freedom this summer and anyone who knows this kid knows he is the real deal...definetly on Curley's level) Tj Campbell (now in Michigan, pitched varsity as a freshman and 8th grader and was bringing high 70's, low 80's as a freshman) Tommy Black (no longer at Holmes, would be the best #4 in nky and probably around the state) Anthony Denk (only one left at Holmes but is their #1 this year) But then again coulda doesnt count...imo beechwood has the most solid rotation around nky with covcath a close second and ryle is always tough
  21. THIS YEAR covcath had better leadership and a better TEAM, simply put...NEXT YEAR they lose many of those big contributers and leaders...this thread is about The players of NEXT YEAR, not this one. I simply stated that next year, Holmes has to be the favorite because they dont lose anyone and all other teams are losing key players....but thanks for the input old guy.
  22. wow didnt see this one coming...just goes to show how hard it is to repeat as a state champion in ky...good season sl and good luck to graves co
  23. Couldnt agree anymore 2short...also i'm not sure but i think Holmes got a transfer that may see some varsity time next year...nice size kid, probably 6'3, 6'4
  24. Probable starting 5 next year: Duran Jefferson PG Austin Hill G Arrez Henderson G Josh Nelson F/C ???????? As far as nate is concerned, its still unknown whether or not he'll be with the dawgs next year, but even if he doesnt return, Holmes is still the favorite... those 4 listed above are enough to lead them to a regional title and make some noise at state Also remember this...covcath's seniors this year all went to rupp as sophomores (got this from yesterdays paper) playing in little action but still was there...Holmes seniors next year did the same as sophomores but were the team's top players...too much experience and talent next year for any team to compete with them...Covcath returns a nice group and will make a run at Holmes, but wont have enough to beat them IMO
  25. Casey plays everywhere...i cant recall him catching too much though...but then again i also havent seen him play in about two years and that was when he pitched for beechwood
