  1. While Belfry's offense has made some positive changes from last season, the offensive output has been impressive. The run game is as good as usual, but what is definitely eye catching is the passing game, which is virtually unheard of. This young QB (Chase Varney) is a player! Look for the Pirates to come away with the win.
  2. Given the way the rebs have been playing up to this point and being nationally ranked, it should go to Boyle. Jmo.
  3. This annual game always brings great excitement to both programs and anyone who shows interest in this contest. both programs bring much tradition to the game each year. Raceland, no doubt does not want to see another L from Pikeville as they have lost the last two championship games at Kroger to the Panthers. It's no secret Pikeville hasn't looked like Pikeville the last three early season games going O-3. However, given it will not be an easy task Friday, I think Pikeville wins this one. Pikeville-38 Raceland-14
  4. Got to admit up to this point, Pikeville has not played like the Pikeville that fans have been accustomed to by winning championships. But look at the brutal schedule that Pikeville is and has played for several seasons. Coaching staff will not shy away from much larger competition for a reason, and that reason is to be at Kroger Field in early November. Much respect to Raceland, but imo, the Panthers turn the corner this Friday evening at Ram Stadium with the W.
  5. Positive changes to the offense paid off for Pikeville last night. Issac Duty's passes were more direct with much success. Brenden Anthony being injured on the sidelines certainly didn't help matters. Not sure what the injury is, but it does involve his ankle. Just hope he has a speedy and complete healing from it. If your a Pikeville fan you have to be very pleased with the O changes. Defensively, there's a lot of learning that still needs to be done. Too many points given up. Those silly mistakes that were made in the JC game last week still haunt. They must be corrected. Mistakes on both sides of the ball directly led to scores by LCA ; I know of two at least. All in all, Pikeville never gave up. They played very hard, right down to the end. It doesn't let up for the Panthers the next few weeks as they will be at Raceland, then at home against Belfry, then another home game against Ironton. Mistakes have got to be corrected!
  6. The first two games (4-A schools) have been a real challenge to a 1-A school, no doubt. But the Panthers are going to have to challenge themselves to find their identity offensively if they expect to be back at Kroger Field in early December. Jmo
  7. After last nights poor performance by Pikeville, there's not much hope of a win at LCA unless the Panthers play with more intensity, and clean up those silly mistakes. There's plenty of talent on this team, but playing like they know they can is a must.
  8. I believe Pikeville wins this game, but it will be more of a task than last season where Zack McCoart, rb for Central was injured and did not play. On the other side, Pikeville's rb Brenden Anthony went out in the first half due to a collapsed lung. However, looking back to last week, the Eagles racked up over 300 yards against a good 6-A Madison Central team. Pikeville will be hungry for its first win of the early season after its initial loss to a very good 4-A team in Corbin, so imo this should be a hard fought and exciting close game. I'm going with Pikeville in a close one. Pikeville-28 J. Central-21
