I just received my Cat Pause basketball preview magazine today in the mail. I am guessing they use the coaches votes to compile the preseason rankings and best players list. I have no idea really. Here is what it looks like by Cat Pause: Teams 1. North Oldham 2. Woodford County 3. Spencer County 4.South Oldham 5. Simon Kenton 6. Oldham County 7. Collins 8. Henry County 9. Anderson County 10. Walton- Verona **** What really sticks out to me is Henry County. I think they will be good this year and much better than 8th. Players Rank: 1. Austin Sears 2. Baylor Nolin 3. Omari Jointer 4. Ty Bryant 5. Caden Gaither 6. Samuel Seawright 7. Noah Beasley 8. Kolton Wuchterl 9. Bray Bilton 10. Tommy Gregg **** Only 1 senior on the list is something you typically don’t see.

No disrespect to Central but CAL is on another level. It will be a running clock in the second half.

JCPS (Louisville) is in financial trouble according to some stories that have came out. Bankruptcy was even thrown out there ….. Will be interesting on how they will be able to afford a shot clock at each of their schools. I have no idea how money works so it could be a moot point.

We are 2 weeks away from basketball tryouts so here are some of my thoughts on the 8th region : - North Oldham will be mine and 99% of peoples pick to win the region . I even think North can win the WHOLE thing! - Henry County is going to have a big year be in the top 5 of the region all season. - Will Cade Goodwin play basketball this year for Collins? Rumor is that he is going all in for football. - I am excited to see Omari Jointer play and see if he can help Woodford be a contender. ***Can South Oldham shocked the world and repeat? I do think South will be very good again . I am excited for December to get here and watch some high school basketball.

If this stands, the new District 29 will have 12 of the last 15 regional champions in it. It will 100% make the regional tourney weaker and the best teams will not be represented.

Interesting take, And to be honest I really like it . For geography purposes it really makes since too!!

High school kids getting NIL money, kids transfer constantly with no punishment and now a shot clock.. The older I get the more I feel like a grumpy old grandpa. I just want to hold onto the good ole days but unfortunately, they are gone. High school basketball is still my favorite sport so I will get used to it. TO be honest it will not affect 99% of the games because basketball is a faster sport now than it has ever been but I am a sucker for a district or regional game where the top seed gets beat because the other team holds the ball the last 2 minutes of the 3rd and 4th quarter..... Upsets are fun!!!!

Nothing is going to change for this season. However, next season there will be a lot on the table. It will be interesting how things shake up. The elephant in the room is no one will want to come to the “Oldham” district. I wonder if there is talks about splitting the 3 Oldham schools up into different districts. I don’t think that will happen but that would solve the issue of no one wanting to join them!!!

Obviously 1 school from District 30 or 31 has to be moved to the Oldham County District. It’s going to be a tough decision. Geography it would make sense for Trimble, Henry or Eminence to be moved to the 29th. But Trimble fought like heck to get away from the 29th so I know the rest of District 31 will put up the same fight to stay away from the Oldham schools. So in my opinion it has to be Collins or Spencer that gets moved. And ultimately I think it will be Spencer. Collins will not want to leave a District that they have their cross town rivals in it. just my opinion and thoughts

We are right at 3 months away from the start of bball season in the bluegrass. I got in a social media / YouTube black hole yesterday lol. I tried to find stuff on any 8th region kiddo. There was a similar theme- THERE IS ALOT YOUNG TALENT IN THIS REGION. Found some good highlights and info on: Austin Sears (North Oldham-Soph) Pierre Rondo (North Oldham- 8th grade) Noah Beasley (Anderson- Soph) Ty Bryant (Oldham- fresh) Joaquin Siakam (South Oldham- Soph) *** I am not saying there is not upperclassman that are good but I just kept seeing info on these guys. ***Who did I leave off? Any more underclassman in the 8th region that is gonna make a splash this season.

I am heading Josh Leslie , former Oldham County coach , got this job. Is there any truth to this?

KHSAA has zero rules. The kids moving schools like they do is a joke. I know a kid that has played for 4 schools in 4 years lol.

I feel the same way… To have a chance to finish off your high school career in Rupp Arena is not what it used to be I guess. These prep schools play in front of like 15 people on any given night lol . I just don’t get it. I wish him well and hope he enjoys the experience. I could only imagine how his teammates feel and the coaching staff at Male feel right now. They were my pick to win the 7th this coming season, not anymore!

Coach Klein teams seem to underachieve in my opinion. He has so much talent with this group now with the addition to Jordan they have to be the favorites in the state. Correct? Jeremiah, Josh and Jordan. The 3 Js should dominate

Wow, I didn’t know this. I was already high on Henry County before hearing this news. The Wildcats are gonna make some noise in the 8th region this season!!!!

I like your predictions…. just not sure about South Oldham. Their PG quit to focus on softball and I think that really hurts them. If she plays I agree they are a clear #2 in the region. Madison Young is the front runner for POY and their 2 guard can shoot it. Just not sure they have enough to make it to the regional finals. South will win the district easily, though.. I am afraid Simon might win all 3 games in the regional tourney by 25plus. I hope it’s a more competitive tourney though.

Yes he has been at CAL since 6th grade. He has hit a different level over the last 6 months and has played really well on the 3SSB circuit this summer with Indiana Elite . He will have a ton more offers in the next month.

With dead period almost here, which teams and/or players stood out this summer in the 8th region?

Anyone have a summer schedule for any team in the 8th region? Would like to watch some live bball in June.
