Good ranking for Scott I hope they surprise some teams.
They very well could be the dark horse in this . Time will tell. They are not very deep , but if the athletes they do have stay healthy. Could get interesting !
-
Henschen looks every bit of 6'5" plus and still growing. Lawrence adding some muscle to an already "beefy" frame, & Hightchew looks like he grow 2 inches and added about 20-30 pounds.
Great !! I can't wait to see this game
-
I could see a couple of these guys making it to D1, if they have a positive year. That being said , they may not play running back in college. If they are an athlete , they will use them where needed.
-
Hopefully they are more athletic than last year. On defense, Lawrence is an absolute beast.
I look forward into watching them out at Scott in less than a few weeks. Should be a good game ! Scott has a physical solid line on both sides of the ball . It should be a great matchup.
-
Jacob Smith 6'0 195 RB
John Harris 5'8 188 RB/OLB
Patrick Henschen 6'5 210 QB
Austin Neff 6'2 185 WR/DE
Luke Kues 6'1 187 WR/TE/DE
Griffin McHugh 6'2 190 WR/TE/DE
Eric Anderson 6'2 172 WR/FS
Kobe Tallon 6'1 215 MLB/G
Maleak Lawrence 5'10 230 DE/DT
How do they look upfront on the line ?
-
I agree both those backs you have mentioned are top notch !! I will add that Pleasant and London are both very healthy and have looked solid in practice . I expect a productive year from both .
-
Less than 3 weeks away from seeing Jacob Smith and Roberto London and Deondra Pleasant play in the same game !! Scott vs NCC . Some of the areas best rushers !! Should be a good one to attend !!
-
-
In my opinion it is pretty much a glorified practice , to use as a measuring stick for both teams to see the whole picture of pros and cons and player development .
-
The winner(s) of this scrimmage, and all other scrimmages, are the teams that learn something about themselves in preparation for the regular season and do not get bitten by the injury bug. Keeping score in these games means nothing in my opinion and is usually done by those to make themselves feel good.
Well said . I agree !! I have went to Scott's scrimmage the past 2 years they use the score board for clock only and no score is put on board.
-
I believe this matchup will be pretty similar. I know both teams are similar in style and numbers and athletes. This should give both teams a solid look at the pros and cons going into week 1. I give the edge to Dan Woolley and the Scott Eagles in this preseason matchup , if keeping score
-
Coopers roster has him listed at 5'8 170.
Good athlete !! Very fun to watch , as long as your defense is not facing him lol. He should do well this season, and Cooper will do just fine .
-
I wouldn't be to shocked if Scott plays both NCC and Dixie very well out of the gate . Scott could even take one if not both of those . That being said that may be a potential shift changer in the top 10. I like lloyd this year and expect them to be sitting at an 11 spot for now , and potential to make some noise .
-
I like Cooper and the fight they have in them . The program is top notch and I feel they will do just fine in 6A. They are a fun group of kids that want to win and play every play . I wish them the best of luck moving forward !!
-
I agree with RJS on this one . It 's a scrimmage . Glorified practice run . This is an opportunity for both programs to put in some reps on offense and defense , to see where they are at and make adjustments .
-
They are in the district with Bourbon County, Mason County, Harrison County, and The Scott High Eagles . I could see Holmes competeing in a couple of these matchups and probably win at least one district game . (Harrison) .

It has nothing to do with the football program. Scott has lost several guys to other sports. For example, Jake Ohmer is a high level basketball and baseball player, that has devoted his time to those two sports. There are several other basketball players that have given up football, and one other solid kid this year that has decided to focus on wrestling. All these guys while good football players, have a solid chance to continue at the next level in those other sports. In reality, it's not like there are bunches of kids that have walked away from the program, and the hallways aren't crawling with kids that would make a big impact on the football team. You also have to remember, Scott has had a very good Soccer program over the last 7-8 years, and has very good numbers....so some of those very good athletes have never played football. That combined with the drop in enrollment, limits the number of kids available to play football. The Taylor Mill Eagles have only been around for 5 years now, and none of the current classes at Scott spent more than a year or two in that organization...the sophomore class was the inaugural class. The kids that have grown up in the organization are just now in Middle School, and hopefully we will see the impact in numbers over the next 2-3 years as those kids enter Scott.
Scott Football is still in the very early stages of revival. Building a program from where it was takes more than a couple of years. This year is a key year, as they return more talent than they've ever had, and have stepped up the schedule pretty significantly. A district title and a playoff win or two would be a nice, solid next step in the evolution, and if everything goes really well, a deep playoff run (which is possible) could really set them up for even longer term success.
I couldn't agree more on this year being very key on the Eagles success radar . They have been very successful, the past 2 seasons and I feel with this group of seniors and supporting classes . I sure hope for the best for the Eagles !!

How is Bourbon County been looking thus far throughout the summer ?
-
Well what will help the secondary a ton this year will be if Scott does choose to throw more. That means the DB's will see more in practice each week and can only help them out.
Great Point H.B. ! Sure Hope So ! If Scott can have the passing game support the rushing game , and the defense to step up , with the new conference Scott could ..and its a big could ... Make some noise !!
-
Scott looked pretty good on offense. Passes looked fairly sharp and a couple guys showed some good hands. Guys were getting open so certainly upside should they decide to open it up a little. Defense was decent but some blown assignments left guys open for easy completions. Worked a lot of players in and out so looks like still a work in progress. No line pressure obviously plays a huge roll as well. Decent amount of spectators which was good to see as well.
I agree on the offensive side of the ball . Scott's Senior QB Fitzgerald looked good and was throwing with confidence. He had great accuracy and zip on the ball. The receivers caught many great passes and got open often . As for defense . I see some room for improvement with the secondary. They have a few more weeks to get the secondary together. As you stated , the defensive line could be helpful by applying some pressure on the QB to help Scott's secondary out !! Good luck Eagles !!
-
From what I hear they plan on passing more this year.. The biggest issue they are going to battle is depth.. They have a smaller squad then what they have fielded the last few years. Some of they're best athletes are not playing football unfortunately. Also the class of 2016 in whole at Scott is very small compared to other classes... That being said it should be a very exciting year in The Mill
That being said the 2017 class is even smaller . The majority of the roster is made up of 12th graders and 10th graders . Nice group to watch , the athletes they do have compliment each other well . Look to see them do well again this season !!

Tucker is a 7th grader starting middle linebacker for the varsity team at woodland this season . He looked very good playing with the older boys this past weekend in scrimmages. The team over all has some talented 8th graders and the new head coach seems to have these guys fired up for the season .Tucker should do well this season for the wildcats and even better his 8th grade year with the experience he is gaining.
