  1. The fact that CovCath makes number 35 after having the majority of their success in the past 4 years really does make me wonder where South Oldham might end up, if at all.
  2. The easiest way to beat a big team is to hit a lot of 3's. Which South Oldham excels at.
  3. I'd say Shelby Co. is looking to avenge their Semi State loss to South Warren in 2015. Yes, they lose key seniors in Manica, Perry, Osorto and the Janes twins, but they return QB Tyler Drane, RB Brandon Davis, C Hayden Tedford and K Josh Edwards. Let us also not forget that the Rockets experienced even more significant roster turnover in the offseason between 2014-15 and still ended up brilliantly defying all expectations. These kids are determined, the coaching staff is experienced, and team chemistry is high as ever. If they get lucky in the bracket, they just might be able to make it past Semi-State for the first time in 23 years.
  4. I don't know if Louisville area school has had any 3 recently, but I know Shelby County had Norris Beckley in 1976, '77 and '78 and his son Boomer (Norris Jr.) in 2006 and '10.
  5. I say Mr. Basketball at this time is a 3 horse race between Faulkner, Goodin and Williams.
  6. Bold Statement: Whomever wins the 8th Region (Owen, Oldham, South or even Shelby) has a legitimate chance to make the Final Four this year.
  7. I'm not sure, let me pull a name out of my hat here... Maybe, just maybe Carson Williams?
  8. Ah. I see. I remember thinking that JC had a pretty sizeable enrollment for a 4A school...
  9. As a Shelby County fan, I was devastated at the damage the mighty South Warren Spartans inflicted on my team in the State Semi-Finals. It was certainly a bitter end to a storybook season for the Rockets, who had their best statistical season not only since the new Collins High School was built in 2010, but since their last regional title in 1993. So I propose a way to give losing teams a second chance- a third place game. I would have loved to see Shelby County and Wayne County duke it out for the bronze trophy. In addition, this helps appease statisticians- if only slightly. What do you guys think?
  10. Really? I could have swore in theguru's post that JC moved up as well... regardless, since this past season's teams from both schools suffered the exact same result vs SW, I'd say that assuming roster turnover is as prelevant for the Eagles as it is for the Rockets, these two teams could be early favorites next season along with Hoptown and *Maybe* Scott.
  11. Call me crazy but.. I think the loss of SW and JC opens the door for Shelby County to make more unexpected runs in the playoffs. Let's look at the facts: In 2014, the Rockets went 3-8. A large amount of their impact players (Including HB and QB) were seniors that ended their careers after a blowout loss to Iroqouis in the first round of the postseason.A coaching change in the offseason leads to a 13-2 record en route to their first regional crown since 1993. I think this could be a scary team in the future with this veteran coaching staff.
  12. Manica led all scorers with 16. Freshman T.J. Robinson with an impressive showing as well with a season high 9 and 4.
  13. Just came home from Shelby Co. vs. Collins. Each of those things happened at least 5 times per team.
  14. I certainly hope the new high school opening in Scott County doesn't split up these underclassmen. If they stick together, and Hicks sticks around 3 more years, I think he should bring one final title back to Georgetown.
  15. I have officially given up on Taylor County. If you took Sloan and Goodin off the team, they would likely be winless.
  16. People like you are why I have this site in my Chrome bookmarks.
  17. Also, looking out for development of freshman forward Robinson. He looked somewhat nervous against Collins but seeing him play at the middle school level certainly gives me confidence in his ability to be a game changer as the season progresses.
  18. I think if they can still have the aggressive football mentality (especially big guy Edwards and Athletic Manica) without getting into foul trouble, they could dominate their smaller/less athletic 30th District foes. If they can win against SK, I believe that would get everyone's attention. I've said it before and I'll say it again: I believe this is the year the Rockets finally emerge from Collins' shadow.
  19. Jordan Armstrong led the Rockets with an 18-point, 10-rebound performance per Shelbyville Sentinel-News. Other states are not available yet.
  20. I wish I had the self discipline and patience to do one of these for Basketball. :lol2:
  21. Absolutely disgusted to hear about this, especially after what happened to Gabbi Doolin in Scottsville last month. As a Kentuckian I feel ashamed that two beautiful children had their lives taken much too soon. Prayers out to Versailles and the Tipton Family. Full Story below. VERSAILLES, Ky. (WKYT) - Police say an Indianapolis man broke into a family's Versailles home early Monday, wandered up the stairs and stabbed a sleeping 6-year-old boy to death. The Woodford County Coroner has identified the victim as Logan Tipton, a kindergartner at Simmons Elementary. The accused killer has been identified as Ronald Exantus, 32, of Indianapolis. Exantus is charged with murder and burglary. He appeared appeared before a Woodford County judge Monday afternoon for an arraignment. Court documents provide more details into the killing, but it is still unclear why Logan's home was targeted. His family said they did not know Exantus, who listed on a police report that he lives in Indianapolis, which is roughly 175 miles north. A Woodford County prosecutor said Exantus, who was escorted into the courtroom by nine deputies, will likely face other charges, including assault, because he attacked two other kids in the home. The attack was eventually broken up by their father, according to police. A public defender representing Exantus said she feels certain "he's mentally ill." Police were called about the attack just before 4 a.m. Monday. The Versailles Police Department received a call about a burglary in progress at a home on Douglas Avenue. Police say the homeowner called 911 after discovering an armed man inside the home. According to court documents, Exantus entered the home and "proceeded to walk around the residence." While inside the home, a police report says, Exantus went to an upstairs bedroom where Logan was sleeping in his bed. Exantus "with a large kitchen knife that he obtained in the house" stabbed the boy several times in the head. Logan’s aunt says four other children were sleeping in the bedroom. The family told WKYT that Logan’s 11-year-old sister is a hero. When she woke up, she saw someone in the bedroom and threw herself at them. She started screaming for their father, their aunt said. Police say the boy's father rushed to the room and managed to detain Exantus until police arrived. The police report says Exantus, during an interview with detectives, confessed to stabbing the boy. A CBS affiliate in Indiana says Exantus did not have a criminal record in Indianapolis. If Exantus has a Kentucky connection, it was not immediately clear. A Facebook page for Ronald Exantus says he lives in Noblesville, Indiana, where he was a Dialysis RN at Fresenius Medical Care. Jon Stone, a corporate spokesman for Fresenius Medical Care North America, told WKYT that Exantus "has been released from employment with the company." Stone said Exantus worked with the company's acute dialysis program in Northeast Indiana. Exantus' Facebook page says he is from Coral Springs, Florida. A search of Broward County court records did not reflect any previous criminal history for a Ronald Exantus. The Facebook page says he studied at Med Tech College in Indianapolis. Records with Indiana licensing shows a Ronald Exantus who was issued a license in July 2013. The licenses, which is scheduled to expire in October 2017, is listed as active. Logan's death has jarred the community of Versailles, a city that has a population of 9,054, according to U.S. census data. Neighbors who saw Logan playing outside the house returned to the same question: Why? The police report says it is "unknown" whether alcohol or drugs were a factor. "It's just a horrible thing, makes you wonder why this would happen to this little boy. It's just so sad," said neighbor Tiffany Crow. Hundreds of people have already donated thousands of dollars through a GoFundMe webpage for Logan’s funeral expenses. Donations for funeral expenses can also be made out to the Tipton family at Kentucky Bank. The family says they cannot live in the home after what happened. They say generous people in the community have opened their homes so they have temporary places to stay.
  22. Chicago doesn't have a police problem. It has a residents of Chicago problem.
  23. Deeply saddened by this news. Thoughts, prayers and condolences sent from Shelbyville.
