1. Ohio County Eagles (10-1) SAME The Eagles swept all 3 games in their own tournament this weekend. They knocked off Todd County, Edmonson County and Henderson County to win the Dany Anis Classic. Tripp Manning again led the Eagles with 18 points in the title game against Henderson. The Eagles have 1 game against Louisville Atherton this week. 2. Breckenridge County Tigers (7-2) UP 1 The Tigers have split a pair of games down in Daytona this weekend. They dropped their opening contest to Ridge View, SC before bouncing back with a win against Prestonburg. They close play in Daytona on Monday against Fairdale before returning to Kentucky with a game at Grayson County. 3. Owensboro Red Devils (8-5) DOWN 1 The Devils struggled a bit this weekend down in the Bowling Green Holiday Tournament. They dropped close games to South Warren and Franklin Simpson before bouncing back to get a win over North Hardin. The Devils have a 9th District game Friday against Apollo before traveling to Central Hardin to take on E-Town. 4. Butler County Bears (8-0) SAME The Bears were off this week and remain the region's only unbeaten team. They travel to Boyle County Monday and Metcalfe County on Friday. 5. Owensboro Catholic Aces (6-5) SAME The Aces dropped their first 2 games in Logan County this weekend to Louisville Collegiate and Hoptown before ending their 3 game losing streak with a win over district foe Daviess County. The Aces have a game against Mclean County before entering All-A tournament action next weekend. 6. Muhlenberg County Mustangs (5-7) SAME The Mustangs are losing games to very good competition but look to be improving from their difficult schedule. Outside of Owensboro, no team in the region has played a tougher schedule. They dropped all 3 games at Lexington Christian this weekend to Lincoln County, Lloyd Memorial and West Jessamine. The Stangs have a lone game against Franklin Simpson this week. 7. Mclean County Cougars (7-3) SAME The Cougars won their only game this week, a blowout against Caverna. THey continue in the Hancock County tournament Monday with a game against Atherton before taking on Owensboro Catholic and heading to All-A tournament play. 8. Grayson County Cougars (4-7) UP 1. Grayson County went 1-2 in Logan County this weekend, dropping contests to Hoptown and Clinton County. They scored their lone win of the tournament over Daviess County. The Cougars have games against Central Hardin and Breckenridge County this week. 9. Daviess County Panthers (5-8) DOWN 1 Daviess County went 0-3 in Logan County this weekend, losing games to Logan County, Grayson County and Owensboro Catholic. The Panthers get no break this week with another tough game against Logan County. 10. Meade County Greenwave (3-5) UP 1 The Waves went 1-0 this week with a good win over Warren East. Senior Mitchell Dozier recorded a double double in the win with 15 points and 11 boards. Meade has games against Bullet Central and Floyd Central, IN this week. 11. Hancock County Hornets (4-6) UP 1 The Hornets have won 3 of 4, recording 2 wins in their own Holiday tournament against Caverna and Allen County Scottsville. Coach Orr has this young Hornets team improving with every game. They open All-A tournament play against Whitesville Trinity this week. 12. Whitesville Trinity Raders (4-8) DOWN 2 The Raiders struggles continued into this week with losses to McCreary Central and Metcalfe County. They were able to end their 4 game win streak with a win over Williamstown. The Raiders have Cloverport and Hancock County this week in the All-A. 13. Edmonson County Wildcats (3-9) SAME The Wildcats were able to end a 6 game losing streak with a win against Todd County Central. They dropped games against Henderson and Ohio County before that win. They head to All-A tournament play this week. 14. Apollo Eagles (0-11) SAME Apollo dropped all 3 games in the Spencer County Indiana Holiday Tournament this week. The Eagles will hunt their first win of the season Monday, as they take on Dawson Springs before they play Owensboro on Friday. 15. Cloverport Aces (1-7) SAME The Aces were off for this holidays this past week. They host Walden this week before heading into All-A Tournament play.

With the Holiday's quickly approaching, this will be an abbreviated review for week 3 around the 3rd Region. Once again this season, it feels like the 3rd Region is lagging behind the state when it comes to top tier teams but it should be a fun race at the top of the region to see who can get to Rupp. The bottom half of the region had an extra rough week this week. Lets get to it.... 1. Ohio County Eagles (7-0) UP 1 Tony Hopper has his Eagles off to a red hot start. They moved to 2-0 in district play on Tuesday with a big win over Muhlenberg. The Eagles also picked up wins over Warren East and Caverna at Warren East over the weekend. Right now, Ohio County is extremely balanced, placing 5 players in double figures. They will host their own Holiday Tournament this week. 2. Owensboro Red Devils (7-3) DOWN 1 The Devils were tested this week against some very tough programs. They were able to put together a big 4th quarter to defeat Christian County on Tuesday. They struggled a bit in the Fern Creek Holiday Tournament with losses to J-Town and Waggener before bouncing back against Valley and Glasgow. Coach Drake continues his tough campaign this week with the Bowling Green Holiday Tournament. 3. Breckenridge County Tigers (6-1) UP 1 The Tigers have reeled off 5 straight wins. With the loss of a very productive senior class, including 3rd Region Player of the Year, Kobe Poole, many expected the Tigers to start slow but that has not been the case. They scored wins over Whitesville and Meade this past week. The Fighting Tigers will head to Daytona Beach for a New Year's Tournament in the sun. 4. Butler County Bears (8-0) UP 2 Calvin Dockery's Bears have been the surprise of the region thus far. They reeled off 4 wins this week over Apollo, Hickman, Todd and Mclean. Parker Rice is off to a great start averaging 21 points and 10 boards per game. The Bears will stay undefeated through the week as they are off for the Holidays. 5. Owensboro Catholic Aces (5-3) SAME The Aces went 2-1 in Butler County with wins over Todd County and Hickman before falling to Murray. Sophomore PG Brian Griffin leads the way for the Aces, with 19 points per game. Catholic heads to Logan County for their holiday tournament this week. 6. Muhlenberg County Mustangs (5-4) DOWN 2 While the Mustangs only went 1-3 last week, they lost a couple very close games out of state teams. They did however, drop a road district game to Ohio County. Muhlenberg's lone win came against Cane Ridge, TN. They travel to the Lexington Christian Holiday Tournament this week. 7. Mclean County Cougars (7-3) SAME The Cougars split 4 games this week, with wins over Hickman and Whitesville and losses to Murray and Butler County in overtime. Logan Patterson leads the Cougars thru the first 10 games of the season with 21 points and 10 boards per. The Cougars head to Hancock County for their Holiday Tournament this week. 8. Daviess County Panthers (5-5) UP 1 Coach Hayden's group continues to show improvement, going 2-2 this past week. They dropped games to Webster and Nelson before bouncing back with wins over Hancock and Hoptown. The Panthers head to the Logan County Christmas Tournament this week. 9. Grayson County Cougars (3-5) DOWN 1 The Cougars dropped 3 games this week to very tough competition in Doss, E-Town and Henderson County. They will look to bounce back this week at Logan County. 10. Whitesville Trinity Raders (3-5) SAME The Raiders struggled this week with 3 consecutive losses to Breckenridge, Western and Crittenden County. They will look to turn things around at the Williamstown Holiday Tournament. 11. Meade County Greenwave (2-5) SAME The Waves started the week with a nice win over Shelby County but dropped games at Breckenridge and Barren County to finish the week. They face Warren East in their lone game this week. 12. Hancock County Hornets (2-6) UP 2 The Hornets battled tough this week with a win over Trigg County. They also dropped a close game to Daviess County and another to Graves County. The Hornets host their own Holiday Tournament this week. 13. Edmonson County Wildcats (2-7) DOWN 1 The Wildcats lost all 3 games at home this week to the likes of Metcalfe, Green County and Thomas Nelson. They will head to the Ohio County Holiday Tournament this week. 14. Apollo Eagles (0-8) DOWN 1 The Eagles were blown out this week at the hands of Logan County and South Warren. They batted Butler County to a close game before falling at home to start the week. They will head across the river to the South Spencer Holiday Tournament this week. 15. Cloverport Aces (1-7) SAME The Aces lost three straight this week to Cannelton, IN, Mclean County and Louisville Western. They are off this week for the holiday break.

