Bracken Co. at Nicholas Co. at 7:00 PM on Monday, March 2nd. The bad news for NKYians is Brossart drew the short straw and has to travel to GRC on Monday night. It has been a magical year for Coach Stamm and the Lady 'Stangs in his first year, but that will be a very stern test. The good news for NKYians is Campbell County is on the other half of the bracket, and we could get the Camels and GRC for the 10th Region Championship and the ticket to the Sweet 16.

The Ryle win was very good, but Ryle's season in totality isn't outstanding, and they have the same depth issues that HC has. If you look at the very flawed RPI (less flawed this time of year), Brossart and Lyon County are both better wins than Ryle, but for sure, that was impressive. They also shot the ball very well that night, which isn't a coincidence. Exactly no one saw last night's drubbing in the 33rd coming, and honestly, yes, I'd call it flukey. Heck, I said last night on here, in black and white, I'd still take Cooper over Ryle if they were to play at NKU in the finals. I have said since November I hope Cooper doesn't win the 9th, so I'm certainly not carrying their water, and I think not having Justin Holthaus on the bench is a MASSIVE difference, but they still, to me, are most likely to win the 9th, with Notre Dame the 2nd most likely, if I was handicapping it (which I will on Monday when the draw is out). As for who I'm rooting for to win the 9th, they'd go in this order: Holy Cross, Notre Dame, Ryle, Cooper....I don't give the 4 from the 34th or 36th much of a shot.

I've said it all year, including in the preview thread back in November, I think he has done, and is doing, an amazing job! Great guy, terrific energy, and gets the most out of his roster.

RJAL is the one that said "they need to be lights out". I was only adding onto that when you have very little depth, and not a great presence around the basket, you need to be good and efficient to compete. They have a lot of strong points, and some distinct weapons, but when Brossart or Lyon County is your best win, and you are 0-5 against Campbell County, Notre Dame, and Cooper, it is tough for me to see them winning the 9th. I'd honestly LOVE them to. I think Ted has done a GREAT job there, their runs in the All A have been so much fun, and I think he runs his program the right way. I don't see them winning the 9th, but I'd sure love it if they did!

You're right, they were actually the #2 seed. St. Henry beat Dixie in the regular season to claim the #1 seed.

A) for sure, I've mentioned it many times, but losing D'Myah was awful for her, but devastating for the team as well. So glad she has her Youngstown State commitment locked up!! B) needing to be lights out every night is hard. Ted is great, the girls they have play so hard, just not a lot of scoring options this year.

Notre Dame is playing so well, and if the 18 point win over the Camels didn't convince some people, this will help. If not the favorites heading to NKU, they are certainly right there. Their depth vs HC's lack of depth leaves the Indians needing a lot to go right.

First of all, Coach Haitz must love not seeing Justin Holthaus on that other bench. ? This is incredibly impressive, Ryle should enjoy the heck out of this! However, I'm sure I'm nuts, but I'd still lean Cooper in a 9th Region Championship. That said, I'd love to see a new winner in the 9th, as we've discussed. Enjoy it, Raiders!!! What a great program.

Big night in NKY for Girls' Basketball!!! * In the 32nd, #1 Simon Kenton at #12 Walton-Verona for the Championship at 7:00. Likely will be the least competitive of the games this evening. Both in the 8th Region Tourney, and SK is a big favorite to win that as well! * In the 33rd, #2 Cooper at #6 Ryle at 7:00 for the championship! * In the 34th, #9 Dixie plays #11 St. Henry at Lloyd for the title at 7:00! * In the 35th, we have a great Championship Game as #3 Notre Dame takes on #5 Holy Cross at Beechwood at 7:00! * In the 36th, #8 Highlands plays #10 NewCath at 7:00 at Bellevue. Side-note, Bellevue is easily my least favorite gym in NKY in terms of parking, so get there early and wear your walking shoes.

Camels showing better form, but Brossart continues to drop games to the tougher teams on their schedule. This game wasn't as close as the regular season game, when the Lady 'Stangs were really rolling. Congrats to both for making the 10th Region Tourney. Hope Camels and GRC are on opposite sides of the bracket.

Amazing game for a district semi, I expect the senior-laden Indians to play with great desperation. With that said, Beechwood is terrific fundamentally and won't beat themselves, so HC will have to execute and earn it.

Our Top 12 teams have all advanced to their Region Tournament, and our 13-16 have all been eliminated and have seen their season's come to an end.

Only area game tonight is the 37th District Championship, at Campbell County Middle, between Bishop Brossart and Campbell County. Tip is at 7:00.

The #1 seed in the 34th knock off Ludlow, ending their season. St. Henry will now play #2 seeded Dixie for the title, but both move on to the 9th. In the preview thread I took Dixie to avenge their earlier loss to St. Henry and I still think that is most likely.

Final from Erlanger (Lloyd) in the 34th District Semis. Dixie moves on to the finals (and the Region), but Lloyd's strong season comes to an end.

Conner played better recently, but overall, a long winter for Coach Gambrel's Cougs. Their season comes to an end.
