When you go deep in the playoffs every year once in awhile you are going to get it handed to you. So even though we took a whipping we can at least say we were there on these occassions. You have to be there to win and you have to be there to lose. In both of those games the better team won. The Birds have certainly been on the winning end more often than the losing end. So with that I will say that this game will be close and with CovCath putting up 39 I think the Birds win this game 35 - 31.

Congratulations to the Birds! Also congratulations to the Flyers on a great year. You played hard and never quit. You moved the ball quite well and had the play at half worked this would have been a different game going into the locker room with some momentum. Go Birds!

To all the FC fans. Have a safe trip to Fort Thomas. Good luck and may the best team win! I am sure it will be an exciting game based upon the strides your program has taken.

While I think NCC is going to win this game I don't think it will be a blow out. NCC has the propensity to turn the ball over in big games the last couple of years. Beechwood this year and last year. CovCath and Ryle (which almost cost them). So I look for this to be closer than most think and for NCC to turn it over a few times holding on for the win.

I would say it is a cost difference. Whatever HHS charges for use of the field vs. probably free at CCH.

OB, Also we did not shoot the ball well against these teams in the first half when we had open looks as they all collapsed around Neltner. It seems we loosen up and start hitting those shots at a higher percentage as the game goes on.

OB, Not sure why they did not get out of the gate real well against those 3. It may have something to do with the speed of those 3 teams and it takes them awhile to adjust. It might have something to do with keeping the guns in the game and not getting into foul trouble as well and then in the second half turn it up. I have noticed that they have a tendency to push the ball more in the second half. If they don't have an open look they then have the discipline to go to their set and work the ball for an open look They made their free throws and passed the ball extremely well while pushing the ball and really controlling the tempo in the second half IMO.

Lexington Catholic

First half Highlands did not play well at all. Turned the ball over and missed wide open shots. They continued to play hardnosed defense to keep the game close. I think it was 22-16 RH at half. In the second half RH scored right away but then the Birds started passing and shooting the way they can. They handled the RH press and got quite a few quick buckets and Gross and Gilles hit some quick 3's that put the Birds up. RH kept playing hard but HHS then stole the ball a couple of times and some more quick buckets. All around good team effort with balanced scoring smothering D in the second half. Highlands scored 56 in the second half and held RH to 26. RH several times tried to contest shots inside on Neltner, Gilles and Gross and the shot went in and they fouled resulting in additional 3 point plays or goal tending calls. Klingenberg, Hall, McMahon, Witte and Guduilgi all played well. OJ Mayo played a nice game but called for 2 quick offensive fouls driving the lane within a minute of each other. He could have pulled up on each of them and made a 6 or 8 foot shot. RH is a very good team without Walker. I would not count them out of anything.
