My part in this thread is done. Nobody has stated SK was better than Butler or Meade last year. That was proven on the field. That misconception is in your mind. Consistently does not mean every year, but more often than not over a period of time. I have presented the facts about the district competing in 6A as a whole and you have rebutted with agenda driven gibberish. Continue with your agenda and hopefully over the next few years NKY 6A will continue to improve its quality of play. The gap between these teams and the top NKY teams is closing whether you like to admit it or not.

Here is your list: A Male - SK beat them in 2009 Trinity Scott County St Xavier Manual McCracken County - Beat 0-10 boone last year Meade County - No recent history Central Hardin - No recent history. Bryan Station - SK beat them in 2012. Lex Lafayette - Boone beat them in 2011. It is week 4. There is no history this year to prove who would beat who. It is completely subjective. The games would be competitive. I will agree that top to bottom, the NKY 6A district is mediocre, if you will agree that every district in the state from top to bottom (other than the super district) is mediocre. District mediocrity is generalization that applies to the whole state. Here are the facts: Recent history shows the only teams in 6A that NKY 6A has consistently had problems with over the years are X, Trinity, Male and Scott County. In 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2013, 3 of the 4 NKY playoff teams advanced to the second round. You talk of an easy road to the finals. Was it that easy? Scott County beat Meade County 21-14 in the finals. Butler was a good team, who lost to Male, Manual and Meade Co. They were also the only team from their district to advance to the second round. Dixie, SK and Campbell all beat the other 3 teams in the district. So of the 8 teams in that region, Butler was best, followed by the 3 NKY schools, then the rest of Butler's district. The top teams in the NKY 6A district are good teams. They are not the elite, but they are good football teams.

Your argument has no validity. If Campbell is mediocre/bad, then so is Highlands. On the field, Highlands won by 1 score. Campbell is 3-1. Dixie was beaten handily by CovCath but is otherwise 2-1. I don't think SK is top 5. In fact, I have never stated that. They haven't played any district games yet and haven't beaten anybody of substance, but they are 4-0. You need Bryan Station (2-2) to be good for you thinking Highlands is good to have any validity. The fact is that Highlands beat Bryan Station by 6 and Campbell by 7. Maybe those 2 just played bad since you don't like facts. Based upon your argument, and the fact that half of the schools in Highlands district are in the bad category (would be 3 out of 5, but Pendleton dropped out). Does that mean NKY 4A is bad? No it doesn't mean that. I challenge you to find a district in the state that is solid from top to bottom other than the super district??? Where do you even get your rankings? AP poll? BGP poll? It is week 4. Nobody knows who is good yet. Highlands may beat CovCath and Highlands may lose to CovCath. Either way, Highlands is still a good team. Lafayette only beat Boone 30 - 14. Polls mean nothing. What happens on the field means something! You want to give Bryan Station props, but make an excuse for the Campbell game as Highlands playing bad. I believe 3 teams in NKY 6A could compete with or beat any team outside of the top 5 teams in 6A. I think 3 teams in NKY 6A could compete with or beat all of the schools from 5A - 1A. One school in NKY 6A has proven, on the field, that they can compete with Highlands, but you dismiss that. Highlands and CovCath are tough in 4A. Bowling Green would be extremely tough in 5A. Otherwise, this early in the season, nobody knows who is actually good or not.

The point is, you are holding NKY 6A up against a bar that you are not willing to hold Highlands to. That bar is Trinity and the Super district. You claim NKY 6A is bad because they have been unable to beat Trinity, Male, X and the like, but you give Highlands a pass. When a team from NKY 6A competes with Highlands and loses by 7, you claim it is because Highlands played bad. Give credit when credit is due. NKY 6A is not as bad as you want people to think it is. That is the point.

I do know this, but no type of preparation is going to change a score of 40-0. Those scrimmages have been very lopsided over the years. IMO, it says more about how good Trinity is, then how good Highlands is. Highlands is still good despite the outcomes of these scrimmages.

Based upon the bold, then Highlands is mediocre too. They get pounded in the scrimmage each year by Trinity. The teams in the super district play each other really tight. Scott County was able to beat the best super district team last year in Male. Bowling Green has beaten X the past few years. So essentially outside of the Male, Manual, Trinity, X, Scott County, and Bowling Green, the whole state is mediocre. You know, since you can remove those top 4-5 schools from KY and all. The only reason Bryan Station is mentioned in this paragraph is because it is the only way to justify a really close game for Highlands. I don't believe that Highlands or Bryan Station are mediocre, but I also don't think you have to be able to beat the top 4 or 5 teams in the state in order to be considered a good team.

