If a defense fears the pass on every single play, instead of playing the run, and hoping they don't get burned by a surprise slant over the middle, it can make for a pretty interesting day for the quarterback and two running backs averaging about 10 yards per carry. In 1998, Highlands (Lorenzen) went into the championship game averaging nearly 400 yards per game, passing, with the starters seldom playing into the 2nd half. On the first or second offensive play of the game, Lorenzen threw a pass which traveled about 400 yards through the air only to have the receiver drop it in the end zone. From that point on, Waggener rushed 3, sometimes 4, dropping everyone else into pass coverage. Lorenzen only attempted 6 more passes completing 3 for a grand total of 11 yards while the Birds rushed for about 400 yards and a 56-7 win. HIGHLANDS 56, LOU. WAGGENER 7 Simply put, if you expect the run on every play, it is easier (I didn't say easy) to defend the rush than it is if you expect the pass more than a handful of times a game.

That word is the key, that IS the style they prefer, but they historically could do a pretty good job of passing the pig. I am not knocking Knox, I am speaking strictly about style. If you can't throw it enough to keep them guessing, an average defense can pack it in and slow you down enough for their offense to take over. I would venture a guess that JC had a big, time of possession advantage in every one of their losses to Highlands.

Seldom a formula for success in the playoffs. A team like that gets down a couple of scores to a quick strike, speed, offense and there isn't enough time to come back.

I don't get this either, apparently the voters didn't get the memo that SK was embarrassed by a far superior Dixie and that the Station D held SC to ZERO points in the 4th quarter. On a side note, I just learned that using the first letter of the words Bryan and Station together is a word violation and I had to edit my post to remove it. I don't have a problem with it, it just kind of surprised me.

So a team can't be relatively down and still not beat everyone's brains in? IMHO, there are four or five teams in the state, that even in their down years, have a way better chance of winning a championship than dozens of teams do in their once in a lifetime UP years.

And they have moved up to #7 in the Florida 8A AP Rankings

Highlands desperately WANTS the win, Elder desperately NEEDS the win. Shaping up to be a good one.

If "those kids" haven't gotten better in the 10 games they have played since last years game and SK is just as good as they were a year ago, the Neers should have no problems.

I'm pulling for SK, but it looks like BC will be a challenge, they have a lot of weapons.

Checking out their stats, it looks like BC can move the ball. Through the first seven games the QB has thrown for 1000 yards, 14 TD's with only 1 INT. Their running back is apparently a rock star, rushing for about 200 ypg on 20 attempts per game. Their D is quite impressive too, they allow only 64 ypg.

A 3-way tie would be disastrous for SK because they would probably drop to a 3 seed. The first tie breaker is head to head, that doesn't work. The second is wins by 4 of your opponents. Since Ryle played better competition, they would get the 2 seed. UK should be the biggest Dixie fan in NoKY this week.

Lucky for them they don't have to face Simon Kenton! :eek:

Oh how short your memory is. For weeks leading up to last night, we listened to the same garbage from you. What makes you think things will be better for you in a few weeks? Tempering your comments and hoping it's not worse in the playoffs might be prudent.

How do you explain 3 straight bad games? SK sqeeks by 2 teams with losing records and the gets embarrassed by a team that has no passing game.

I know you are pulling for Ryle to beat Dixie. If that happens, SK will drop to 3 seed because of their weak schedule.