1. Owensboro Red Devils (4-1) SAME Owensboro faced some difficult challenges this week with mixed results. They battled a good Warren Central team to a tie heading to the final quarter, but came up short 68-59. On Friday, they bounced back with a big district win over Daviess County before closing the week with a blowout win over a very good Castle, Indiana team. Gavin Wimsatt is the constant for the Devils right now, as he scored 26 vs the Dragons and 22 vs the Knights. The Devils continue their difficult schedule this week as they take on Christian County before heading to the Fern Creek Holiday Tournament with the likes of JTown and Waggener. 2. Ohio County Eagles (4-0) UP 1 The Eagles opened a very nice week with a blowout 30 point win over district rival Mclean County. Trey Lewis led the 3 point barrage with 6 3's to finish with 24 points. The Eagles knocked down 13 3's in the win. Saturday, they came from behind to beat a solid Evansville Central squad. Ohio County showed their versatility, pushing the ball inside to Shane Frady to get the win. Frady finished with 18. Tony Hopper and the Eagles look to keep rolling this week as the host Muhlenberg in a big 10th district showdown before heading to the Warren East Holiday Tournament. 3. Muhlenberg County Mustangs (4-1) UP 1 The Mustangs went 2-0 this week with wins over Hopkins Central and Caldwell County. Trey Lovell led the way against Caldwell with 17 points. Muhlenberg is very balanced early in the season and expect that to continue as they gain experience. The Stangs travel to Ohio County for a huge 10th district showdown on Tuesday before heading to Beech High School for their holiday tournament to head in to Christmas Break. 4. Breckenridge County Tigers (4-1) UP 2 Kaveon Mitchell and the Breck County Tigers are off to a great start. With the senior leadership they lost last year, their transition into this season has been impressive. Tuesday, they knocked off Owensboro Catholic 73-71. Mitchell had 27 while Justin Shrewsberry chipped in 17. Friday, they scored their 2nd district win of the season over Hancock County. They head to Christmas Break this week with home games against Trinity and Meade County. 5. Owensboro Catholic Aces (3-2) DOWN 3 The Aces had a tough week against very good competition. They sandwiched a win over Apollo between 2 tough losses to Breckenridge County and a state powerhouse in John Hardin. Brian Griffith has been impressive early on, scoring 27 against Apollo and 20 in the loss to Breck County. Big man Jai Webb tweaked his ankle against Apollo and was limited. That will be something to monitor going forward. Catholic will look to bounce back this week in the Butler County Christmas Tournament. 6. Butler County Bears (3-0) UP 4 The Bears are starting to turn some heads around the region with their 3-0 start. They opened the week wth a big 57-42 win over Daviess County. Parker Rice scored 20 and Soloman Fleener had a double double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. They followed that up with a 83-66 win over Whitesville Trinity. The Bears placed 4 players in double figures in the win, led by Parker Rice's 17. Butler has a busy week this week against Apollo, Russellville before closing out the week hosting their own Holiday Tournament. 7. Mclean County Cougars (3-1) DOWN 2 Mclean lost its first district test of the season by 30 at the hands of Ohio County. They were able to bounce back with a big 62-44 win over Russellville. The Cougars have 2 games they should win in Dawson Springs and Cloverport before heading to a very challenging Butler County tournament. 8. Grayson County Cougars (3-2) UP 1 The Cougars started the week off with a loss to Nelson County but bounced back in a big way, knocking off Edmonson County on a buzzer beater by Nolan Shartzer. Shartzer put another huge game together and is showing to be one of the best players in the region through the first few weeks. Grayson travels to E-town this week before the Henderson Christmas Tournament this weekend. 9. Daviess County Panthers (3-3) DOWN 2 The Panthers started the season on fire, winning 3 straight but struggled this week by losing 3 straight. Big losses to Butler County and Owensboro were followed up by a hard fought loss to Tell City, Indiana. The varsity inexperience is showing up early, but Coach Hayden will develop this team as the season moves along. The Panthers have Hancock County before heading to the Webster County Holiday Tournament this week. 10. Whitesville Trinity Raiders (3-3) DOWN 2 Trinity split the week by going 1-1. The Raiders were blown out on the road in Butler County but showed nice resolve by bouncing back with a road win over Todd Central. They will be challenged again to open this weeks schedule, as they take on Breckenridge County. They close the week by hosting their own Christmas Tournament at the Horn Center. 11. Meade County Greenwaves (1-3) UP 1 The Waves got themselves in the win column this week with a district win over Cloverport. Canon Decker led the Waves with 16 while Mitchell Dozier scored a double double with 11 points and 12 boards. Meade has games against Shelby County, Breck County and Barren County this week. 12. Edmonson County Wildcats (2-3) UP 1 Edmonson split a pair of games this week, defeating Monroe and losing a heart breaker to Grayson County. Mason Pierce led the Cats with 22 points and 12 boards in the win over Cumberland late last week. As of now, it appears that the Wildcats are without last years leader, Chaz Wilson. Edmonson has Barren County this week before hosting their own Christmas Tournament. 13. Apollo Eagles (0-5) DOWN 2 Apollo struggled again this week, dropping 3 more games. They lost on the road to Henderson on a last second half court 3 to open the week and followed that up by being blown out at the hands of Owensboro Catholic. Saturday, they battled a good Forrest Park Indiana team before falling short. The Eagles look for their first win this week with games against Butler County, Logan County and S Warren. 14. Hancock County Hornets (1-4) SAME Coach Orr and the Hornets scored their first win of the season over Cloverport and followed that up by battling Breck County in a district defeat. The Hornets have tough games this week against Daviess County and Trigg County. 15. Cloverport Aces (1-4) SAME The Aces got their first win of the season on Saturday in overtime against Burgin. Earlier in the week they dropped games to Cannelton and at the Whitesville Trinity Christmas tournament.

1. Owensboro Red Devils (2-0) SAME The Red Devils opened the season short handed against Union County this week and suprised a lot of people with a blowout 30 point win. Tucker Hagan had 24 points while Amari Robinson Wales added 18. The win really showed the depth of this roster. On Saturday, they hung on to beat University Heights. Jaden Greathouse led OHS with 19 and Wales added 16. They will be tested this week with games against Warren Central, Daviess County and Castle, IN. 2. Owensboro Catholic Aces (2-0) SAME Coach Riley and the Aces opened the season with a nice road win against Greenwood, 76-70. The Sophomores Jai Webb and Brian Griffith led the way with 18 each. Friday, they had a big second half to defeat Meade 79-42. Griffith again led the way with 19. Transfer Gray Weaver chipped in 17. Catholic will be tested this week with games against Breckenridge, Apollo and state power John Hardin. 3. Ohio County Eagles (2-0) SAME Ohio County started the season with 2 blowout wins over Meade County (77-48) and Hancock County (64-43). The Eagles shot 29 3's against Meade, as Tripp Manning led the way with 24. Ohio showed their balance later in the week, as they were led in scoring by Grant Tichenor and Shane Frady. Ohio County has shown they can go at least 8 players deep which is even more impressive when you consider Q Jennings is sitting out to heal up from football season. Ohio has a big 10th district game against Mclean on Friday before closing the week against Evansville Central at the Owensboro Sportscenter. 4. Muhlenberg County Mustangs (2-1) SAME The Mustangs opened the season with a nice win over Logan County, 68-57. Nash Divine led the Mustangs with 17 while Trey Lovell had 16. They came back Friday night with an impressive win over Hopkinsville. Divine again lead the team with 19. They closed the week with a loss to JTown, 71-46. The Mustangs look to bounce back this week with games against Hopkins Central and Caldwell County. 5. Mclean County Cougars (2-0) UP 1 Logan Patterson picked up right where he left off last year, leading the Cougars past Hancock County to open the season. Patterson scored 21, which was his season average a year ago. On Friday, he again led the Cougars with 18 in a road win in Grayson County. Mclean opens 10th district play this week against Ohio County on Friday before closing the week against Russellville. 6. Breckenridge County Tigers (2-1) UP 1 The Tigers opened the season with a big win over Edmonson County. Kaveon Mitchell made a big statement with 28 points. While the Tigers dropped a tough game against LaRue Thursday, they came right back with a big district win over Cloverport, 72-32. Mitchell again led the way with 16 while Kason Morris added 16 as well. Breck takes on Owensboro Catholic and Hancock County this week. 7. Daviess County Panthers (3-0) UP 2 No team in the region surprised as much this week, as the Daviess County Panthers. They opened the season fending off upset minded Whitesville Trinity, 60-58. Cameron Johnson led the Panthers with 13 points and 8 boards. Friday, they scored a 58-54 win on the road at Warren East. Logan Hillard led DC with 18. They closed the week with a 65-53 win over Trigg County. Coach Neil Hayden always gets the most out of his roster and that is showing thru the first week of the season. The Panthers will be tested this week with games against Butler County, Owensboro and Tell City, IN. 8. Whitesville Trinity Raiders (2-2) UP 6 The Raiders make the biggest jump in the poll after 1 week of play. They opened the season with a big win over Cloverport on Monday. They followed that up by battling Daviess County and Henderson to the final seconds on the road, losing both by less than 5 points. The Raiders were able to bounce back with a blowout win over Apollo on Saturday. Coach West has a deep group of players contributing early. Guys like Kevin Foster, Ethan Howard, Landon Hall and Landon Huff have been huge so far. The Raiders have 2 district games this week, with Edmonson and Butler County before closing the week against Todd Central. 9. Grayson County Cougars (2-1) UP 2 The Cougars opened the season with an impressive win over Apollo. Nolan Shartzer showed that some may be sleeping on him this week, with 22 and 12 against the Eagles. He followed that up with a 16 point 8 rebound performance in a loss to Mclean County. Grayson County bounced back with a big win over Bethlehem on Saturday. They open play this week against Nelson County before their district opener against Edmonson County. 10. Butler County Bears (1-0) UP 2 While Butler only had 1 game this week, they made the most of it with a big district win over Edmonson County. They will have an opportunity to move up the poll this week with games against Daviess County and Whitesville Trinity. 11. Apollo Eagles (0-2) DOWN 6 Apollo takes the biggest plunge this week after a very disappointing start to the season in losses to Grayson County and Whitesville Trinity. Coach Barker is trying to find the right cast of players to put on the floor early in the season. While Apollo returned everyone from last years team, they still have to learn how to win. They have a tough week with games against Henderson, Owensboro Catholic and Forrest Park Indiana. 12. Meade County Greenwaves (0-2) DOWN 4 The Waves had a tough start to the season with big losses to Ohio County and Owensboro Catholic. They turned over a lot of seniors from last years roster and that's a tough schedule to open the season for a young group. Expect Coach Tripure to put his stamp on this group as they continue to improve thru the season. The Waves have Moore and Cloverport this week. 13. Edmonson County Wildcats (1-2) DOWN 3 The Wildcats struggled out of the gate with losses to Breck County and Butler County. The Butler County loss stung a little as it was a district loss. They did however, bounce back with a win over Cumberland County. They will have a chance to turn things around this week with district games against Whitesville Trinity, Grayson County before closing the week with Monroe County. 14. Hancock County Hornets (0-3) DOWN 1 Coach Orr had the Hornets very competitive in tough losses against Mclean and Perry Central this week. They also dropped a regional game to Ohio County. Mason Potts leads the way early on for the Hornets. They will look to get a win this week as they have 2 district contests against Cloverport and Breckenridge County. 15. Cloverport Aces (0-2) SAME The Aces are still looking for their first win of the season after losses to Whitesville Trinity and Breckenridge County. Noah Pate poured in 28 against Trinity in defeat. They will look for their first win this week with games against Hancock County, Meade County and Burgin.

