Any update on eastern KY bowl games in Week 0? Both for Friday or Saturday. Curious what the lineup and schedule for the Death Valley Bowl that I can't find online.

In Pennsylvania, the PIAA went to the Rawlings balls for the playoffs (you could use them in regular season or Wilson). Coaches have hated it. Players complained. And when they get wet, the ones the PIAA uses (not sure if exactly the same) the red dye bleeds off and stains jerseys. Looks like a bloodbath sometimes as it's a vibrant rusty red color.

Well, 4 games in Kentucky this weekend. Two games at the Death Valley Bowl in Stanford and then two games at the Rec Bowl in Mt. Sterling. Here's calpreps predictions: (predicted) / Actual result (Henry County, 22-21) / Henry County 28-21 Correct, -6 on margin, -6 on total points (Bullitt Central, 31-26) / Bullitt Central 35-27 Correct, -3 on margin, -6 on total points (Frankfort, 35-20) / Paris 21-12 Incorrect, 24 off on margin, 24 off on total points (Collins, 34-28) / Collins 7-0 Correct, -1 on margin, 55 off on total points All in, 75% average for calpreps, getting the margin close on the three correct picks, and general score close to right on two of the correct points. And this is without season data making the picks early in the year.

I was told by NewarkCatholicFan tonight that according to the locals, they had planned for a track. Even then, it's a very wide span from bleacher to bleacher. Probably the biggest non-NFL gap I've ever seen.

Madison Southern had the ball going deep, but some bad play calling down near the goal line left them facing a 4th and short just shy of the goal line. QB had no play, tried to scramble, and was tackled as the horn sounded.

I'm still looking, but the Montgomery County Rec Bowl looks like my Saturday night stop. Just a remind on East Jessamine, if you don't get into the press box, you want to get there early to sit/stand in the top row. You will have a hard time seeing the game if you're any further down due to the huge sideline areas.

It's getting close to the opening week of the season and the KHSAA website hasn't posted the 'bowl game' schedule. It's usually about another week away based on years past. However, I'm sure a lot of teams have games figured out. The scoreboard site shows four different doubleheader bowls for 8/22 (Mercer County, Montgomery County, WKU, and Madison Central in Richmond), but in the past there's been more on that Saturday. I'm mostly interested if there will be a 'Bluejacket Bowl' at Nicholas County this year on Saturday. Otherwise, I'll probably be up at the Montgomery County Rec Bowl or maybe down in Richmond at Madison Central.

For another Ohio guy from near the PA border, I've seen 33 different KY high school teams play. I've seen 668 teams total throughout the country.

I'm seeing a Thursday night game in Tennessee, and then the Friday PBK Death Valley Bowl in Stanford, KY. I was thinking of the Don Marshall Bowl in Somerset, but decided against it. For Saturday, right now, I'm figuring on the Montgomery County Rec Bowl, but if the Bluejacket Bowl gets played this year, I might go up there to Nicholas County. I went to two of the visitnich.com Bowls, one at West Jessamine and the other at East Jessamine. Neither stadium is great, or good, really, but East Jessamine's field is forever and a day away from the stands. Top row is about the best row for viewing the field as just how far you are from the field, you need the best 'top down' view you can get. Even then it's not the best. Games were so-so each year. But, there's a reason I haven't been back to either venue just yet. For week 1, I'm sticking to Ohio. Bypassing the Crosstown Showdown as well, as the two doubleheaders at Nippert just aren't that interesting.
