With the khsaa... They don't investigate unless somebody goes on the record and complains or filed a complaint. Lots of stuff happens that never gets reported. This obviously did.

The coach gave the kid a tour of the school and contacted the family via text and call. It's a clear violation. That's what the post I responded to said. It was about "what happened". There is no debate on this. They clearly violated the rule.

And that's silly. When you're in WKY it's easier to get to Indiana, IL and Tennessee then to Louisville. They've played some very good teams in IN, IL and TN. To ignore that is silly.

The independence Tennessee team is 18-1. Whoever came up with that combined record above is wrong. Further, now you "qualify" your previous statement. I said it isn't a super tough schedule. On that we agree. You said "very soft". It clearly isn't.

At university heights (I asked sparks this question last year) half of the student body receives financial aid. This situation will be solved next year when the new rules for the all a apply. If you boycott one sport you boycott all.

Youre right, but you called me out... So I made the case. I didn't have much of a case to make. All I had to do was prove it wasn't "very soft". It obviously isn't. I could go through and break down every team. But I don't have to. The standard I have to get to is "very soft". The fact that they have already played several teams with 15 or more wins along with their opponent's having a combined winning record, it's obviously not "very soft".

The KHSAA backs down when threatened. But most of the time when they back down from these situations it's not when somebody has accused the player or school in question of doing anything wrong. The Ledonald Gray situation is a good one. University Heights didn't challenge or complain to the khsaa about Gray's eligibility. But he was originally ruled ineligible by the khsaa as he should have. He didn't have a legitimate reason for the transfer. They appealed it and a lawyer went to the hearing and threatened them. They reversed. I suspect this happens often when there aren't legitimate moves but the school that the kid transfers from doesn't challenge the eligibility. Again, in cases like cordia and graves county and others when schools are accused of cheating, and there is a mountain of evidence the khsaa comes down hard. But in eligibility cases we often see the khsaa back down when threatened.

Christian County has played 17 games. 11 have been against teams with winning records. They've already played 6 teams that have 15 wins or more. the average record of their opponents is 11-6. Have they played the toughest schedule in the state? nope. It's hard to when you're a far wky team. But your words were "very easy". Only a fool would say Christian County's schedule was "very soft". It boils down to the coach conducting the tour or the admissions team. it also boils down to "feeder" systems etc... At the end of the day it's about proving this stuff and finding people willing to come forward. The fact is, few people are willing to come forward in these situations.

As I said earlier, proving is the tough part. Back to the original point. A lot of this stuff starts at "open gym". Making that less of a "Wild West" environment will help stem a lot of the "transfers" that are causing so much heart burn the last few years.

It isn't supposed to but In the case of hoptown, when a kid gets ruled ineligible by the khsaa when they transfer in hoptown has a lawyer in standby who sends a letter threatening to sue the khsaa and the khsaa then reverses. It's happened multiple times in the last few years. You might think, "it can't be that simple". But it is.

If a kid moves because his parent got another job its obviously a legit reason. If a kid is recruited it's a violation whether he moves or not. This isn't a question of the kid's eligibility. this is a question of a recruitment. not sure if you're intending to but you're creating a bit of a red herring here.

No, he was recruited. They didn't address why. They addressed the actual recruitment which was proven.

The issue here is the "reason" a kid transfers and "who helps initiate" the transfer. If a kid decides to move from hickman to graves and to attend graves because they think they have a better chance at going to a better college, fine. Even if they do play basketball. That's why the general rules of the transfer system exist. "must transfer because of a move, etc..." but the same rules also say you can't be "recruited" and can't transfer because of "sports". The last two are VERY hard to prove. 99/100 times it happens it doesn't get reported and nothing ever happens. This time it did and something happened. There is no "Pandoras box" here. They just enforced the rules that exist. If the kid had never taken the tour with the coach there is no rule broken...

Gotcha, I understand. I just wonder how they proved this? That sort of thing is rumored all of the time but it's so tough to prove.

When they play well they are. But being so young, they're inconsistent. How they handle the bright lights of the "all a" will be interesting.