Yesterday at the Owensboro Sportscenter, they held a press conference to announce the River City Roundup that will take place on Saturday December 14th. Here is the schedule for that event... Owensboro vs Castle, IN - 11 am Ohio County vs Evansville Central - 1 pm Owensboro Catholic vs John Hardin - 3 pm Apollo vs Forrest Park, IN - 5 pm Daviess County vs Tell City, IN - 7 pm

1. Owensboro Red Devils Coach: Rod Drake -- Last Year: 23-8 - 3rd Region & 9th District Champions Key Losses: Darion Wimsatt 19 ppg Outlook: The Red Devils defeated Breckenridge County in overtime, to win the 3rd Region title last season. An injury to their best player, Darion Wimsatt may have cost them in the Sweet 16, but the Devils are primed for another run in 2020. They return a ton of size in their front court in Gavin Wimsatt (10 ppg / 7 rpg), Jaden Greathouse ( 9ppg / 6 rpg) and Issac Humphrey. They also return Amari Robinson Wales, who is coming of a big sophomore season. Expect Robinson-Wales to step into the scoring role left by Wimsatt. The Devils are also bringing in a class of freshman who won the middle school state title last season. Freshman Kenyatta Carbon, Talas Taylor, Cayman Powell and Ethan Pendelton could contribute to this years team. On paper, the Devils are, by far, the deepest team inside the region. As usual, Coach Drake will test his team with a difficult schedule. They will see University Heights, Warren Central, Elizabethtown and Bowling Green this season. 2. Owensboro Catholic Aces Coach: Tim Riley -- Last Year 18-12 - 3rd Region Semifinalists Key Losses: John Parker 15 ppg / 8 rpg, Peyton Survant & Ty Vincent Outlook: While the Aces lost their leader in John Parker, they will return a very nice cast this season. As soon as Drew Hartz's Mr Football campaign comes to an end, he should step right in as the leader of this Owensboro Catholic team. They also return sophomore point guard Brian Griffith and defensive star Andrew Riney. Coach Riley will look to talented but inexperienced youth to step up and make impacts this season. Guys like Jai Webb, Braden Mundy and Sam McFarland should give the Aces solid minutes. Webb, 6-7, has a chance to be a breakout star this season. There is also word of a solid post player, who has transferred into the program. That should help battle Owensboro in the front court. Coach Riley and the Aces have scheduled big this season with games against Chrisitan County, Central Hardin, Castle, and John Hardin. 3. Ohio County Eagles Coach: Tony Hopper -- Last Year: 15-16 - 10th District Runner Up Key Losses: No double digit scorers Outlook: Ohio County is coming off what many looked at as a rebuilding year. The Eagles return almost everyone who contributed last year and are expected to have Q Jennings rejoining the roster after 1 year at Grayson County. Sharpshooters Trey Lewis and Tripp Manning will man the back court, while Shane Frady, Grant Tichenor and Hunter Pharis should handle front court duties. Keep an eye on freshman Elijah Decker. Decker logged key minutes as an 8th grader last season and should provide a big lift for the Eagles off the bench. When Tony Hopper has had great success, its been because of steady guard play and the Eagles return the most steady back court in the region. 4. Muhlenberg County Mustangs Coach: Kyle Eades -- Last Year: 16-11 - 10th District Champions Key Losses: Nolan Davis, Landon Gunterman Outlook: Muhlenberg County is coming off a district title and closed the season strong. Leading scorer, sophomore Nash Divine returns after a great summer in the AAU circuit. The Mustangs also return contributors Issac Rose and Trey Lovell, who can score in bunches. Look for Hayden Perkins to man the paint and returns as the teams leading rebounder. Coach Eades could also turn to an incoming electric freshman, Chandler Moore. It always seems that the Mustangs schedule up, and this year is no different. They have games against Hopkinsville, Bowling Green and a holiday tournament at Lexington Christian. 5. Apollo Eagles Coach: Steve Barker -- Last Year: 3-25 Key Losses: The Eagles didn't lose 1 player from last seasons roster Outlook: Some may raise an eyebrow at the top 5 rankings for the Eagles after a 3 win season last year. Coach Steve Barker had Apollo competing in every game at the end of the season last year, with very limited varsity experience. Look for Malik Wilson (11 ppg) to be a standout for Apollo all season long. He is arguably the most athletic player in the region. Role players like Harrison Bowman, Cameron Frantz, Ryan Ash, and Dan St Claire will all improve after a year of big minutes under their belt. Mid season transfer Jamen Kinison is expected to contribute at point guard and should lower the amount of unforced errors this season. A player to watch for Apollo is sophomore, Dylon Talbott. He flashed moments of brilliance last season, and should take a big step forward after a year in Apollo's strength and conditioning program. Apollo plays a schedule that should have them ready for an always tough 9th district tournament. 6. Mclean County Cougars Coach: Darren Lynam -- Last Year: 11-15 Key Losses: No double digit scorers Outlook: Mclean County hired Darren Lynam to take over as Head Coach of the Cougars this season. Lynam comes over a year removed from leading Hancock County to some of their best seasons in school history. It was a great move by the Cougars who return a very talented core of players, led by Logan Paterson. Paterson is the leading returning scorer in the region at 21 points per game. He also pulled 10 boards per outing. He will be joined by sharp shooting Jacob Clark. Clark put up 14 points per game last season. Athletic Brady Dame also nearly averaged a double double last season with 8 points and 10 boards per game. Brayden Bishop will give the Cougars key minutes. If Mclean can find a steady point guard this season, they should be able to compete for a spot in the regional tournament in a loaded 10th district. 7. Breckenridge County Tigers Coach: Patrick Critchelow -- Last Year 28-4 - 3rd Region Runner Up & 11th District Champs Key Losses: 3rd Region POY Kobe Poole (21 ppg/ 5 rpg), Cole Tabor, Tanner Whitworth Outlook: The Tigers came within seconds of winning the 3rd region title last season. They lost a strong core of seniors that had amazing careers in Harned. All is not lost, however. Kaveon Mitchell will return to lead the Tigers this season. Gritty defensive star, Brock Lucas also returns to the lineup this season. The Tigers may have to take some lumps early, while they adjust to the loss of a lot of senior leadership, but will have enough talent to keep them in the running for another 11th District title. 8. Meade County Greenwave Coach: Jason Tripure -- Last Year: 12-18 - 11th District Runner Up Key Losses: Double digit scorers Chezney Weick, Peyton Cole and Chris Armstead Outlook: The Waves are going to have to replace a lot of their offensive production from last season. The good news is, they have some young talent that is expected to jump right into those roles. It starts with Chaney Weick. The younger Weick averaged 10 points per game last season. He will be joined by Casey Turner, Mitchell Dozier, Canon Decker and Cooper Crump this season. Expect Coach Tripure to have Meade competing with anyone inside the region by seasons end. He has proven to be one of the most consistent coaches in this region over the past 5 years. A schedule mixed with 3rd Region and 5th Region opponents should prepare them to challenge for an 11th district championship this year. 9. Daviess County Panthers Coach: Neil Hayden -- Last Year: 10-15 Key Losses: Dakota Walden and Gavin Ray Outlook: The Panthers will have hard time replacing the production of Dakota Walden this season. Walden not only averaged 26 points per game last season, but he made everyone around him better. The good news for Coach Hayden, he has a great incoming freshman class. Cole Burch and Decker Renfrow could contribute right away for the Panthers. They will join returning players Christopher Hillard, Cameron Johnson, Will Barron and Ryan Thompson. Coach Hayden has a solid track record of getting the absolute most out of his teams, so you can expect the Panthers to improve as the season moves along and be in position to compete in a very difficult 9th district. 10. Edmonson County Wildcats Coach: Michael McClintic -- Last Year: 12-18 - 12th District Runner Up Key Losses: No double digit scorers Outlook: Coach McClintic has done a terrific job competing for district titles at Edmonson County. After an up and down regular season last year, the Cats fell just short of their 2nd straight district title, in overtime. They return the core of that team, led by Chaz Wilson. Wilson averaged a double double last season, with 12 points and 10 boards per game. Joining him will be Dalton Decker ( 13 ppg ) and Nick Clemmons ( 8ppg). Edmonson County enters the season as the favorites in the 12th. 11. Grayson County Cougars Coach: Travis Johnston -- Last Year 17-15 - 12th District Champions Key Losses: Spencer Sharp and Q Jennings Outlook: The Cougars are coming off a district championship last season. Q Jennings has headed back to Ohio County and the Cougars will miss his athleticism. Nolan Shartzer returns to lead this years group. Shartzer put up 13 points and 5 boards last season. Coach Johnston had his team improving all season long last year and has enough young talent around Shartzer to repeat as 12th district champions. 12. Butler County Bears Coach: Calvin Dockery -- Last Year 14-11 Key Losses: Jaden Hurt ( 14ppg / 6 ppg) and Justin Elms ( 10 ppg) Outlook: The Bears will have a chance to win an always wide open 12th District this season. They return their leading scorer in Parker Rice. Rice put up 17 points per game last year and 8 rebounds. Coach Dockery will look to returning role players Soloman Fleener and Levi McMillin to take bigger roles this season. The Bears have a very talented and athletic sophomore class that could emerge this season. 13. Hancock County Hornets Coach: Mike Orr -- Last Year: 6-22 Key Losses: Jaxson Gray 17 points per game Outlook: The Hornets are coming off a disappointing season. Coach Orr, in his second year, will look to mix in a very talented freshman class with guys like Mason Potts and Eric Elder. Potts and Elder put up 9 points per game each. The Hornets have a schedule that should garner some wins, but they will need to make up ground if they want a shot to compete with Meade County and Breckenridge County in the 11th district. 