Feburary 2nd, 2018 PRESS RELEASE: For Immediate Release Bracken County High School would like to announce the formation of the Bracken County High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Bracken County High School Athletic Hall of Fame was conceived in 2018 as memorial to the outstanding Athletes, Coaches, and Contributors who, through their athletic achievements, have brought honor to themselves, their school, and the community. A seven person committee was organized to develop guidelines for eligibility and selection. The purpose of the Hall of Fame is threefold. First, to recognize and honor the great Athletes, Coaches, and Contributors who have brought fame to Bracken County High School from 1946 to present and Brooksville High School prior to 1946. Second, to establish in the hearts of our youth a motivating influence to excel in athletics. Third, to foster pride, preserve good sportsmanship, scholarship, and citizenship in our school, city, and community. The inaugural hall of fame class will be inducted in December. Nominations for admittance are currently being accepted through June 1. The hall of fame by-laws and nomination forms are located at Athletics - Bracken County Schools. If anyone has any questions, please contact Athletic Director Daniel Fisher at 606-735-2523 or Daniel.Fisher@Bracken.kyschools.us.

Ok but do historic programs like Mason County and Holmes really want to lower to their standards by playing in a tournament with only 45 other schools? I mean the All A has 125 schools. Does Mason County or Holmes really need Tournament like this?? Last time I checked enrollment isn’t a problem for their success.

2018 39th District Draw

Even though Bracken County would have probably played Mason County if it were seeded, both coaches and the AD made it very clear to me no matter what they would still vote to seed. -

Have to consider girls basketball may contribute to this decscion as well.

You’ll see Friday if it’s happening.

Excuses. Lace them up because we all know Mason County Basketball isn’t what it used to be, and probably will not return to that way for a long time. Sign a two-year contract at a time. It’s a 15-20 minute drive from Maysville-Augusta and prepares both teams for the postseason and I see no negatives to this.

Hearing reports that there will be a motion to seed the 38th District Tournament with 3/4 schools agreeing. Meeting is this Friday

CovCath is so good. They are going to win the National Championship -
Just thought of this, Bracken and St Pat have both decided in a contract where the play home and away, so why hasn’t Augsua? Would it have not been in the best interest for the fans, players, coaches, and entire region and state to have Mason County play at the 1926 gym? Mason County playing at Augusta in 2012-2018 seasons would be very winnable games by Augusta especially at home. Everybody wants to see it, so why no make it happen? I think it has been in 70’s the last time it happened.

Bracken County up the entire game and up 5 with 2:30 left. Slowly but surely, getting better. Proud of the kids tonight. -

I think having 7 jerseys numbers, which it will end up being, is a little bit much. That’s almost 20% of your numbers not allowed to be worn. -

Exactly. Not just go by what they did on the floor, but off the floor as well. Never wearing a number again or having it hang up forever is a huge deal. -

Pendleton County has 6 boys numbers retired: #20 3181 career points #22 first D1 player #23 career leader in wins, assists #30 all American at Transy #31 first KY IN All Star, 3 NCAA Tournaments #52 drafted by Phoenix Suns -

I think you can retire jerseys to people of great status or honor. But only retire the number if they win Mr. Baksetball or in the Seiters’ unique case. -

I would say never by any level. Because usually our varsity jerseys get passed down to JV and Freshman teams. And you don’t want someone wearing #25 all the way through Fresh and JV and then have to change on varsity.
