Not sure Atherton has seen the type of pressure BG defense will bring and BG probably hasn’t seen a defense as good as Atherton’s since the South Warren game… Give me the guys in Purple simply because they’re more battle tested and playing their best football at the right time. GW did a good job slowing down Hampton and getting pressure to Ganaway but had no answer for Dillard in the quick routes or the Devils passing game in general. Bryant, Fountain and Shemwell(Khalil) all had a good night in the passing game. I’ve said it and I’ll keep saying it. Dillard is a great receiver, maybe even a generational level talent, I haven’t seen a receiver of his caliber in a Red Devil jersey. He makes bad throws look like good ones. What makes it even crazier is he usually the smallest guy on the field.

O was just robbed of a clear as day fumble.

This goes both ways. Dillard got hit 5yards out of bounds. No call. Matter of fact we get a touchdown called back a few plays later. The refs are being fair they just letting them play.

I’ll give the Gators their props. They executed that 2nd quarter drive almost to perfection and their run defense is solid!

Not even close. I’m high on the Devils right now. But I was also in this position in 2020, so I need to see it before I believe it…. Any ways I feel like Apollos defense is more in question for this game than their offense. I’m not sure they can stop/slow down Barber. If BG scores 21 they win because I don’t see Apollo scoring more than 3 TD’s against the Purples but I do believe they have a punchers chance.

I’d ease up on this. We’re not a clear favorite and a long way from being state champions. Feel like BG will still have a big say so. I can honestly still see BG in the Finals

You also said O wouldn’t running clock Grayson. Then they proceeded to put up 62 points. And MNH was a good team until O beats the breaks off them now they’re a nobody team when none of their defeats were more than 9points other than O. Even GW (whose considered a solid team by many of the BG area folks) only beat them by 3. I’m sure after O beats them they’ll be a nobody too. O could running clock everybody in the playoffs and the sentiment on here would be 5A is just down this year. Also comparing Wimsatt and Ganaway atp isn’t fair because 1 had 2 1/2 yrs in a system with other players he’s played with since middle school, and the other is playing with a team he just met less than 8months ago. Can’t really hold the CAL and St. X game against Ganaway. But based on efficiency alone Ganaway is better.

Apollos inconsistency is frustrating. But I’d say BG struggles with consistency this year too. If BG plays a 1st half like they did against Grayson with the holding penalties and lackluster defense they could find themselves down in the 1st half to a hungry/motivated Eagles squad. Ultimately BG’s physicality will be too much for the Eagles to compete with for 48min. As long as BG doesn’t look forward to Atherton too soon they should win this game comfortably.

I agree but that was the case against MNH, OC, Henderson and pretty much anybody else we’ve played. One of the biggest improvements from Ganaway Jr is that he gets rid of the ball pretty quick.

I agree I can see that being the likely scenario.

lol I had to… I believe we do. Watching them against MNH they don’t have the DB’s to slow down our passing attack. They’re a good team no doubt and much better than Grayson, just not athletic enough imo.