14. Whitesville Trinity Raiders Coach: Nathan West -- Last Year 13-16 Key Losses: Trenton Morris ( 13ppg), Joe Brown and Cameron Wright Outlook: The Raiders bring a lot of youth and balance back to the court this season. Expect them to compete for a regional tournament spot again this season. They will be led by Ethan Howard, who is the top returning scorer for the Raiders at 10 points per game. Look for Brenden Wathen and Landon Hall to give valuable minutes for Coach West this season. 15. Cloverport Aces Coach: Jason Hurst -- Last Year 1-28 Key Losses: No seniors lost Outlook: First year Coach Jason Hurst takes over with an experienced returning cast this season. Noah Pate is the top returning scorer at 12 points per game and is also the teams leading rebounder at 8 boards per outing. Xander Jennings and Devon Farris both contributed last season as well. With the schedule the Aces play, double digit wins would be a solid goal for the first year Head Coach. TOP 10 PLAYERS - The Region is so young and graduated so much last year, that it makes it very difficult to rank the players. These rankings are simply based on the eye ball test from what they showed last season. Expect this list to look much different by the end of the season. 1. Gavin Wimsatt - C - Owensboro - Gavin was the best player on the floor for most of the 3rd Region Tournament last season, as a freshman. He stepped up and led the Devils to state when Darion Wimsatt had to leave the game due to injury. Once he gets into basketball shape, expect him to be in the running for player of the year. 2. Amari Robinson Wales - G - Owensboro - Flashed as a sophomore with multiple 20 point games. He finished the season at a 10 points per game average. That should increase with a larger role in the offense this season. 3. Drew Hartz - G/F - Owensboro Catholic - the Mr Football Candidate broke onto the scene for the Aces basketball team last season, and at times looked like their best player. He will be stepping into the leadership role of a younger team this season. His numbers should increase with a larger role this season. 4. Logan Patterson - F - Mclean County - Patterson returns as the regions top scorer at 21 points per game. He averages a double double with 10 boards per game as well. Look for him to have a player of the year caliber season under new head coach Darren Lynam. 5. Malik Wilson - G - Apollo - Wilson may be the best overall athlete on this list. He sat half the year last season, but when he returned to the lineup he showed that he had really improved as a scoring threat from anywhere on the floor. Malik is also one of the best defensive players in the region. 6. Kaveon Mitchell - G - Breckenridge County - Mitchell only averaged 7 points per game last season, but his ability to defend the perimeter was his primary role last season. This year he will be asked to do a lot more, and with his athleticism, expect his offensive output to increase, while maintaining his spot as one of the top defensive players in the region. 7. Nash Divine - G - Muhlenberg County - Nash is coming off a freshman season where he led the Mustangs in scoring at 12 points per game. He had a fantastic summer and will be looking to increase those scoring numbers this season as the sophomore leader of his team. 8. Parker Rice - C - Butler County - Rice is arguably the best big man in the region. He is coming off a junior season in which he averaged 17 points and 8 boards. With the graduation of his teammate, Jaden Hurt, you can expect those numbers to rise even more this season. 9. Chaz Wilson - F - Edmonson County - Chaz doesn't get a lot of love inside the 3rd Region because Edmonson County is so far out of the heart of the region but the kid can play. He put up a double double average as a sophomore with 14 points and 10 rebounds per game. 10. Trey Lewis - G - Ohio County - Trey is one of the best 3 point shooters in the region, shooting it a 41% clip last season. With a couple of years of varsity experience under his belt, he should thrive in Coach Hoppers system this season. FRESHMAN WATCH LIST - Expect there to be a lot of top performing underclassmen in the 3rd Region this year. Here are some Freshman that should see some solid minutes this season... Kenyatta Carbon - Owensboro - Led OMS to a state title at the point guard spot Cole Burch & Decker Renfrow - Daviess County - were a big part of one of the only teams that beat OMS last season Elijah Decker - Ohio County - has already logged several key minutes for the varsity Eagles Chandler Moore - Muhlenberg - a versitle 6-3 kid who can shoot or play down low. He can also bring the ball up the floor if needed. Could provide some immedate minutes for the Mustangs.

Owensboro got a big 20-0 win over Bowling Green at Rash Stadium tonight. The Red Devils used a balanced offensive attack with two touchdown runs from Jeremiah Goodwin and one touchdown run from Khalil Rodgers. Defensively, the Red Devils were stout tonight. DE Kyle Sturgeon had a great game with 3 big sacks, and OLB Zach Clark finished with 4 pass breakups, 6 tackles, and an interception at the goal line to preserve the shutout. DE Sahvon Hines also had a productive night with one FF, 2 sacks, and 5 tackles. OHS QB Kasey Boone also returned from injury to have a solid night distributing the ball. The offensive line for the Devils paved the way for Goodwin to have over 150 yards on the ground. The freshman Devils have only lost 1 game in their entire career (to Castle this season) and look to finish out 2019 with a win at Henderson County next week. Bowling Green did threaten to score twice, once before halftime and once in the 4th quarter. The Purples have a nice offense, but I don't understand why they don't use Christian Conyer on the offensive side of the ball. Kid is a very nice athlete. Davis Fant also had a nice game for the Purples on both sides of the ball. The QB (Kibawa?) is also a nice athlete with a solid arm. All in all, it was a very good win for the Devils. I expect these two teams will continue to battle over the next 3 years.

I think a lot of folks are sleeping on this Owensboro group. Soft district schedule and injuries have caused people to overlook them. I would be shocked if OHS isn't one of the final 4 teams remaining in 5A.

Owensboro has a state championship level defense and i believe that defense will travel anywhere. Graves County has been a speed bump for the Devils in the past, but i'll have to see an offense win against the Devils to believe it. Graves County's only shot in this game will be to force a couple of turnovers to give their offense a short field.

Owensboro Red Devils (23-7) Coach: Rod Drake Sweet 16 Appearances: 44 State Titles: 5 (Last in 2015) District: 9th It had been 4 years since the Owensboro basketball program advanced past the first round of district. There wasn’t a player one this roster that had seen a regional tournament game. They were coming off a season in which they were heavy favorites to advance to state and graduated a strong core from that team. Coming into the season, there was a lot of uncertainty of how this team would perform. Everyone on the roster would have larger roles than a year ago. How would they perform? Through the first few weeks of the season, you could see the potential was there. Coach Rod Drake put together an absolute gauntlet of a schedule. He wanted this team to be battle tested for a long tournament run. Four of their first five games came against Union County, Central Hardin, Warren Central and Christian County. Sure, they took some lumps, but they were learning how to win. They nearly completed a massive second half comeback in the OIT against Hopkinsville. They followed that up with a dominating 14 point win over Madisonville. After taking some lumps against Bowling Green and Bullitt East, they returned home as a different team. In the second half of the season, you could easily argue Owensboro is a top 10 team in the state. They have gone 16-1 in 2019, with their only loss coming against Madisonville. During that stretch, they scored wins against Indiana powerhouse, Evansville Bosse, Bowling Green and a running clock win against Hopkinsville. The young Devils grew up fast. They did so with a suffocating defense that translates into one of the best transition games in the state. They finished the year undefeated in third region play at 17-0. Top that off with a win in the third region championship game, where their leader and star player Darrion Wimsatt was lost with a shoulder injury in the first half. With their backs against the wall, the Devils rallied again and found a way to beat a very good, senior laden, Breckenridge County team. PLAYERS Darrion Wimsatt has led the Devils all season. He puts up 20 points per game and is as smooth as they come. He can shoot it from the outside or he can get to the rim, almost at will. In transition, he’s one of the best in the state. While he suffered a shoulder injury in the regional title game, he should be able to go this week. Freshman Gavin Wimsatt is a 6-4 banger, who gets better every time he steps on the floor. He has great body control and does a great job around the basket. Defensively, he brings a lot of versatility. He can guard nearly any spot on the floor, which is very impressive for his size. Amari Robinson Wales has really made a name for himself over the past month of the season. The Sophomore has upped his average to 10 points per game, but is capable of scoring 20 on any given night. His ball handling skills are fantastic for a sophomore. Much like Darrion Wimsatt, he can shoot the jumper or take you off the dribble. Depth has made Owensboro the powerhouse that they are. Guys like Jaiden Greathouse, Aireon Phillips, Isaac Humphrey , Adante Greer and defensive specialist Monte Owsley have all played key roles for Owensboro through their impressive run. Greathouse has been a spark plug off the bench, scoring 9 points and pulling 6 boards per game. Phillips came out of no where to score 19 points after Darrion Wimsatt went down with injury in the regional championship. Adante Greer can shoot it from anywhere on the floor and brings a special kind of energy off the bench. Big man Isaac Humphrey plays his role very well and is capable of creating mis-matches inside against smaller teams. PREDICTION: The Devils will roll in the opening round, with or without Wimsatt. If they can get him back for the quarterfinal round, they will give Trinity everything they want. IF they Devils were to pull the upset(which they are very capable of doing)…..lookout.

