Schlinger for BHS and Cody for CCH

Heard this was a tight one. LC took it 3-2, none earned. Johnson had an RBI double to get things started for BHS. Castleman crushed one to right-center to tie it up in the 6th. Bender started and went 4 for LC. Not sure who closed for the win. Schlinger went the distance for BHS. Sounds like sportsmanship isn't much of a priority in Lexington.

This was a classic pitchers duel between two 6-0 pitchers. Schlinger (BW, 6-1-0) and Hartig (CC, 7-0-1) threw nearly identicle games. Hartig had the edge in H's, 3-4, & k's, 5-1. Both walked just 3. Each went the distance and faced fewer than 30 batters. Beechwood made up for the k's with great defense by Jackman, SS, and Johnson, 3rd. Very efficient game from both mounds. Both defenses were stingy on the steal. It really did come down to what is arguably a matter if inches at the plate but, ironically, that is what defines a true pitcher's duel...a matter of inches around the plate. Very fun game to watch.

Don't disagree but, curious why you state that HHS would need those pitching performances. This could be a statement about their offense or defense. All teams have their challenges and they certainly have established their pitching depth. Either way, any thoughts on teams sandbagging 1's or 2's for later round games?

First time BHS has been shutout this year.

Johnson and Wilder both went 2-3 and scored runs. Trusty and Huseman (2) had key RBIs. Castleman scored with a steal of home in the 5th. Schlinger (CG, 6-0-0) had them shutout with 1-down in the 7th and lost one in the woods behind left-center to Adell that scored both Ballard runs. Another nice team win for the Tigers!

Great point abt heeding the prior warning. Not wise to ignore the umps. But, this ultimately sounds like more of a power trip by the ump exerting his "rule" over the teenager. If that's the case, IMO, wholly innapropriate for an umpire.

The Tigers have hit well all year, putting pressure on just about any pitcher they've faced. Tiger pitchers have tossed more than a few gems like the one today. Today was a solid test against a good Cov Cath Team.

That is a nice picture and it sounds as if this was a great ball game. But that pic proves nothing. I don't see the tag in that pic. From that angle, the glove could still be several inches from the runner. Not saying I know one way or another, just that a still pic can be deceiving and you can't (shouldn't) pin a loss on a single play. Not fair to the umps nor the players.
