  1. Very few kids will clean more than 315. So 315 as max on a clean, still leaves you with 885 to get between a squat and bench to reach 1200. A 500lb squat & a 385lb bench to get the 885? 1200 would be pretty elite I don't think most programs would have a kid that could do that.
  2. I think that's too high. Henderson Co. recognizes a 800 pound club which most years is probably around 15-20 kids, and a 1000 lb club that's usually about 5 kids or so. I'd say 1000lb's is a good mark.
  3. Final. Great game. 49 points by Bo Robison, who broke the floor record at Union Co. previously held by Calbert Cheaney.
  4. Not sure about a departure, I haven't heard anything. I have always been under the impression that if school is cancelled due to weather then there are no games. Henderson cancelled school due to weather, Webster was already off school today due to Presidents' Day. So it appears to me not playing was more a result of the school cancellation at Henderson County.
  5. Per Kevin Patton of the Henderson Gleaner, tonight's game of Henderson @ Webster has been cancelled due to snow, and will not be made up. Giving Webster Co. it's first regular season district championship in forever. Congrats Trojans.
  6. Bo Robinson from Union County has had a outstanding season (23.2 points per game). He won't win the award because his team isn't very good, but just another name to throw out there.
  7. Il agree to that. I just believe certain schemes are more easy for teams with certain talent. Will was pretty much your ideal Franklin system QB, great height, cannon arm, good accuracy. I just don't think he would of be AS successful in the veer, he wasn't a run the ball 15 times a game QB. Only point I was trying to make.
  8. I honestly don't care what offense HC runs as long as they win games. Clevenger ran the veer and was successful, Duffer ran the Franklin system and spread the field. You do have to be mindful and cater your offense to your players. No way Clevenger would have been successful running the Franklin system, passing 30 times a game because he didn't have Will Fidler at QB or a Chris Lamar at WR. Henderson flip flopped offenses last year switching from the spread to the power I and truth be told neither one was very successful. It was a coaching (Morris included)'and player problem not a offensive scheme problem. **PS** Iam4thecats I sincerely apologize if somewhere in my post I didn't use the word "spread" in a fashion to your liking. Please do not rant for 2 pages about what it means and does not mean. Thanks.
  9. Plausible but, he was a assistant at Webster before going to McLean so I can assume admin. knew what subject/ classes he taught ahead of time. Then called him in for a interview and didn't hire him. In all likelihood I believe if not having a teaching spot for him was the reason, they would have never called him in for a interview in the first place.
  10. Im just asking this out of curiousity. A lot of people on here believe Coach Morris would be successful as a head coach at Henderson, and that's fine I respect people's opinion. I just wonder if anybody has a view point on why a school like Webster Co. who over the past 5 seasons is 5-48, wouldn't jump at the chance to hire him as head coach. He did apply their and ultimately didn't get the job. Just seems to raise a little curiosity to me that someone who is a potential candidate at one of the better football jobs in the state got told no by a bottom of the barrel program like Webster.
  11. If people believe Josh Boston isnt't the best candidate due to lack of expirence (1 yr as HC 7-4). How can the same people justify the hiring of someone with the same lack of expirence but way worse results (1 yr as HC 0-10). I also don't understand or comprehend the notion that success or lack thereof as a assistant coach isn't a indicator of your potential as a head coach. I've never seen at any level of football a assistant coach get promoted to head coach without being successful in their current position.
  12. And that's all fine and great. Like I said. I don't personally know him so I have no grudge against him. I'm just curious what's he's accomplished to deserve a promotion to head coach. That's not basing it off his 1 year at McLean. That's off 5 seasons and 3 different teams, all 5 seasons the teams had losing records. The offense at Henderson last year was BAD. Maybe he will get another chance somewhere, I just hope it isn't at Henderson Co.
  13. I didn't see a single thing in that game that made me think Henderson was the best team in the district. Really they got dominated most of the game. It was 13 points on the scoreboard but felt like more of a blow out. Henderson tried to play man, like in a earlier post I said they would. And they couldn't match up. In a earlier post I also said you couldn't compare margins of wins to determine who beats who, that also held true. Webster won in all aspects. Henderson knocked down some late 3's to keep it respectful but other than that it was domination. They also thoroughly got out coached. I'm starting to wonder how much longer it's going to be before the admin at Henderson starts to regret hiring Smithart and not Jon Newton when Starnes got the boot.
  14. I try my hardest not to bash anyone. I don't know the man on a personal level BUT I would be very surprised if Morris gets any kind of consideration. He was the top assistant at Webster for I believe 2 years, they won one game each season. Then got the McLean Co. head job and went 0-10. Came to Henderson as O'cordinator and the wins and offensive production dropped every year from the previous year. He applied for and didn't get the Webster Co. coaching job this season... Do you really think Henderson Co. is going to hire a head coach that even Webster Co. didn't want?