***Championship Game has been moved to today at 8:15 with the snow chances tomorrow*** Owensboro (22-7) v Breckenridge County (26-3) Give both of their opponents credit in the semifinals, Muhlenberg and Owensboro Catholic both brought their best efforts to the table. That just proves to me, that the two best teams are going to be playing for a trip to Rupp. Breckenridge County was preseason #1 and has been around the top of this poll all season. They are led by Kobe Poole (21 ppg) but make no mistake, he is surrounded by a great group of seniors who all play their roles very well. If Breck finds a way to win it, it will likely mean sharpshooter Tanner Whitworth had a big day from beyond the arc. The Tigers on the ball defense will give them a solid chance against the most athletic team in the region. For the Devils, the recipe has been defense. They do a tremendous job in the half court and turn that into one of the best transition games in the state. Darrion Wimsatt leads the way for Owensboro at the PG spot, putting up 20 ppg. Freshman big man Gavin Wimsatt and sophomore guard Amari Wells have both had big time tourney runs. The transition game makes the Devils seem upset proof but this matchup wouldn’t be much of an upset. Expect a big time atmosphere tonight at the Sportscenter! PREDICTION: OWENSBORO

Semifinal Preview Friday - 6:30 - Breckenridge County (25-3) v Owensboro Catholic (18-11) This is the marquee semifinal matchup that everyone looked forward to when the draw took place. Breckenridge survived an upset bid from Ohio County in the first round and will need to get those Sportscenter jitters out of the way in this one. Catholic won the regular season game between the two, way back in the 2nd week of the season. The eye test tells you that these are two different teams right now. Across the board, the talent level seems to be pretty even on both sides. On the benches, both guys know how to win in tournament season. Coach Tim Riley has a state title ring with Warren Central, while Patrick Critchelow has a state title and an NCAA DII title as a player. Expect this one to come down to the final minutes. In crunch time you look to the big players to make plays. There are few in Western Kentucky better than Kobe Poole. After a slow game 1, expect Poole to be the difference maker in this one. PREDICTION: BRECKENRIDGE COUNTY Friday - 8:15 - Owensboro (21-7) v Muhlenberg County (16-10) The Devils remain unbeaten against region competition and for the most part, it hasn't been close. Meade County played a very nice game on Tuesday, but in the end Owensboro was simply to much for the Waves to handle. On the other side, Muhlenberg has found its groove, navigating through a tough district and following that up with a blowout win against Edmonson County. What Muhlenberg does well is what Owensboro does well and while the young Mustangs are finishing their season strong, its difficult to see a path for them to pull an upset and the ultra talented Devils. Right now, this region is Owensboro's to loose. PREDICTION: OWENSBORO Finals - Sunday at 3pm

Monday at 6pm - Breckenridge County (24-3) v Ohio County (15-15) Breckenridge rolls into the 3rd Region Tournament with the best overall record in the region. The Tigers overcame upset minded Meade County in the 11th district title game on a last second game winner from Kobe Poole. Poole comes into the regional tournament as the top scorer, putting up 20.7 points per game. The Tigers knocked off Ohio County 76-58 back on February 1st. Ohio County has been inconsistent all season, but they are dangerous. They have shown the ability to be a very physical team that can shoot the three. If they were to pull the upset, look for Trip Manning and Trey Lewis to have big games beyond the arc. Breckenridge is a very senior laden team and you can expect them to be a very difficult out. PREDICTION: BRECKENRIDGE COUNTY Monday at 7:45pm - Grayson County (17-14) v Owensboro Catholic (17-11) Grayson County comes into the regional tournament as one of the hottest teams. They have won 10 of their last 11 games, including a 20 point 2nd half comeback to win the 12th district title in Edmonson County. Q'Daryius McHenry brings a very athletic presence to the Sportscenter. He has been on the doorstep of several triple doubles over the past few weeks. They will be facing an Owensboro Catholic team that showed a lot of heart in a district elimination game against Daviess County. The Aces got 3 consecutive 3 point FG's from freshman point guard Brian Griffith to power them to the win. Catholic defeated Grayson by 14 in an early season matchup but both teams look a lot different since then. The Aces will have a distinct size advantage with John Parker, Ty Vincent and Jai Webb. Grayson County mostly runs a 5 guard offense and will need to find an answer in the paint if they want to move on. Tim Riley will have the Aces ready to take advantage of Grayson County's weaknesses. PREDICTION: OWENSBORO CATHOLIC TUE at 6pm - Owensboro (20-7) v Meade County (12-17) Owensboro returns to the 3rd Region Tournament for the first time since winning the state title in 2015. They will return as the team to beat. The Devils have won 13 of 14 and are 13-0 against 3rd region competition. They are the best defensive team in the region and are nearly upset proof because of how well they can get to the rim. Darrion Wimsatt is the cog that powers the Devils. He comes in putting up 19.7 points per game. The guards for Owensboro simply don't turn it over often and in turn, they like to turn you over quite a bit. They are easily the best transition team in the region. The recipe for Meade, or anyone for that matter will be to hit shots. That is often easier said than done vs Owensboro. The Waves have worked it a patchwork lineup for most of the season, but look mostly healthy coming into the tournament. They are very balanced in scoring, with 4 different players averaging double figures. If Meade is looking for somewhere where they may have an advantage, it may be in physicality. Coach Tripure's teams always bring a physical fight. Meade will have to stay away from turnovers and work for high percentage shots to pull out a win. Expect the Devil's to win this one going away with extreme ball pressure and fast break points. PREDICTION: OWENSBORO TUE at 7:45pm - Muhlenberg County (15-10) v Edmonson County (12-17) The Mustangs closed out the regular season and district tournament play on the right foot. They have won 6 of their last 8, including a tough district elimination game against red hot Mclean County. They went on to knock off Ohio County to win the 10th district championship. Sophomore guard Nash Divine is the only Mustang to average double figures in scoring at 12.2 points per game. They will need the supporting cast to bring their best game if they want to keep their season alive. Edmonson County will face an uphill climb, having to recover quickly from a heartbreaking overtime loss in the 12th district title game. They blew a 20 point 2nd half lead before losing by 5. The Wildcats will bring one of the best players to the Sportscenter that 3rd Region fans don't know in Chaz Wilson. Wilson averaged a double double with 14 points and 10 boards a game. If Edmonson can put the heartbreaking district loss behind them, they'll have a chance but looking at the way these two teams are trending, its Muhlenberg's game to lose. They are the clear cut team to beat in the region, finishing 12-0 in the 3rd. 2. Breckenridge County Tigers (24-3) SAME The Tigers finished the regular season with 24 wins after closing with impressive wins against Central Hardin and Whitesville Trinity. They tied a school record for most wins in a season. 3. Owensboro Catholic Aces (16-10) SAME The Aces had an up and down final week, losing to Castle, IN by 22 before bouncing back with a nice road win at Hopkinsville on Saturday. They will enter the postseason having lost 3 of 5. 4. Ohio County Eagles (15-14) SAME Ohio County has shown they can compete with anyone in the region but have been very inconsistent. They closed the season with tough losses to Logan County and Madisonville. The good news for the Eagles is they have already punched their ticket to the regional tournament with a bye in the 10th district. 5. Grayson County Cougars (15-14) SAME The Cougars have surged to 8 wins in their last 9 games to finish the season. They got wins against Daviess County and Hancock County this week. 6. Muhlenberg County Mustangs (13-10) UP 1 The Mustangs closed their regular season with a 13 point win over Todd Central. 7. Mclean County Cougars (11-14) UP 1 There are not many teams in the region hotter than the Mclean County Cougars. They closed the season with a 12 point win over Edmonson County. Mclean closed with 5 wins in their last 7 games. 8. Daviess County Panthers (10-14) DOWN 2 Daviess County lost 2 heartbreakers to close the regular season. They started the week with an overtime loss in Grayson County. Then on Thursday, a last second shot in Union County downed the Panthers. They have lost 3 of 4 heading into district play. 9. Butler County Bears (14-10) UP 1 The Bears closed their winning season with a victory over Cloverport. 10. Whitesville Trinity Raiders (13-15) UP 1 The Raiders lost tough games to Webster and Breck this past week. They will enter district play with 4 straight losses. 11. Both teams split wins in the regular season. Mclean comes in red hot, but it would still feel like a bit of an upset if the Cougars were to score the win. PREDICTION - OHIO COUNTY OVER MCLEAN COUNTY 11th District - #2 Breck (24-3) v #15 Cloverport (1-26) - Breckenridge should cruise here. #11 Meade (11-16) v #14 Hancock (6-21) - Meade swept series by an average margin of 34. PREDICTION - BRECKENRIDGE COUNTY OVER MEADE COUNTY 12th District - #5 Grayson (15-14) v #10 Trinity(13-15) - Grayson swept the season series in 2 close games. Cameron Wright has been injured most of the 2nd half of the season for Trinity but will try to give it a go. The Cougars athletisim will be hard for Trinity to handle. #9Butler (14-10) v #11 Edmonson(11-16) - Both teams split wins in the regular season, but Edmonson will host the district, giving them a slight edge. Butler has 2 very dynamic scorers to offset the home court advantage. This one should be a good one! PREDICTION - GRAYSON COUNTY OVER BUTLER COUNTY

