On my previous post I will go ahead and apologize for that remark. Just very frustrated right now as a Bracken County fan. I know what it is like to lose in a district finals when you haven't won in a long time. Bracken County has won 3 district championships in 30 years (1987, 1989, 1999) and last night they had their best chance in 18 years to win a championship for this community and make them be proud of these kids (even though they still are). And to see a kid not play his senior year, and who has played with these kids his entire life, who would have helped so much this year is just frustrating. He was the best multiple sport athlete in Bracken County since Sarah Sticklen. He could have got a scholarship for basketball, baseball, cross-country, and track; but in his best interest has decided to focus on running only.

I think that those 5 players are better than him as of right now. No disrespect to Mr. Allen but I have seen each player multiple times and that is who I am going with. You can respectfully disagree. -

Of the games I have been too: Pendleton/Brossart - 2005 District at Bracken County Mason/Augusta - 2014 at Bracken County Mason/Augusta - 2016 at Bracken County Mason/Clark - 2010 Regional Championship at Mason County's home gym, -
I saw that it was mentioned above that Hinson's resume was based off two wins and I am just going to have to disagree with that. He is the only coach in Saint Pat history with a winning record. After he was coaching Augusta and upset Mason County twice he still had to beat a decent Bracken County team after that. And they still beat Brossart in the Class A with out Brent Bach. I've always said if I had to rank coaches in the region it would be 1. Code, 2. Biggs, 3. Cook, 4. Hinson. It's true that players can have off or bad nights, but can't coaches be the same way?

If you're a Bracken County fan this is a tough pill to swallow. Brady Jones and Cooper may have played the worst game in their career and that's all credit to Mason's bigs. Austin Crawford had 45 tonight but the most heart-breaking part of the game was him missing the game tying 3 that would have sent it into over-time. Also sad to see that this great group of kids and talent will never get to enjoy the experience the joy of cutting down the nets in their careers. However the still have one more shot at an unlikely, but still possible regional championship (trying to stay positive). On the technical note yes it affected the game but it's not what lost Bracken the game. Even though Mason County could have got T for some stuff. But the refs let them play tonight and I think that worked to Bracken's disadvantage. It made the game move faster which is Mason County's style. And it's easier to speed a game up than it is to slow it down. On the note of Hinson losing this game doesn't make him a bad coach. The players missed A LOT of inside shots tonight. I've said all along that Buddy Biggs is a great coach and so is Hinson. Bracken lost by 5 just like they did last year, only this time it was at the Fieldhouse which showed no mercy on the Polar Bears tonight. I'll look forward to the region draw Saturday and in hope of a winnable game in the region to help ease the pain of the loss. And just maybe, the district runner-up can make it to the regional finals.
