  1. This would give all the kids that play for summer baseball teams that are not affiliated in anyway with their respective school teams a whole month to not worry about their kids going to basketball, football, soccer or whatever. Most summer teams are Legion, Usssa, Academy teams, etc. and are not legislated by KHSAA. I've never heard a High School baseball coach agree with the dead period being in the summer anyway since baseball is played all over the world in the Summer.
  2. That would mean reporting a majority of coaches and if non-high school coaches are coaching them and not using school facilities or they are going to a non affiliated camp then KHSAA has no control nor should they over what these kids do with their time and I stress: IT IS THEIR TIME. But I do agree that coaches shouldn't do this but it happens all the time practically everywhere. To believe otherwise is a bit naive. Not saying it is right, just telling it like it is. You won't get these coaches to admit to this but it happens alot.
  3. Most coaches get around the dead period anyway by having their kids do camps or play for non-high school coaches which the KHSAA can't control so not sure that dead period is all the effective anyway. In theory it is good to insulate the kids from fanatical coaches but in practice it doesn't really work that well.
  4. Football is king in Boyle County. If you have that kind of arm Coach Harp will find a way to get you on the field. Plus getting drafted and making it are two different things.
  5. True enough. Why he didn't throw harder against Catholic is anybody's guess. He was clocked at 94 multilple times in the region by more than one college scout.
  6. Word is, he's already throwing 95 during football season so I would say it's safe to say he'll throw that several months from now. He should have a shot a Mr. Baseball.
  7. Rich will at times throw 95+ this year and get drafted so I'd say that separates him from the pack.
  8. Lot of pitching in this region. How many regions have this much pitching? Games should be interesting and low scoring as a rule.
  9. He is a nice pitcher as well as is Wallen from Somerset, Perkins from Rockcastle has a chance if he matures and obviously Cooper from Boyle.
  10. 1-Whitten 2-Perkins 3-Robertson 3-Grimes These 4 are all D-1 prospects. 3 and 4 could be reversed.
  11. And Southwestern is a pretty good 3-3 team as well.
  12. Take the starting QB off of a lot of teams roster and the same thing would happen. It would be like Somerset losing Deaton this year. Things would change dramatically. There would no longer be the Deaton/Cole show and you have to have both partners at the dance. Give Hines time to develop a QB with some age and maturity and then if he doesn't win you cast some stones. No coach wins without talented players.
  13. I would exclude Danville from this statement. They would love to get in another shootout with Somerset.
  14. Must win for the Jumpers. They can't afford to go to 0-5. They'll pin their ears back and play with hunger. Cumberland couldn't have caught the Jumpers at a worse time. Jumpers by 3 tds.
  15. Danville by 28 or more. Too many weapons and the Cole/Deaton connection will get probably 3 tds or maybe more but that won't be enough.
  16. Seems like the best way to not be the back-up next year would be to play this year as the back-up.
  17. Why play his senior year if he doesn't play his junior year?
  18. So is he the likely repalcement for Deaton next year since Deaton is a senior?
  19. Who are the back-up quarterbacks for these two teams?
