No. Not efficient that game. Foul trouble. On the bench most of the game. Part of the reason Greenup had a chance to win. It merely proves what a valuable player he is. If he's not in foul trouble, Morgan wins easily. But, as it was, it was a nail biter. The whole team is better when he's on the floor. Doing all the little things necessary to make a team function well. He matured as the season went on. Learned better defensive techniques and didn't have as many foul issues. That was around 1/1/15 if I'm not mistaken.

I apologize. I don't remember Greenup playing defense. So none of those shots came from Hughes' area of the zone? He wasn't ever beaten off the dribble? Or shot over?

You think you know what Morgan Co's game plan was? Really??? You are the one with no clue. Perry and Redparth combined for 47 first game and 44 second game. If Hughes guards the others team best player by your own statement he was obviously guarding one of those two. So looks like he got quite a few points rammed down his throat as well.

Who determines regular season regional team? I've never seen that? I've seen ADI all area team, was Hughes on that? I know this is Hughes' second sport. Not relevant to this discussion. I know nothing about 16th region baseball. Prater often guarded other teams best guard. Sometimes Perry. Sometimes Redparth. Every team was different. I'm not sure if other teams game plan for Prater. I do know that Morgan didn't game plan for Hughes. Did just fine both times. I don't understand. You don't think Hughes is in top 5 freshman in region? The only game I can find head to head stats for Hughes and Prater is the Dec 30 game. Hughes had 17 Pts. 35FG% 0 Rebs. Prater had 13pts 100Fg% 1 reb. Hughes outscored. Prater was more efficient. And as I said. A lot of qualities can't be quantified. #1- we have no idea on assists, steals, turnovers. Greenup doesn't even have FG% FT% listed for their players #2-intangibles aren't statted, dives for loose balls, guts, grit, confidence, leadership, how effective a defender the player is #3-potential for growth We aren't going to agree on this. Let it go.

I agree with that statement. If I were choosing on the playground between the two, I'd take Prater.

6'0" 185-190 (me guessing of course, it's hard to gauge, he's solid as a rock). He played multiple sports until a couple years ago he decided to focus on basketball. As for why he doesn't play AAU, I don't know. That's for a kid and his family to decide. It doesn't distract from his abilities. He is a honor student who loves the outdoors. Maybe he doesn't want to. I don't blame him for not playing other sports in Morgan Co. Football team is so undersized injury is highly likely. And as I'm sure you know our baseball team is lackluster

I respectfully disagree. I saw Hughes play at least 5 times. He can shoot the lights out, that's obvious, but IMO Prater is a more rounded player. Overall the better freshman. I don't recall seeing Hughes on the Regional tourney team (was he maybe just honorable Mention?) Prater was on the regional tourney team. Prater was All-District as well, and I believe most said 62nd was the best district in the region this year. Two teams made regional final. First time in a long time that had happened. I don't have a lot of faith personally in ranking sites. I've seen so many AAU kids ranked high. And when I've seen them play they're disappointing. As for your all state freshman team, without knowing where that came from I can't comment on its validity. There are dozens of all state teams put out by various newspapers, scouting services, etc. A lot of that is just daddy calling a cronie and asking for little Johnny to be placed on it. Hughes can play. Top five freshman in the region without a doubt. And probably has the best kicks east of Lexington.

Player rankings don't always matter. Steph Curry was unranked as a HS senior. Prater doesn't play AAU ball. Rankings posted online usually incorporate a lot of AAU exposure and publicity, along with camp exposure. Being unranked or unknown does not in anyway diminish Prater's abilities or potential. People's idea of athletic differs. It's not how many sports you play. He's about 6' right now. Still growing. Being strong, helps immensely in all positions on the court. Don't even argue about that one.

Redparth was one of the top players in the region. A player who could play all over the court. He won multiple awards last season. All-A honors, district and regional tournament team honors, an award from EKC that I can't recall right now. He was talked about. He has a bright future. Great kid.

Well, there is the point thing. You've said more than once points don't dictate a players worth, but that's the first stat you brought up in the discussion over Prater.

When we were talking about Perry points weren't the most important? As you said "1 good number" I didn't say Prater was the most prolific scoring Freshman in the region. I do think he the most skilled and athletic one. With the most potential over the next three years. And I know if basketball had powerlifting competitions like football, he would win in the 2018 kids in the region, hands down. Players can't be assessed using only the KHSAA stats. The NBA uses efficiency ratings including turnovers, steals, assists, rebounds, etc and how the team as a whole performs while you are on the floor. When Prater is on the floor the team is more efficient. Fewer turnovers, more steals, more points by everyone. As I said, his overall game is the best of any freshman. And he is a Man-child- strong as an ox.