With one week left in the regular season, Owensboro is the clear cut #1 in the region. Their 3rd win of the season over Owensboro Catholic moved them to 7-0 vs 9th district teams and 12-0 against 3rd region competition. Breckenridge County has bounced back from their 2 point home loss to the Devils and have since won 4 straight. Once you get out of the top 3 teams in this region, you can really throw a blanket over the rest of the region. Everyone is beating everyone and there is to much inconsistency to nail down an exact rankings. This week, I just threw records out the window and went on what i have season from this programs this season.... 1. Owensboro Red Devils (17-7) SAME With only one week left in the regular season, the Devlis have separated themselves from the 3rd region pack. On Tuesday, they went on the road to defeat Bowling Green by 12. Darrion and Gavin Wimsatt had 17 each, while Gavin added 8 boards. The win over the Purples was one of the better wins of the season for Owensboro. They closed the week with their 3rd win over Owensboro Catholic this year. Darion Wimsatt again led the Devils with 24. The win gives them the top district seed and pits them against Apollo in tournament play. They continue their tough schedule, with home games against Hoptown and Henderson to close out the season. 2. Breckenridge County Tigers (22-3) SAME Since losing to the Owensboro last Tuesday, the Tigers have started a new winning streak that they have now ran to 4 straight. Their 3 wins this week over Muhlenberg, Hancock and Mclean all came by an average margin of 28 points per game. Poole continues to lead the way, scoring right at 20 in 3 wins, while Tanner Whitworth remains one of the best 3 point shooters in the region. Hes shooting nearly 50% beyond the arc. The final week of the season has 2 tough tests at home against Central Hardin and Whitesville Trinity. 3. Owensboro Catholic Aces (15-9) SAME The Aces split a pair of games this week, starting with a win against Webster County. John Parker scored 22 in the victory. On Friday, they came up short against #1 Owensboro. Ty Vincent led the way with 15 points. The loss sets up a first round district matchup against Daviess County. Before that however, they have tough road games at Evansville Castle and Muhlenberg County. 4. Ohio County Eagles (15-12) UP 1 The Eagles ended their skid and got back on track with region wins over Trinity and Edmonson County this week. In the win over Edmonson, Colby Vanover scored 21, while Trey Lewis finished with 18. The Eagles are the one team outside the top 3 that are talented and deep enough to make a run at a regional title. They best news for Ohio County is, they have already punched their ticket to the regional tournament with a bye in the 10th district. They finish up regular season play at Logan County and vs Madisonville. 5. Grayson County Cougars (13-14) UP 2 The Cougars have been charging to the finish line of the regular season. Over the last 2 weeks they have won 6 of 7, including a big district win over Whitesville Trinity that gives them the #1 seed inside the 12th district. That will setup an elimination game against the Raiders, who they have beaten twice this season. They did drop a tough game to Mclean County to open the week but bounced back with an overtime win against Meade County. Nolan Shartzer stayed hot, scoring 24, while double double machine Q McHenry scored 13 points and pulled 11 boards. They close the season on the road at Daviess County and Hancock County this week. 6. Daviess County Panthers (10-12) SAME Daviess County continues to show they can be a dangerous team with Dakota Walden leading the way. There are times this season where he has looked unstoppable and when he puts the Panthers on his back, anything is possible. While they opened the week with an upset loss to Mclean County, Walden helped them bounce back against district rival Apollo, by scoring 43! The win sets up an interesting first round matchup against Owensboro Catholic. DC closes the season at home against Grayson and Union County. 7. Muhlenberg County Mustangs (12-10) DOWN 3 In the first half of the season, Muhlenberg County looked to be a lock as a top 5 team in the region. The second half however, it has been difficult to figure this team out. Since returning from a 3-0 run in the Magnolia Bank tournament, the Mustangs have only been able to post a 3-8 record. If they can find some of that magic from the first half of the season, they could be a surprise team come tournament time. After going 0-2 last week, they'll look for some momentum to close the season, as they finish with home games against Todd County and Owensboro Catholic. 8. Mclean County Cougars (10-13) UP 5 Its easy to see that Mclean County is playing their best basketball of the season. The Cougars had reeled off 4 straight wins before falling to #2 Breckenridge County on Saturday. They started the week with a 4 point win over Grayson County. Logan Patterson went for 20 points and 10 boards. They used that momentum to upset Daviess County on Tuesday. Hunter Patrick led the Cougars with 18 and Patterson again put up a double double with 16 and 11. On Friday, they defeated Butler County by double digits. Clark led the way with 25. Mclean closes the regular season this week with games against Union County, Edmonson County and Apollo. 9. Edmonson County Wildcats (11-14) DOWN 1 The Cats started their week off on the right step with a win over Caverna. Chaz Wilson continues to be one of the best all around players in the region, scoring 24 points and pulling 13 boards. His season average is 15 points per game and 11 rebounds per game. Edmonson had a tough end to the week, with losses to Allen County and Ohio County. They will face Butler County in the 12th district tournament. Edmonson hosts the tourney and are 2-0 against the Bears this season. The season comes to an end on the road this week at Mclean and Greenwood. 10. Butler County Bears (13-10) DOWN 1 Butler County went 0-2 this past week, losing games to Franklin Simpson and Mclean County. They have now lost 4 of their last 5 games. They will have to go to Edmonson County and play the Cats in a 12th district elimination game next week. The Cats have had their number this year winning both district games. Before the district action starts, the Bears close the regular season against Cloverport and South Warren. 11. Whitesville Trinity Raiders (13-13) DOWN 1 Trinity falls out of the top 10 for the first time all season, this week. The Raiders have battled injuries and illness in the 2nd half of the season and have now lost 4 of their last 6. They did open the week with a win over Cloverport before dropping the next 2 game to Ohio County and Grayson County. The loss to Grayson forces a rematch in the 12th district tournament. Before then, they will head to the road to close the season against Webster County, Breckenridge County and Russellville. 12. Meade County Greenwave (11-14) DOWN 1 Meade County looks to be somewhat healthy for the stretch run. It will be interesting to see what they can string together as they prepare for another run to the Sportscenter in a few weeks. They sandwiched a win over Shawnee between 2 losses against Grayson County and North Oldham. There will be a coin flip to decide the 1 seed between the Waves and Breckenridge County. Both teams should be heavy favorites to advance to the regional tournament, no matter how the flip plays out. Meade closes out the season at North Bullitt and Central Hardin. 13. Apollo Eagles (3-23) DOWN 1 Apollo battled in a couple of tough losses this past week to Henderson County and Daviess County. While its been a tough season for the defending regional champions, you can easily see the improvement as the year as worn on. They finish the regular season this week with games against Madisonville and Mclean County. 14. Hancock County Hornets (5-20) SAME The Hornets tough season continued this week, dropping a pair of games to Breckenridge County and St Francis. They close the season with a winnable game against Cannelton before heading to Grayson County. 15. Cloverport Aces (1-24) SAME The Aces got their first win of the season by defeating Cannelton Indiana. Sophomore Noah Pate had a big double double in the win, scoring 19 and pulling 10 boards. Owensboro emerged from Breckenridge County High School on Tuesday night as the favorite to win the 3rd Region. Its a position they have been in a few times since winning the state title in 2015, but have failed to make it out of the 9th district tournament in each of those years. With only 2 weeks left in the regular season, it looks like there is Owensboro, with a slight drop off to Catholic and Breckenridge and then a huge drop off to everyone else in the region. 1. Owensboro Red Devils (15-7) UP 1 Owensboro moved to 11-0 inside the 3rd region and 5-0 inside the 9th district with their big 40 point win over Apollo on Friday. Darrion Wimsatt had a monster week, putting up 27 vs the Eagles and 29 against Breckenridge County on Tuesday. Against the Tigers, Owensboro controlled the game throughout but Breckenridge scrapped a clawed until the end and had a shot to win it rim out. Guys like Jaden Greathouse and Amari Wells are coming on strong to help take the pressure of Wimsatt. Its easy to see that Owensboro is the deepest, most talented team in this region. They face tough tests this week at Bowling Green and at home against Owensboro Catholic. 2. Breckenridge County Tigers (19-3) DOWN 1 Even in the loss to Owensboro on Tuesday night, you had to come away impressed with the toughness of this squad. There were many times it looked like Owensboro was going to put the game away, yet the Tigers would always bring it back close. At one point they erased an 11 point deficit in less than a minute, tying the ballgame late. Kobe Poole scored 31 in defeat. They bounced back with a blowout win against Ohio County, 76-58. Poole poured in 20, and Tanner Whitworth knocked down 4 3's. Breck wil be at home the rest of the way, with games this week against Muhlenberg, Hancock and Mclean Counties. 3. Owensboro Catholic Aces (14-8) SAME The Aces up and down season continued this week, starting with a heartbreaking 1 point loss to Madisonville at the Sportscenter on Tuesday. They were able to put that loss behind them to keep pace with Owensboro in district play by defeating Daviess County by 13. 4 Aces reached double figures in the win. They couldn't keep the momentum alive however, losing to Greenwood on Saturday. This week they host Webster County on Tuesday before traveling to Owensboro. A win would force a coin flip for the #1 seed in the 9th district. 4. Muhlenberg County Mustangs (12-8) UP 1 The Mustangs have turned around their misfortunes over the past 2 weeks and have now won 3 straight. This week they defeated Mclean County 55-51 in a 10th district elimination game preview. The teams split the regular season series. Nolan Davis had 15 and Trey Lovell added 13. They look to stay hot this week with games at Breckenridge and home against Logan County. 