JH has finally opened up the playbook and trusted some of their seniors to make big plays when needed. Offensively, JH has really turned the corner led by star RB Cavalli Pittman and senior quarterback Austin Richardson. Defensively, JH has improved tremendously since the beginning of the season. The Dawgs play real hard for 4 quarters. Real test will be JHs secondary vs Etowns star sophomore receiver Jace Hagy. This will likely be a really good game and should have a really good crowd at the Dawg Pound as JH and Etown haven't played since 2022.

If JH wins this game they get the #1 seed in district. If JH loses JH gets the 3 seed with 2 district loses and tiebreaker over Marion County. Taylor would have tiebreaker over Etown and get the 1 seed.

Huge win for JH. Lots of fight shown and needed for JH to beat Taylor tonight. Sets up a matchup with Etown next week with the District Championship on the line!

Underrated storyline in this game: Marion County head coach Ross Brown was an assistant at JH for a LONG time when Mark Brown and Chad Lewis were head coaches. Lots of respect for Ross and what he brings to that program. Key to me this week will be can John Hardin maintain gap responsibilities against the Wing-T? I do think Marion is improved but verdict is still out on how much. JH should have the better athletes on the field. Give me the Dawgs this week. JH - 29 Marion - 15

Marion is very intriguing to me... All of their wins so far this year are against not great teams but they are winning games and likely coming into this game with some confidence. JH played a good half of football last Friday against Fairdale, connecting on 2 passing touchdowns early in the game and taking a lead early. But struggled again in the 2nd half before finally pulling away in the 4th. This game will likely be close due to the amount of possessions with both teams heavily leaning on the run. Dawgs must come out ready to play this week if they want to win this game and honestly JH needs to win this one if they have any postseason aspirations this year.

I would disagree with this take about JH offensive/defensive line. I think that area is a strength for JH, it is hard to run the ball and get big plays in a 9 man box and running wishbone. They also run a 3 man front on defense, early struggles not on the DL. JH really needs to bring along younger secondary and linebackers to be ready for District play.

I think the scores last week indicates that this will likely be a good game on Friday. JH is going to need to be able to throw the ball efficiently against a Bardstown team that will likely be as physical as Hancock was. Defense is taking on a big task with the athletes that Bardstown has so I am expecting a shootout. Will likely come down to turnovers and special teams. Good luck to both teams!

Still lots of room for improvement for the Dawgs but a win is a win at this point in the season. Cavalli ran like a dawg again tonight and JH got a couple of turnovers on defense. Still had some blown assignments and left lots of points on the field. JH will need to find a #2 back to Cavalli to keep him healthy later in the season imo. Big task next week at Bardstown.

I don’t know how we can say that 1 week into the season. Central with a new coach, NH losing to a really good LCA team and JH went 9-3 last year despite losing to Hancock week 1. Lots of football still to be played.

don't know anything about Seneca but JH is playing lots of young guys on defense, especially in the secondary. JH panicked early in the game on Friday, very similar to last year Week 1. 2 bad punt snaps (1 leading to a safety, 1 leading to a very short field), muffed kickoff return, blown assignments leading to big plays led to JH getting behind early in the game on Friday. With lots of young guys playing on defense, they just couldn't get the stop they needed in the 2nd half. Not all bad for the Dawgs despite the loss, Hancock is very physical and they were still able to run Cavalli for over 200 yards and completed some timely passes. Still think JH needs to throw the ball with Richardson to open up the box more but overall offense is farther along than last year. Defense will need to come along in a hurry if JH wants to go farther in the playoffs this year.

Central Hardin and Etown should be a great game on Friday night as well! Some good games in Hardin County this week!

I wonder if Seneca is that bad on offense or if Fern Creek is that good? Will find that out some on Thursday night when Seneca plays JH. I think this one will likely be a good one but I got Bardstown. They have some young studs on that roster!

This game will be played on THURSDAY (8/28) due to the official shortage. Both of these teams are coming into this game with a loss, Seneca lost 15-0 to Fern Creek week 1 and JH lost to Hancock County 42-28. There is no question that JH is gonna have to get the defense fixed in a hurry. It was a glaring issue during the scrimmages and JH gave up 42 points to Hancock last week. Don’t know much about Seneca but JH will probably put up some points. Question is, does Seneca have an offense good enough (or is JH defense that bad) to keep them in this game. JH is just playing some real inexperienced guys on defense due to injuries and what they graduated last year. Short week probably does the Dawgs some good. &nbsp Anyone have any information on Seneca?

Final at Hancock County. Dawgs are talented and Cavalli Pittman had over 200 yards rushing tonight but self inflicted mistakes (2 terrible snaps on punt, blown coverage for wide open TD and fumble on kickoff return) cost the Dawgs again. JH also has some real issues on defense, playing some young, inexperienced guys. Hancock County is always extremely well coached and were again tonight. That middle linebacker is a DAWG.
