Solid game by Ryle. Wasn't their best performance, but give CCH credit for a great game plan paired with excellent execution for the first half. Slowed down the tempo to a crawl and created a couple turnovers. Their QB kept the chains moving with his feet and made some critical plays to keep it close. He's a stud. The score was 14-14 at half. Ryle came out strong with 3 unanswered TD's to put the game away in the 2nd half. Big games by Verax, Workman, Lyons, Lee, and Coppola on offense. Anthony White was a monster on D. Not sure of the # of sacks, but he was a certainly the difference maker in the 2nd half. I wasn't a fan of CCH keeping their starters in after Ryle brought their subs in with 2:00 left, which lead to a meaningless TD with under :10 seconds left. Seemed odd. Not sure what the logic was there. Would have been nice to see both team's bench get reps for their last Frosh game. Also nice to see #2 vs #2's when possible. Ryle's Frosh end their run together with 7 undefeated seasons that includes 4 NKYFL Superbowls, 2 KYMSFA State Championships, and 10-0 for their Freshman season. Well done players and coaches!

If SK didn't play Ryle twice, they would have been alone for 2nd place. Good season Pioneers!

Lol! Our kids were being cursed as they walked off the field. I don’t think me asking how the injured player was doing and sending prayers prevented them from saying good game, but OK.

Just watched the game again. It's like a good pot of chili...even better the next day! Ryle had the running clock going with 4:57 left in the 3rd quarter w/ 8 minute quarters. That's what we should be discussing. I charted the stats, but I'll keep them to myself. I don't want see anymore heads exploding on here. Let's just say, Verax proved once again he's on a different level. Ant Coppola is becoming one of the best WR's around. Ryle's D was nasty last night! As big as Highlands o-line is, they had no answer for Ryle's pressure. Great job all around, players and coaches! Looking forward to the CovCath game next week.

I agree that both were illegal hits and a flag should have been thrown. You can make an argument the Highlands block warranted 2 penalties, one for the block and one for standing over him. It seems to me the intent here is to deflect the results of the game onto something else. The "we lost" playbook seems to be in full affect: "Dirty players with poor sportsmanship. We played terrible and are regressing. It's only Freshman football. Our varsity won. We won championships years ago and you haven't." Highlands fans should just tip their cap and move on.

Not a helmet to helmet collision on the first hit. All shoulder and arms. Same as the second. Also, if you're going Kamikaze down the middle of a kickoff, you probably already know you're going to get hit. Highlands player was the closest defender to the ball and still very much in the play.

OK, but is the Highlands play a blindside block? Did he or did he not posture over the player afterwards? Both are penalties, are they not? Is that a dirty play?

First is the "dirty" play from the Ryle player who was flagged, ejected, and cannot play next week. The second is a block from a Highlands player (who appears to be the same player who was injured) making a blindside block and flexing over top of a Ryle player. If one is dirty and worthy of all of this criticism, then the other is too.

I couldn’t be more proud. Running clock vs a quality team on the road. They did their talking on the field and not on social media. And if you’re referring to the penalty at the end of the game. Nothing dirty about that play whatsoever. Just a physical football play. Deserving of a penalty? Borderline. I guess you can make a case for blindside block because he came from the side, but the Highlands player was running full speed straight down Main Street on a kickoff. Not sure what else to expect. Very glad to hear he’s OK! On another note, heard a few unruly fans screamed profanities at our players and coaches afterwards. Our guys kept their composure and just laughed it off.

7 years of undefeated football is impressive…even by Highlands standards, don’t you think?

They’ve never lost a game. 4 undefeated seasons in NKYFL, 2 undefeated seasons in MS. 9-0 this year. They did tie Withrow last season in a scrimmage. Chris Henry’s boys can play!

Just heard some Highlands players provided some bulliten board material before the game on social media. All in good fun, but in retrospect, probably wasn’t a good idea!

Fryman is the best 8th grader, not the best Frosh. Hard to put him ahead of Maher, Campbell, O'Hara, Verax, Savage, Lee, Lyons, Coppola, Litmer, and Harney. No knock on him. He's an incredible athlete and great kid. Those others just have a year on him age wise. Look out next year, though.