5. Ohio County Eagles (13-12) DOWN 1 Since winning the all important district bye against Muhlenberg a few weeks back, its been all down hill for Ohio County. They have lost 4 of their last 6. They sandwiched a win against Butler County in between 2 losses to Apollo and Breckenridge. They look to get back on track this week with a pair of 12th district games in Edmonson and Trinity. 6. Daviess County Panthers (9-11) UP 2 While it may not show in the record, Daviess County is a team that continues to improve. They dropped a tough district game on Friday to Owensboro Catholic but bounced back on Saturday with an impressive win against Barren County. Dakota Walden scored 20 but got a lot of help in game MVP Gavin Ray. Ray finished with 19. This week they travel to Mclean County before returning home against Apollo. 7. Grayson County Cougars (9-13) UP 1 The Cougars stayed hot this week, running their win streak to 4 games. Friday, Jaxson Higdon knocked down a game winning 3, as Grayson defeated Edmonson County in district play. The win kept the Wildcats from taking the #1 seed in the 12th. On Saturday they got 22 from Nolan Shartzer and 19 points and 14 rebounds from McHenry to knock off Holy Cross at the Sportscenter. They look to keep the streak alive this week with games at Mclean and Meade before returning home against Trinity. 8. Edmonson County Wildcats (10-12) UP 3 In the logjam known as the 12th district, the Wildcats were a buzzer beater away from taking the #1 seed. That alone bumped them up past the other 12th district teams this week. They started the week with a win over Trinity before falling in the closing seconds to Grayson County. This week they have games against Caverna, Allen County and Ohio County. 9. Butler County Bears (13-8) DOWN 3 The Bears split games this week, defeating Todd County before falling to Ohio County on Thursday. In the win over Todd County, Elms, Hurt and Rice all scored 14 each. This week they head to the road to take on Franklin Simpson and Mclean County. 10. Whitesville Trinity Raiders (12-11) DOWN 1 The Raiders went 2-1 last week with wins over 11th district foes Hancock County and Meade County. On Saturday, they lost to Mclean County at the Sportscenter. They will host Cloverport this week before traveling to Ohio County and Grayson County. 11. Meade County Greenwave (10-12) DOWN 1 Seems like Meade County can't catch a break this season. Just when they got healthy and started to turn the corner, more injuries took their toll. They have proved in past seasons, if they can get healthy before the tournament run, they can be a different animal. A fully healthy Meade County is better than #11. They face Grayson County, Shawnee and North Oldham this week. 12. Apollo Eagles (3-21) UP 1 The Eagles come up a spot this week, after knocking off Ohio County on Tuesday. With Malik Wilson back in the fold, they could challenge anyone in the region, outside the top 3. They continued with a great first half against Owensboro before the wheels came off in the 2nd half. They have also played a much tougher schedule than most anyone outside the 9th district. They continue that trend this week at Henderson County before heading to Daviess County. An Apollo win at DC would force a coin flip for the #3 seed. 13. Mclean County Cougars (7-12) DOWN 2 Mclean County split games this week, losing a close one to Muhlenberg before bouncing back with a nice win against Whitesville Trinity on Saturday. AJ Cline led the Cougars with 18. 13 may be a little unfair for Mclean, as they to could compete with anyone 4-15. They have home games against Grayson, Daviess County and Butler before hitting the road against Breck County. 14. Hancock County Hornets (5-18) SAME Hancock went 0-3 this week, dropping games to South Spencer, IN, Trinity and Madison Hancock, IN. They get ready for 11th district play with a game against Breck this week before hosting St Francis. 15. Cloverport Aces (0-22) SAME The Aces are still seeking their first win of the season after losing 4 more games this past week. 1. Breckenridge County Tigers (18-2) SAME The Tigers ran their win streak to 14 this past week, going 2-0. Tuesday, Kobe Poole scored 27 to lead Breckenridge past CAL, 74-60. On Friday, they avenged their last defeat by knocking off Meade 78-61. Poole again led the Tigers in scoring with 18. They will face bigger tests this week. On Tueday, they face #2 Owensboro at home before traveling to Ohio County. 2. Owensboro Red Devils (13-7) SAME Owensboro opened their week with a loss on the road to Madisonville, 78-61, ending their 4 game win streak. They bounced back in big way on Friday, by defeating Evansville Bosse by 12. Bosse is ranked #3 in Indiana class 3A. Darrion Wimsatt led Owensboro with 20 and Amari Wales finished with 16. They finished the week by defeating Mclean County. This week they travel to #1 Breckenridge County before hosting Apollo on Friday. 3. Owensboro Catholic Aces (13-6) SAME The Aces couldn't overcome a slow start against Lexington Christian on Thursday and were eliminated in the first round of the All-A state tournament on Friday. John Parker scored 21 in the loss. Coach Riley and the Aces continue their difficult schedule on Tuesday, playing host to Madisonville. They return to district play on Friday, as they host Daviess County 4. Ohio County Eagles (12-10) SAME Ohio County was blown out at the hands of South Warren in their only game this week. They look to get back on track with games at Apollo and at home against Butler and Breckenridge this week. 5. Muhlenberg County Mustangs (11-8) UP 1 Landon Gunterman led the Mustangs to 2 wins this week, ending their 5 game skid. Friday, they defeated Apollo as Gunterman scored 18. Saturday, the Stangs knocked off Hancock County. Gunterman again led the team in scoring. This week they travel to Daviess County before returning home against a 10th district tournament preview, against Mclean County. 6. Butler County Bears (12-7) DOWN 1 The Bears dropped their lone game this week to Edmonson County, 72-65. The district defeat dropped them to 3-3 for the season in 12th district play. This week they host Todd Central before traveling to Ohio County and Hopkins Central. 7. Daviess County Panthers (8-10) UP 2 Saturday, Daviess County knocked off Meade County 59-49. Dakota Walden continued his fantastic season, leading all scorers with 26. The Panthers have 3 games this week, starting at home against Muhlenberg. Whitesville Trinity Raiders (10-9) DOWN 1 While being competitive in their losses, the Raiders have now lost 3 straight. Friday, they dropped a home district game to Grayson County 65-57. Trinity was doubled up on the free throw line and that ended up costing them the game. They have 4 games on the schedule this week against Meade, Edmonson, Hancock and Mclean. 10. Meade County Greenwave (9-11) DOWN 3 Injuries have again set the Waves back. Friday, they were blown out at the hands of #1 Breckenridge, 77-54. Saturday, they lost to Daviess County 59-49. They will look to get back to 500 this week with games against Trinity and Cloverport. 11. Edmonson County Wildcats (9-11) UP 1 The Wildcats went 2-0 this week. They opened the week with an overtime win over Metcalfe County. They kept it going against Butler County, getting the season sweep against the Bears. Chaz Wilson led the way with 26 points and 8 boards. They head to the road this week at Whitesville Trinity and Grayson County. 12. Mclean County Cougars (6-11) DOWN 2 Mclean County lost a bit of ground this week, losing 2 games in Owensboro. On Tuesday, Logan Patterson scored 21 points and pulled 10 rebounds but it still wasn't enough to defeat Apollo. Saturday, they dropped their 2nd straight game at the hands of Owensboro. The Cougars will look to get back on track this week against Grayson County, Muhlenberg County and Whitesville Trinity. 13. Apollo Eagles (1-18) SAME The Eagles ended their 18 game losing streak by defeating Mclean County on Tuesday. Malik Wilson led Apollo with 26. His return to the lineup has really helped bring scoring balance to the team. Wilson led Apollo in scoring again against Mulenberg County with 22, but it wasn't enough to get the win. They have games this week against Ohio County, Owensboro and Union County. 14. Hancock County Hornets (5-15) SAME Hancock split a pair of games this week, defeating Cloverport on Friday. Saturday, they battled Muhlenberg County before falling short. Jaxson Gray had 23 in the loss. They take to the road for 3 straight games this week against South Spencer, Whitesville Trinity and Madison Hancock, IN. 15. Cloverport Aces (0-18) SAME The Aces are still seeking their first win of the season after losing to Hancock County and Grayson County last week. They have Walden, Meade County and Dawson Springs this week. 3RD REGION PLAYER OF THE WEEK - KOBE POOLE - Breckenridge County - Kobe's 2nd player of the week award - he averaged 24ppg last week in wins against Meade and CAL and is at 19ppg on the season. With 4 weeks left in the regular season, the top 3 teams in this region are starting to set themselves in stone. While Ohio County is coming on strong, there still seems to be a bit of a gap between 1-3 and 4-12. We'll see if these gaps get wider as the regular season heads toward the finish or if anyone in the middle of the pack can take a step forward and become a real contender. 1. Breckenridge County Tigers (16-2) SAME Kobe Poole continued his great senior season this week, leading the Tigers to their 12th straight win. On Tuesday, Poole scored 16 in Breckenridge's blowout win against Apollo. Kaveon Mitchell added 16 against the Eagles. Friday, the Tigers knocked off Grayson County by 16. Poole had 22. If the Tigers can continue their winning ways over the next few weeks, they may have a shot at cracking the Bluegrasspreps top 25. They travel to CAL on Tuesday before returning home Friday, looking to avenge their early season loss to Meade County. 2. Owensboro Red Devils (11-6) SAME The Devils ran their win streak to 4 this week with big wins over Grayson County and Daviess County. Darrion Wimsatt scored 18 in the big district win over the Panthers. Owensboro is 8-0 vs the 3rd Region, but will continue to play top teams outside the region this coming week. Tuesday they travel to Madisonville. On Friday, they play one of the best teams in the state of Indiana in Evansville Bosse. The Devils will close out the week at home against Mclean County. 