Have you seen many high level club games? So you think the element of HS physicality is what the college coaches are looking for? The physicality is the HS game is the last thing a college coach is looking at. HS physicality has almost nothing to do with playing good soccer but way more to do with this is the only "skill" a lot of HS players have. High level club games require every player to be very physical, but in the right way, not being a bull in the china shop. And apparently you haven't seen high level club games at the State Cup, Regional, or National events. There is a tremendous about of club pride on display. One of the best scenes is watching one club team (all of their players in club gear) sit together along the sideline and root on their club teammates at these events.

YC has the right idea. NDA went years and years with NO home field, not even a practice patch. They would schedule 3-5 triple headers each season on Saturdays, more field space availability at Xavier or CCH, or where ever the could find good field space to rent. It was actually a good solution and possibly better then scheduling triple headers on a weeknight. Weeknight triple header causes the freshman game to start at what 4:30? This gets about 20 spectators at the freshman game. Holding the triple header on a Saturday while promoting the school spirit, school support for all 3 teams, tailgate, make an all day event out if it. Terrific events for the players, coaches, and spectators. NDA built a great program all while having NO lights, NO field, NO practice patch. If you think it takes lights to build a program you're looking at it all the wrong way. You build a program with players, coaches, committed school administration, and committed families.

Again, I wasn't able to make the game so all of my comments are completely based on BGP post, I would like to comment on a few of them. Post #6 by OTB84 "Snow is the real deal…..quality, talented kid that doesn't talk or take cheap shots.....he just plays very good soccer........asking anyone to go 4 against 1 all night is a big thing to ask.... I could not agree more, ASnow is a class act, and one of the best pure goal scorers to play in NKY. The kid is rare in that he can consistently create on his own and then finish what he created. This is disappointing, especially considering CCH has anywhere from 8-10 seniors on the field most of the time. If seniors can't play with passion, energy and a high work rate this time of the season, something is really wrong. Add CCH has not won a Regional title since 2009, what are they (seniors) waiting for, their time is about up. Post #14 by Goal15 "I've never seen a team criticized so much for winning. It's the postseason. Survive and advance." I agree, ADAVANCE is the KEY word. And only the CCH coaches really know what their game plan is for each game. Apparently going up against an excellent scorer in ASnow, the staff had a good tactical plan in place. St Henry coaches get a lot of credit, desirably so, but their game plan Vs Cooper was a disaster. If there is one school/staff that feels the pressure to win a Regional title it is CCH. If the players and staff deliver a title nothing else should matter. Post #21 oneperspective "I do hope the boy from CCH that looked as if his shoulder was out of socket is okay. The coaches from CCH didn't looked concerned at all, they looked more irritated that the game had to be stopped. Amazing to me a spectator clear across the field can detect this much information from the coaches on the opposite sideline. Accusing the CCH coaches of not caring about an injured player is a bit much. And all HS games have certified trainers to care for the injured, the coaches know this and leave it the these trainers to provide professional treatment. Post #26 shutout "I was sitting behind them, there was even what looked to be a teacher or staff member monitoring them, NO ACTION WAS TAKEN. This is an embarrassment to your school, the chants are fine the cheering is awesome (we all wish we had fans like yours) but when you start calling out individual kids and using inappropriate language it's gone to far." Glad to be informed the post season has "officially" begun. The "official" start of all 9th region post seasons is when someone accuses the crazies of name calling, using inappropriate language, all while the CCH AD, Principal, and Dean of Discipline all just stand there and do nothing about it.

Interesting to read the game summaries since I couldn't make the semi finals last night. Figured Cooper would have problems getting the ball to ASnow in areas he could create scoring opportunities. Sounds like Cooper pretty much left him on an island up top all alone Vs 3-4 defenders. Did Cooper ever try to mix it up, put another player up top, drop AS back behind a target forward or back into the midfield? Is CCH really struggling scoring or is a typical case of regional play where everything tightens up? Typically scoring is always down come this time of year, the underdog teams tend to go more into defensive mode, put 9-10 players behind the ball, hope for a tie/shootout. Based on the BGP game summaries, Ryle only beat Dixie 2-1 and one goal from each team off a pk. Was this another case of Dixie parking 10 players behind the ball? In the finals the team that plays more aggressive, attacks will likely come out on top. Sitting back and defending all game will in most cases cause you to loose 1-0.

Neil Armstrong's prediction proved true. Your's on the other hand, "St. Henry is good. Cooper is bad. St. Henry 10 Cooper 0", is about as far off as the earth is from the moon.

I have commented on how the NCC program has a history of good, strong teams and players. I have made comments NCC is a very good academic school with good staff, all numerous times on BGP. What some of you NCC supporters are not getting about some of my comments this season is it appears some are ok with the drop off in level of play, drop off in level of competition Vs past years. Supporters of programs with a rich, successful history such as NCC, IMO should not settle or be content with an average opponent rank of #68, should not be content playing 5 teams out of 21 with an opponent rank well over #100.