  15. Henderson's current o coordinator? Coach Morris? Your joking right?
  16. Well after that drubbing Webster just put on Henderson on the road. I was just curious if y'all had any changes of heart when it came to who the best team in the 6th is? So much for comparing McClean Co. scores to determine the best team. It wasn't even as close as the scoreboard showed.
  17. I'm not sure that this deserves any response considering your very first post on this entire site was to get on here and bash someone. It's quite evident you have a ax to grind. I'm not going to delve to deep into this but you've certainly not been around him or the program very much if your questioning wether the staff & players respect him or his coaching knowledge.
  18. You act as if Union Co. is Mayfield or something. I could understand this argument if you were comparing the Henderson Co. job to that of a smaller school that had a history of high level football success, but I don't think Union Co. would fit that criteria. In no way, shape, or form is Union Co. a more desirable job than Henderson County. I'm not saying Boston will be interested in the job. Maybe he felt like he got burned by Henderson County the first go around and holds resentment towards them, that's possible. But I believe if you asked which job is more desirable to any other coach in the state you'd get Henderson Co. hands down.
  19. Other than not having head coaching experience I didn't hear of any other reasons that he didn't get the job. I don't believe that will be as big of a deal this go around for a few reasons. 1. He has head coaching experience albeit it's just one year but it's better than none. 2. I highly doubt their will be as many candidates for him to compete with for the job. Last go around I believe their were 48 applicants for the job because they were coming off I believe a 10 win season. Back to back loosing seasons should mean less people wanting it. 3. (Biggest reason) This is just speculation but I believe the thinking or the rationale behind hiring someone with the past success of Tony Lewis went something like this. "Well we've had tons of success here at football with some very inexperienced head coaches. I bet if we hire someone with credentials, success, and a state title then that'll get us over the hump and we'll be playing for state titles." Obviously that wasn't the case and I believe it may have been a lesson to the current administration that past success and experience isn't always a great indicator of what's to come. I just can't imagine experience being a huge determining factor in hiring a coach this time around when their least (by far) successful coach out of the past 3 was (by far) the most experienced.
  20. Well Boston in his first year of head coaching at Union Co. sure did accomplish more than Tony Lewis in his 13th & 14th career seasons head coaching. I really think y'all over exaggerate the importance of expirence. Is it nice to have? Sure. But if you can coach you can coach. Clevenger was successful here and it was his first head coaching job & lets not forget Duffer, think what you want about the man but Henderson Co. was his first head coaching gig and he had some outstanding teams. The problem that is constantly brought up about Henderson is that they don't get their best athletes to come out for football. If anyone can do that at Henderson it is without a doubt coach Boston. He's young the players can relate to him. He was the top assistant here for 5 or so years. He had a very successful season last year at Union. He's from and played football at Henderson County, you wouldn't have to worry about him skipping town every time a job opened somewhere. In my opinion if he wants the job, he's a can't miss candidate.
  21. The old size of school debate. It's been used for decades to insinuate Henderson Co. underachieves because of the size of the school. But in reality the schools that you say Henderson Co. should be on top of because of their size are all relatively close to the same size school as Henderson. Henderson Co enrollment is 1,972. McCracken Co. 1910. Central Hardin 1863. I'd like for Henderson to win the region as much as anyone, but their probably never going to achieve it based solely on the MASSIVE 62 kid enrollment difference between them and McCracken.
  22. I don't quite buy the rebuild theory. 07-08 team was 2-9. 08-09 team was 7-4. You get the right coach in their and it don't take along time to turn things around.
  23. I would be very surprised if they don't go after Josh Boston the HC at Union Co. Most felt he should have gotten the job originally. Former Henderson Co. D coordinator and Henderson Co. Alum. Young coach with a very bright future. I'd be shocked.
  24. I believe a UA all American team would beat some of the worst D3 schools. 18 vs 22 wouldn't make a huge difference in my opinion. It's hard for me to believe that the All American players are getting that much better from the time they play in that game untill the start of their true freshman college season. And theirs been a lot of really good true freshman players this year. I'll take a all american highschool team of Josh Rosen, Myles Gaskin, and Calvin Ridley all dominant true freshman vs a 0-10 D3 Trinity Bible Study team any day of the week.
  25. Thanks for the feedback Ram. I'm right there with you. I've been powerlifting ever since I graduated & im a true believer in the deadlift. It's just like any lift, good technique prevents injuries. I wish more coaches implemented the lift, I believe it translates well to the football field.