3. Owensboro Catholic Aces (13-5) SAME The Aces started their week, surviving upset minded Whitesville Trinity to win the All-A 3rd region championship. Freshman Brian Griffith led Catholic with 16, while John Parker and Ty Vincent chipped in 14 each in the 60-56 win. Friday, the Aces jumped out to a 20-2 lead against Apollo and never looked back, winning 72-50. Drew Hartz had 19, while Griffith was strong again, scoring 17. The Aces start their tough week on the road at Central Hardin before heading to the All-A State Tournament to close out the week. 4. Ohio County Eagles (12-9) UP 1 Ohio County became the first team in the region to punch their ticket to the 3rd region tournament on Friday, with a 60-49 win over Muhlenberg County. Colby Vanover led the Eagles with 17. Grant Tichenor gave Ohio a huge lift off the bench, bringing great energy. It looks like Tony Hopper's group is starting to turn the corner. They have won 7 of their last 9. The Eagles look to stay hot this week as they host South Warren. 5. Butler County Bears (12-6) UP 2 The Butler County Bears continue their accent up the rankings this week after scoring their 4th straight win over Whitesville Trinity. Jaden Hurt scored 23 and guard Justin Elms chipped in 14 in the win. Coach Dockery's group has won 6 of their last 8 games. We'll see if they can continue their winning trend on the road this week with games at Muhlenberg and Edmonson County. 6. Muhlenberg County Mustangs (9-8) DOWN 2 The Mustangs couldn't stop the bleeding this week, losing games to Hopkins Central and Ohio County. They have now lost 5 straight games. The loss to Ohio County cost them a first round bye in the 10th district tournament. The good news is they return home for 3 straight games this week against Butler County, Apollo and Hancock County. 7. Meade County Greenwave (9-9) DOWN 1 Meade bounced back from an early week blowout at the hands of North Hardin to score a 72-39 win over Hancock County. Peyton Cole had a monster game, scoring 29. Chris Armstead added 15. The Waves will be tested this week with tough games at Breck County and at home against Daviess County. 8. Whitesville Trinity Raiders (10-8) SAME While the Raiders dropped 2 games this week, they showed they can compete against anyone. Tuesday, they led Owensboro Catholic until very late in the game before falling short. Joe Brown knocked down 5 3 pointers to finish with 16 and Trenton Morris had a double double with 15 points and 11 boards. Friday, they lost a heart breaker to Butler County, 69-67. Keep in mind the Raiders are still without one of the top players in the region, Cameron Wright. They have 2 home district games this week against Edmonson and Grayson County. 9. Daviess County Panthers (7-10) SAME The Panthers split a pair of games this week. Tuesday, they defeated Edmonson County 91-62. Dakota Walden and Christopher Hillard both scored 23 in the win. If Coach Hayden can find Walden some consistent help, the Panthers could compete with anyone in the region. Friday, they battled Owensboro but came up short, 65-53. The Panthers continue their tough schedule this week with road games against Henderson and Meade. 10. Mclean County Cougars (6-9) UP 1 The Cougars had the week off this week but have won 2 of their last 3. Logan Patterson has one of the most impressive stat line averages in the entire region with 24 points per game and 10 rebounds per game. Teammate Brady Dame is also close to averaging a double double with 9 points per game and 11 rebounds per game. The Cougars will be tested this week with road games at Apollo and Owensboro. 11. Grayson County Cougars (7-13) DOWN 1 The Cougars continued their up and down season this week, dropping games to Owensboro and Breckenridge by an average margin of nearly 20 points. They have shown the ability to compete against top competition but have yet to put together any consistency. They return to 12th district play this Friday at Whitesville Trinity. 12. Edmonson County Wildcats (7-11) SAME The Wildcats were blown out in their lone game against Daviess County this week. Chaz Wilson was a bright spot however, as he scored 17 points and pulled down 8 rebounds. They will look to get back on track this week with 3 winnable games at Trinity, at Metcalfe and at home against Butler County. 13. Apollo Eagles (1-18) SAME The Eagles got back in action this week, but suffered 3 straight blowout losses at the hands of Breckenridge County, Owensboro Catholic and Evansville Central. They will look to end their 18 game losing streak with games against Mclean County and Muhlenberg this week. 14. Hancock County Hornets (4-14) SAME The Hornets were blown out by Meade in their lone game this week. They will travel to Cloverport and to Muhlenberg this week. 15. 1. Breckenridge County Tigers (14-2) SAME The Tigers continued to roll this week, running their winning streak to 10 games. On Tuesday, they rolled into Daviess County and took down the Panthers 79-63. Kobe Poole looked unstoppable at times, on his way to 36 points. Poole became the Tigers all-time leading scorer, moving past Breckenridge County legend Adam Mattingly. Mattingly, along with current head Coach Patrick Critchelow led Breck to a state championship and would go on to win a Division II national title at Kentucky Wesleyan. Congrats to Kobe! They followed that up with an 88-68 win over North Bullitt. Poole had 24 points and 8 rebounds, while Cole Tabor chipped in 16. They host Apollo on Tuesday before heading to Grayson County to close out the week. 2. Owensboro Red Devils (9-6) SAME Owensboro had their lone game of the week snowed out. Word on the street is 6-5 Brennan Williams will return to the Devils lineup this week. Keep your eye on that development as they host Grayson County and Daviess County this week. 3. Owensboro Catholic Aces (11-5) SAME Owensboro Catholic got back on the winning side of things this week, starting with an 87-51 blowout win over Whitesville Trinity. Freshman Jai Webb led the Aces with 16. This weekend they won the All-A semifinal matchup against Mclean County 77-61. They will rematch Trinity for the All-A title this week before closing out the week on the road at Apollo. 4. Muhlenberg County Mustangs (9-6) SAME Muhlenberg County suffered a big setback this week, dropping a 10th district game to Mclean County 47-41. That sets up a huge rematch at Ohio County on Friday night that could end up determining which team gets a bye into the regional tournament. Before then, they will face Hopkins Central on Monday. 5. Ohio County Eagles (10-7) SAME The Hartford Eagles had an up and down week, starting with a 49-44 loss against red hot Grayson County. Trey Lewis scored 14 in defeat. They bounced back with a 64-50 win against Trigg County. The Eagles host Barren County on Tuesday before their district showdown with Muhlenberg County on Friday. 6. Meade County Greenwave (8-8) UP 1 The Waves got above 500 for a short period of time early in the week with a 71-36 win over Hancock County. Chezney Wieck scored 16 in the win. They fell back to an even record with a tough loss against Elizabethtown, 70-63. Meade has a chance to stay above the 500 mark this week with games against North Hardin and Hancock County. 7. Butler County Bears (11-6) UP 3 The Bears bounced back this week and have now won 5 of 6 games. They scored a blowout win over Cloverport to start the week. Parker Rice had 25. Butler followed that up with an impressive district win over Grayson County 52-46. Hurt had 13 and Leevi McMillen was huge off the bench, chipping in 8. The win ended a 4 game win streak for Grayson County. The Bears have another big 12th district game on Friday, hosting Whitesville Trinity. 8. Whitesville Trinity Raiders (10-6) DOWN 2 Whitesville opened the week with a tough loss at Owensboro Catholic but they were able to put that loss behind them in All-A tournament play, scoring consecutive wins over Edmonson County in overtime and a blowout against Cloverport. Those wins moved the Raiders into the All-A championship against Owensboro Catholic. They also have games this week against Muhlenberg and a district game vs Butler County. 9. Daviess County Panthers (6-9) DOWN 1 Daviess County battled tough this week against great competition. Tuesday, they fell at home to Breckenridge County, 79-63. They followed that up with a hard fought loss to Warren East. The constant for Coach Hayden has been Dakota Walden. He averaged 27 points per game last week, upping his season average to 25 per outing. The Panthers take their show on the road this week with road games at Edmonson County, Owensboro and Whitesville Trinity. 10. Grayson County Cougars (7-11) DOWN 1 The Cougars opened the week running their win streak to 4 straight with a 49-44 win over Ohio County. Nolan Shartzer led the way with 17 and Spencer Sharp added 16. Their run came to an end on Saturday with a tough district loss to Butler County. They head to Owensboro on Tuesday before returning home with games against Cloverport and Breckenridge County to close out the week. 11. Mclean County Cougars (6-9) UP 1 Keep your eyes on Mclean County. They have competed well all season long and finally got over the hump with a huge district win against Muhlenberg County on Tuesday. Jacob Clark led the way with 18 points, while Brady Dame added a double double with 12 points and 10 boards. Clark was big again, in their All-A win over Hancock County, scoring 29! The Cougars dropped their All-A semifinal to Owensboro Catholic. Mclean hosts Lyon County in their lone game this week. 12. Edmonson County Wildcats (7-10) DOWN 1 The Cats split a pair of games this week, knocking off Thomas Nelson 76-64 before falling in All-A action against Whitesville Trinity in overtime. Edmonson returns home for a game against Daviess County before heading to Hart County to finish the week. 13. Apollo Eagles (1-15) SAME Apollo was off this week but they get back to action in a big way, with games against Breckenridge County, Owensboro Catholic and Evansville Central. 14. Hancock County Hornets (4-11) SAME The Hornets dropped games this week to Meade County and then in All-A competition against Mclean County. They are back in action at Meade County on Friday. 15. Cloverport Aces (0-13) SAME Cloverport continues to struggle, dropping games to Butler County and Whitesville Trinity this past week. I've said all along you can really throw a blanket over 10-11 teams in this region. The rankings are really fluid. Grayson County started well, hit a rough patch and now have reeled off some impressive wins in a row. A team like Meade, who hasn't been fully healthy for much of the season, is really hard to get a read on as well. I would bet they will be in the mix come tournament time. A lot of teams in the middle of the pack have solid talent up and down the lineup but very little varsity experience that has returned. I think that's contributed to the inconsistency. From what i've seen thus far, Owensboro, Breckenridge County and Owensboro Catholic are the most talented teams in the region but not by a lot. This could easily be a season someone comes from no where to make the trip to Rupp.
