  1. Spencer County just beat a 14-2 Larue County team out of the fifth region by 19 points. 8th region making some noise.
  2. Spencer knocks off 14-2 Larue County. It was a beat down. If Spencer County plays like that the rest of the year, they can do some damage.
  3. Spindoc--in reply to the following post: Lost by 7 at home is almost taking someone down? OK, let's just analyze Spencer with the hopes we don't totally derail the already misguided thread. Spencer is 10-6. Of their 10 wins, only one opponent has a winning record in DeSales who is also 10-6. The combined record of the opponents they've beaten is 52-92 for a winning % of .361. Not exactly the juggernauts you'd prognosticate. They host LaRue Co who is 12-2 on the 17th. Maybe they can graduate from almost taking them down to making it reality. Reply--I would think a reasonable person would say that if South Oldham, Oldham, and Collins are generally considered the top three teams in the region then Spencer County losing to each by single digits would say that they aren't that far behind. Never said that Spencer was a juggernaut. Also, I would definitely say losing by 7 points to the "supposed" top ranked team (Oldham County) at home is an almost upset. Especially when "lowly" Spencer County was down by 4 with two minutes left. You won't admit it, but I would be willing to bet you thought that would be a blowout. Sorry it hurts so many peoples feeling on here that Spencer County has become successful. Get used to it for the immediate future. Talent plus great coaching equals wins. Also, all you people out there creating rumors that Coach Burns is leaving--quit wasting your time. He's staying. Anyway, I'll try not to say too many nice things about Spencer County in the future. Some of you might not be able to handle it. Don't want to hurt any feelings. I'll keep quiet and enjoy the success. Just remember I said it first on here back in the summer. Peace out!
  4. Thanks Papa Pigskin. You are correct. By the way, Spencer County almost took down Oldham tonight. When are you all going to start listening to me. They are the fifth best team in the region with a chance of upsetting anybody on a given night. Come March you all will call me Nostradomus. LOL.
  5. Spencer County has played South Oldham twice, Collins, and Oldham so I asked several of the Spencer County players how they would rank those teams. They said South Oldham first, Collins second, and Oldham third. That is when all teams are healthy. That's just the perspective of some players that have played all three. From what I have seen I would tend to agree. Still waiting to see Anderson to get a good idea of where their place belongs.
  6. Oldham County escapes with the win. Oldham County was up four at the half. Fourth quarter Oldham was up four late in the game and then closed it out. Spencer County was cold from the three. Upset was there to be had.
  7. You do realize Collins loses their best two players next year?? Spencer County will be better than them next year. Mark it down!!!
  8. Agree with pretty much everything, however, I still think South Oldham would be the #1 in my eyes. Didn't they only lose by 6 against Oldham with Griffen sick?
  9. Turner played. Spencer County actually did better when he was in the game. He played the whole first quarter. I was surprised how easily Spencer County got to the rim. We missed at least 15 gimme's.
  10. Spencer County made one three pointer. Never going to happen again. The worst we have shot all year on Collins home court=loss by 8. We can make excuses also.
  11. Wow people accuse me of being a homer on here. Tommy2tone--that was absolutely the worst Spencer has looked all year without a doubt. We missed at least 15 close in easy shots. Quit making excuses. What was ridiculous was how the Collins coaching staff and fans acted like Spencer County was playing dirty when one kid sprained his ankle and another kid got a head injury in the 4th quarter when a knee made contact on his jaw during a 50/50 ball. I was sitting five feet from the play. Both players were going for a ball and the Spencer County players knee hit him in the jaw. The Spencer County kid jumped up and tried to help the kid up. Just watched the film. Gather was yelling at the refs when the other kid sprained his ankle. How do you deliberately sprain a kids ankle? What happened was they weren't expecting a Spencer County team to come in there and give them a fight. Looking forward to the district tournament.
  12. That's weird. People are telling me that he had the flu. Maybe they are just making excuses. LOL
  13. Heard that South Oldham's best player sat out (Griffen) with the flu. If that's true--South Oldham almost beat Oldham under those circumstances. That tells me South Oldham when healthy is the team to beat.
  14. Heard that South Oldham played without their best player Griffen with the flu? Is that true?
  15. At this point I would say they are the favorite and probably the second best team in the region behind South Oldham. South Oldham lost tonight but their best player sat out with the flu.
  16. Anderson County, Shelby County, Collins, and Spencer County. They all dislike each other. Should be fun to watch.
  17. Spencer lost by 8 points to Collins at Collins High School.
  18. Watched Shelby against Carroll County two weeks ago. They were horrible and actually lost. I don't think Anderson has anything to worry about.
  19. Big VMan23--I remember you from this summer. I think you might have been a little too close to Anderson's program with some of the "predictions" you were making to be unbiased. I won't post some of the things you were posting about Anderson County. If you look back at what I said about Spencer County in the summer some of it has actually happened. I remember I said that Spencer County was probably a year away from being dangerous, but it has happened a little sooner. They are very dangerous. By no means do I think they are a regional threat this year, but on a given night they can beat just about anyone as the last South Oldham score shows. People "chuckled" when I made some comments this summer. All I know is that when you throw talent in with a VERY good coach things are going to start to happen. I've noticed on this board that if you say anything positive about your team people start shooting it down quickly. I understand that you have to earn the respect-- especially when Spencer County has never had any kind of history of winning. I think the people on here that actually watch games know what is going on and have a good idea that Spencer County is just starting a huge upswing for their program. This young team will get beat down some nights, but at the end of the season I wouldn't want to play them. Anyway, I respect all opinions on here. Go Bears!
  20. Spencer County and Collins play tonight at Collins. Collins is heavily favored so it should be a good measuring stick for Spencer County. This young team should learn alot.
  21. Oldham county education is the measuring stick. No disagreement there!
  22. The transfer from Shelby County is in 8th grade so he attends Spencer County Middle School. Spencer County Middle School has a rating of 75.3 which is Distinguished. If he had stayed at Shelby East Middle School he would have been attending a school with a rating of 54.6 Needs Improvement. Huge difference in the education he is getting this year. I talk to his mother on a daily basis and she is blown away by the difference. As far as districts go. Spencer County scores a 72.9 Distinguished and Shelby County scores a 64.4 Needs Improvement. This year especially the child is getting way more. The past two years Spencer County High School has outperformed Shelby County High School (not by much this year, a little more the year before). When you figure in the vast difference in the coaching--no brainer. In my original post I didn't mention the high school performance anyway.
  23. That was only part of the decision. Conley's link to Spencer was that one of his best friends--Jake Whitlock who played on his AAU team (Go Hard In The Paint) attends Spencer County. Conley's mom and Whitlock's dad had been discussing them playing together in high school for several years. Academically it was a no brainer. It has worked out well for Sam in just about every aspect of his life. Happy for the kid!
