As for William Wesley and Cousins...has nothing to do with being his business partner or agent. WWW got Cousins to sign with UK and is close to him. So are most of the players from the past three years. That does not mean they have to use WWW as their agent for the NBA. Your documentation is a four-year-old story. What about the past two or three years? Not that I care, but I think your defensive stance lets everyone know my points are valid: it's all a big charade calling them "student-athletes" at the one and done schools. Same with Duke. Same with IU. Certainly the same at U of L. It's a big business, and that is what I dislike about it. Let these HS seniors go straight to the NBA and a lot of this discussion would end.

I am actually a UK fan from way back. I just do not like the way college sports have become a cesspool. If you don't know about William Wesley's influence on Cousins and UK, no need to explain it. I think it is great Cousins does speak at schools, though he is not the type of role model I would want for smaller kids. See his anger problems in the NBA and even when he was with Coach Cal. Do I think all players should be from Kentucky? No, but it would be nice if many were from this commonwealth. I get the feeling you are a winners-only-matter mentality. I am not. We can disagree and not become disagreeable. Still waiting for your documentation, as you stated, for the classes they attend in the spring. My post there was about all players more than UK, but you said it is documented.

For those not aware, William Wesley is AKA "World Wide Wes" and he is Coach Cal's right-hand man in most recruiting yards. I would think most UK fans already know, but just in case. Back in the day, Joe B. Hall had Seth Hancock helping out, but nothing like World Wide Wes.

Why does Cousins come back? Let me give you a name: William Wesley. Same with most of the others you mention. As far as liking things 40 years ago, yes, I admit to that. The world is such a great place today, right? HAHA

They come back because of Coach Cal, not UK. I am connected enough to know this is a fact. I could also include a laundry list of ex-players who NEVER come near Lexington, but I will avoid that discussion.

I agree with you totally. Chris Lofton was supposedly not good enough for UK, but look what he did at UT. Derek Willis another great example. Remember Reggie Hanson years ago? How about Deron Feldhous and John Pelphrey? UK did not want them at first, and now they are known as the "Unforgettables."

I will go on record right now and say Carson Williams presence at NKU next season will immediately reap benefits in attendance as the entire population of Owen County will be at most of his games, if they do not play the same nights as Owen County. Mason Faulkner is also a great steal for NKU. Without knowing much about their team, I think those two freshmen will have a great chance to start next season, and the fans will love watching them for four years.

You are correct. I believe the public is becoming disillusioned by the obvious myth of "student-athletes" and the corporate types making it way too commercial. You can't even watch a college basketball or football game these days without four talking heads telling us everything we already know. And the commercials TV timeouts...hard to stomach all the stoppages in play. I was a GA at Portland State in the late 1970s and we had entire games with no stoppages of play whatsoever unless a coach called a timeout. The games had a much better flow and were enjoyable to watch. We never had a 2 hour game unless there was overtime. Now every game goes more than 2 hours. No wonder people have quit watching and attending college sports.

BTW: I am 6-8, or at least before my back began curving due to old age several years ago. I haven't been 5-7 since I was about in the second grade.

You said every Division I has 6-9 post players. You do understand that Lebron and Jordan are guards or wing-type players?

I was not aware of that with Joe B. Hall. Thank you for the information! You have provided yet another example of why coaches at big schools many times completely overlook good players. Larry Bird was not fast or quick in high school. In fact, he wasn't fast or quick in college or the NBA either! He knew how to play the game, could shoot, and was very intense.

I am with you. I believe Carson will honor his commitment to NKU for four years unless there is a coaching change again. There was a coaching change last year, and I think Carson is comfortable with the current coach. I know he expects to either start or see extensive playing time next year, so he will have four years to show everyone in college his talents. But let's not jump the gun. Carson still has lots of games left for Owen County!

Lots of bitterness in this post. Looking at the bios of the UK players, NONE of them averaged 40 or 50 points per game in high school. You are so very wrong about "everybody is 6-9 or better" in Division I. There are many outstanding 6-6, 6-7 types playing the post in Division I each year. You ever hear of Charles Barkley? He was only 6-5 and dominated the post at Auburn. You ever hear of Corliss Williamson? Maybe 6-6 and a beast inside at Arkansas. Paul Millsap at La. Tech, he was 6-6 1/2 and led the nation in rebounding and is an NBA all-star. Larry Johnson at UNLV was 6-6 and a dominate force who led his team to the national title. Please rethink your post.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But attendance in college basketball is way down, ratings are not good, and I believe the one and dones have contributed to this demise.

He is correct about the shoving. Briscoe is bordering on the Skal-bust zone right now. When UK fans are howling like they are for him to leave town, OUCH!

I would put Williams against any of those players mentioned as well. I agree with you totally. These recruiting "experts" are the same people who told us the Harrison twins were great players! HAHA

My hands aren't in their pockets, glad to say. I think I can guess the value they place on education. Would love to see how many actually go to a class once the semester breaks occur and they are eligible for the spring.

Why the wait if it's out there? Maybe UC can use it to market for their dwindling attendance in the American (?) East Conference or whatever? LOL. I did not mean you were hyping Skal, but many others were. The gentlemen you refer to are the talking points of my thread: Do you want these one and done mercenaries who could care less about the school and education, or solid four-year players who care about school and the state they represent? I vote No. 2.

...and the decline of modern-day education in this great country. Know it will never happen again, but the NBA really needs to allow these gentlemen to go straight from high school to the NBA. Stop wasting our educational resources when they have zero interest in education, please!

Noted and agreed. They are certainly not becoming beloved by the UK fans you hear on the radio talk shows, so you might be right.