When in doubt if your team had a good season or a bad season, ask the players. Give them 48 hrs, maybe a week after their last loss for the sting to go away a little. And I'm talking about asking the top 11-14 players that are the main contributors. If this group of players feel their season was successful, then I'm good with it.

If this is true, it's just wrong. Being signed by UK probably enhanced her chances in voting coaches' eyes. This was one if the most unfair Miss KY votes in the history of the award. Rowland was by far the best female HS player in KY ALL year last year, she got ROBBED.

Technically speaking, if this game goes to a shootout I don't see Cooper coming out on top. CCH players are technically way better then Cooper's (with the exception of one). And in a shootout I take the superior technical team every time. Some say shootouts are all luck, in one small part I agree, the keeper must have some luck in guessing which way to move, but even the keeper guessing correctly is in part due to good technical goalie training.

Excellent take YC. I saw it the same way when I correctly predicted not only the upset but the score, "not a good matchup for them (St Henry)" is spot on.

You think NCC had a good season? Maybe that's the problem, supporters settling for mediocrity. NCC has a good history, teams such as this should set and expect higher goals/achievements. Set the bar low and lower then normal expectations we be met. And IMO some NCC supporters owe the former coach an apology. Some NCC supporters placed a lot of blame on the former coach, ran his name through the mud on here. Went on and on how this year would be so much better because he is no longer the coach, etc. Can't place this loss/this season on him.

This argument only holds water if you only take stats into consideration, which is the #1 problem with in this whole argument. As has been mentioned many, many times on BGP, stats can be very misleading. OPOY, DPOY, MR KY, Miss KY should be awarded to truly the best players in each category, not the one with the best stats. A big factor in determining this should be how the players perform against the best, when they are most needed, what they did to help their team win, etc. Are the 3rd and 4th goals some player scored in the third week of the season in an 8-0 blowout carry the same importance as the lone goal in a 1-0 win in a regional game?

Maher Rankings are being backed up by the list of teams still alive. only 3 of the top 20 are finished for the season. #13 Tates Creek lost in Districts to #26 Lex Cath. #19 Lafayette lost in Districts to #16 Paul Laurence Dunbar. #20 St Henry lost in Regionals to #40 Cooper

Looking forward to watching ASnow on Thursday, he alone is worth the price of admission. Unfortunately for him and his teammates, CCH is no St. Henry. Expected St. Henry's defense to have issues and they did, CCH will not have these same issues. And no comparison between the 11 players CCH rolls out to the 11 St. Henry can put on the field. Cooper's supporting cast will have a lot of problems getting the ball to AS and stopping the CCH attack. CCH will be able to keep an extra defender back, 3 V 1 or maybe even 4 V 1, and these 3 or 4 have good speed. The only factor that could have a play, will CCH be looking ahead to the finals/Ryle? If they do ASnow has the ability to burn them.

Not surprised by this result. Where are the NCC supporters that all season said everyone was wrong, come tournament time NCC would be the team to beat because of their superior conditioning? IMO the very weak schedule NCC played is a factor, playing weak, slow, unskilled teams throughout the regular season will not prepare you for post season. Congrats Dixie, good luck on Thursday.

ASnow is a game changer. I typically don't like to do this before the season ends, but it's time. Agree with imsays, ASnow is opoy.

Yep, win (ugly) and advance. CCH did not play well, little possession, way to much the big ball. HHS goal was questionable, ball hit the bottom of the crossbar and came out. The AR was a good 12+ yards up the field, no way he can see if the whole ball crossed the goal line. If the ball bounces out after hitting the bottom of the cross bar and you're 12 yards up the field no way you call that a goal. It the end it makes no difference, win and advance.

From these photos looks like the free kick was taken from approximately 22 yards out and just a little off center of the goal, unbelievable St Henry only had two players in the wall. It looks like the wall would call for at least 4 maybe 5 players.

I vote to do away with stats completely. Would be very interesting to see who wins OPOY with no stats. IMO the best true player would win, not necessarily the one with the most goals, assists, etc. Stats are way over rated in HS sports, due to the disparity in level of competition each team plays, the way some coaches handle their teams, etc. Many players with a high number of goals get a ton of goals vs very weak teams, and some coaches keep them in these one sided games just to pad their stats.

Just shows stats are unreliable, inconsistent, and at times a joke. A lot of schools use a student manager to keep stats, friend of the players. The players come to the bench and say to their friend keeping stats, " you put me down for an assist on that goal right?"

Predict there will be an upset in the first round, it's either Cooper over St Henry or Dixie over NCC. Don't see all 4 favorites, all four higher ranked opponents winning all 4 games. First round games #20 St Henry Vs #40 Cooper #6 CCH Vs Vs #33 HHS #43 NCC Vs #84 Dixie #27 Ryle Vs VS #70 Holy Cross

Is this some kind of joke? If it is not many are laughing. October 1, 2015, Cooper 2 - St Henry 2. St Henry ranked 20th with an OAS of 6.91 Copper ranked 40th with an OAS of 5.89 Rankings, strength of schedule and the result of their game on October 1 is no guarantee this game on October 20 will be close, but a 10-0 win for St Henry, be realistic.