Is speed uncontainable? I for one believe that speed kills, but not just raw speed. I have seen many times where the faster, more athletic team has lost the game. For example, a couple years ago, an average Dixie team competed with and almost beat a pretty darn good, athletic Henry Clay. Also, Highlands vs. Scott County a couple years ago.

Too early in the season to tell. I would say the next 3 weeks will be telling to see where both stand.

IMO, the safety gave them 9 instead of only 7 due to the KO from the 20 giving Highlands great field position to start the next drive. Highlands scoring rather than turning it over would have been better for CC considering the result of a safety. If CC had 0 turnovers and 0 penalties I would allow that Highlands just played bad, but CC had turnovers and multiple penalties as well. Highlands didn't play a flawless game and neither did CC. Unfortunately, you can only go off of the 1 game that was played this year. You can believe it would be a 3 or 4 TD game the second time around and maybe it would, but without a disastrous 1st quarter it could go the other was as well. As for mediocrity in the state, I think Male, Manual, Trinity, Scott Co. and X would be an extremely tough out for any team in NKY 6A this year. I also believe these teams would be a tough out for Highlands and CovCath as well. Heck, the Trinity/Highlands scrimmage was 40-0. Outside of the those top 5 6A teams, I think a SK, Campbell and Dixie would be able to compete with and/or beat every other 6A team in the state. So to answer your question, mediocre compared to those 5 teams? Sure. Mediocre compared to the rest of the state? Not a chance.

Here is my logic. Highlands was on the field against another team and scored 23. The other team scored 16. The final score was 23-16. Penalties and overthrows didn't stop Highlands for 3 quarters. The other team did. That team is in NKY 6A which you consider to be bad and mediocre. So basically, Highlands only beat a bad/mediocre NKY 6A team by 7 points. Either Highlands is bad/mediocre or Highlands is good and NKY 6A isn't as bad as you think it is. To my original point, it can't be both ways.

That game was brought up because it is the only game that Highlands has played against a bad, mediocre NKY 6A team. I have watched the game. Campbell gave up a safety, turned the ball over and gave Highlands the ball at the 40 yardline 4 times in the 1st quarter. Highlands took advantage and scored 3 times in the 1st quarter off of those short fields. The next 3 quarters Campbell County shut out Highlands and scored 16 points of their own. The final score was a 7 point difference and it was not because Highlands played bad. If Campbell (NKY 6A rep in this case) is mediocre, then so is Highlands. I tend to believe that neither team is mediocre, but only time will tell.

The only NKY 6A team Highlands has played is Campbell County. Highlands beat Campbell County by 7. By your post, the only NKY 6A team that is mediocre/decent is SK. Is 1 TD striking distance?

So what about the other questions? A 3 year drop off in talent should change the varsity results, right? The first drop off freshman team would be Seniors now. How do you explain the fact that they are still pretty good?

Any proof at the varsity level? Didn't Ryle's Freshman go undefeated last year? Also, wouldn't a 3 year drop off be showing on the field by now at the varsity level?

You do realize that a decline in Ft. Thomas only takes them down to the level of teams like Simon Kenton, right?

Ohio only counts grades 10-12 for enrollment.

NCC is not a typical 2A school like Lloyd or Newport. They draw kids from all of Campbell County including Newport, Ft. Thomas, Bellevue, Dayton, Alexandria, Cold Springs, Highland Heights, etc. They have in the past been very capable of competing with those big schools because it is not about enrollment. It is about the quality and talent of the kids they get. It is almost an annual basis that they end up with the best players out of Bellevue, Dayton and a lot of good ones out of Alexandria. Also, 6 classes is very misleading when it comes to enrollment in KY. The largest 2A school has 315 boys and the smallest 4A school has 428 boys. That is a minimal difference. 6A schools double 2A enrollment so the number is much greater, but quantity does not always equal quality.

NKY 6A over the past 4 years has had 1st round success against every district they have been matched against. 2010 - Ryle beat Madison Central, CC beat GRC, , SK beat Tates Creek; Ryle vs SK in Region Final; Ryle lost to Trinity in Semis. Ryle also beat Highlands in week 10 that year. 2011 - Boone beat Madison Central, Ryle beat GRC, Campbell beat Tates Creek: Boone beat Lafayette in Region Final; Boone lost to Scott Co 14-7 in Semis 2012 - SK beat Bryan Station, Campbell beat Dunbar; SK lost to Scott Co in Region 2013 - Campbell beat PRP, SK beat Southern, Dixie beat Seneca; SK lost to Butler in Region It looks like NKY 6A has only had trouble with Trinity, X, Male, Manual, & Scott County consistently since 2010. Otherwise, NKY 6A has had 3 1st round winners 3 of the past 4 years.
